Thanks for the video Mr. Strohmeyer, and no, you are not getting stale, you put our real world data that is useful to the community. It appears either bullet is capable of good accuracy and they both seemed to like the higher end of their velocity rating. The 125 Pro Hunter has a bit higher BC at .277 to the 130 Hot Core at .248 so they are fairly comparable until you get out around 125 - 150 yards then the 125 Pro Hunter takes a little elevation and energy edge. I have only used the 130 Hot Core on hogs and it has worked well, but I do have some 125 Pro Hunter ammo to test on hogs, can't imagine there could be much if any difference on hogs but we shall see. I am looking forward to the chrono numbers. I have most of my reloading supplies I just haven't bought bullets, I was waiting to see what kind of numbers and accuracy you would get from the two bullets. And if anybody is interested Wilson Combat has the 125 Pro hunter loaded ammo and bullets on sale at a pretty good discount. Maybe if you feel like it you could test the 135 Ham'r Bonded bullet, it shows to run at 2,400 Fps but has a BC of .372 so it very quickly makes up for the tad bit slower speed. Again, thanks for the video.

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 Thank you sir, I will gladly take that spoiler alert. Those are impressive numbers for a .30 cal AR 15 round with 125 to 130 grain bullets that uses the .223/5.56 parent case. That 125 Pro Hunter with a little extra speed seems like a winner, but I doo like the cheaper cost of the 130 Hot Core. Looking forward to the video.

Dave, do yourself a favor and just take a look online at the new Garmin Xero chrono. It's a little pricey, but it's the easiest and best chrono I've ever used. Just put the little gadget next to you on the table, and go to town. You can swap guns all day long and never adjust the Garmin and it will pick them up every time.

Yes, maybe someday. At $599 though, I'd rather have $$$ cartridge components on hand. All that was wrong today with the Magnetospeed was it needed a battery change. Precision numbers will be shown in a upcoming video. Thanks for the suggestion.

Agreed. Had my Garmin for a couple months now. Absolutely love it. So easy to transport and use. Not near as finicky where you point it as the Labradar. Never had a lot of problems with the LR but I've never, EVER had to sight down a v-notch on the Garmin. Doesn't even have one! 👍 Garmin!

I just bought the Labradar LX. The og labradar was a pita. I was testing 110vmax in the Ham'r last week at the range. I dropped a ton of shots because my range has an extremely low sun block in front of the bench. I feel you on the frustration. That's why i bought the new school radar. They grouped pretty damn well though.

I think, since I already have it, I will stick to my 7.62x39 upper in AR. The ability to use VERY inexpensive range ammo for trigger time and the similar energy from similar weight projectiles for hunting should work on hogs or deer in my woody area. My groups were a bit bigger, but using a digital scope for daytime and night hog hunting. I hope your magnetospeed gets debugged pdq. I am saving for a Xero, as the indoor range wont allow the setup of my Chrony(nothing in front of bench, they also disallow steel cased and bimetal jacketed ammo, so the cheapest is saved for outdoors - reasonbly priced brass ammo abounds still for 7.62x39 tho.) and it is a bit too steamy to setup outdoors at the moment.😓

Hi Dave, I tested some 125gr Sierre 125gr pro hunters today. My best groups were with 28gr but i got 2501 for avg velocity, ES of 35, SD of 13, not as good as i hoped but not the worst. Im going to load up some more at 28gr and 28.2gr max, at a couple different coal's. I was hoping for a little more mv w these. It is mostly in line w Mr Wilson's data out of 16" bbl though. I have an 18" Shaw barrel. I'm very curious to see your velocity results. Edit: I was using the new Labradar LX. It worked flawlessly.
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80095 ай бұрын
Those are pretty good numbers. Yes, I did get the numbers and did a video. Because this cartridge/rifle is for shorter range hunting, having real low SD's are not a deal breaker. How's your accuracy? kzbin.info3i3z7LoEe6A
@onebadjack13135 ай бұрын
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 it was pretty good, ~.85 MOA over 20 shots in 5 shot groups. You are correct, sir. I think it will do just fine for its intended use, mostly for hogs here in Texas. I like to tinker and see what I can get out of it though.

@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 I did see that video! I just completely brain farted it... What grain weight did you get those velocities at?
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80095 ай бұрын
@@onebadjack1313 27.8gns 125gn Pro Hunters. Does your barrel have a 1/13 twist? My Wilson combat barrel is 1/15 twist. Faster twist barrels do better with 130-150gn bullets, therefore your velocity could be lower on the 125's, but not enough to be concerned.
@onebadjack13135 ай бұрын
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 mine is also a 1:15 twist. The newer shaw barrels are 1:12 twist. I might put together an upper for one also. I'd like to use the 150 savage SST's. I ordered some, but Academy cxld my order after waiting a week and a half. My vmax loads were ~2650 and like laser beams, lol. I've got some of those 130 hamr hotcor's to try next also. This is a fun round to load.

I think you meant to say out to 250 yards. Until you get up to the 135-150 you dip below the 1000 lbs margin at around 200. I’ve used both these bullets on game under 150 yards they were both very effective on deer or hog. Both these bullets go under an inch at 100 in my gun.
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80095 ай бұрын
I haven't killed any medium sized game as of yet, so I will have to defer to your experiences. But my Hornady ballistics tables, at my speeds using these bullets are 950lbs and 910lbs at 300 yards. Thanks for your input here.

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 I like to see those ballistics. My Bullet Drop app shows me that the 130 @ 2500 with a .248 bc drops below 1000 lbs at 200.

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 That seems like a high BC, but if that's correct yes it would go out to 300 yards! That is what Speer lists for the bullet! One of the best game bullets for the Hamr is the Speer # 308150BLKGDB. It will reach the 300 yard mark with lethality but you do give up some accuracy, no better than over an inch @ 100. But it's currently listed as unavailable. The Lehigh bullets that Wilson offers are supposed to be outstanding but I have no experience with them. I have done a lot of experience with many others. I love to compare notes with you!
