Oh this hit me so hard. Io was in my PE class and she was one of the funniest, amazing people I have ever met. During warmups I always loved to run with her around the gym because her personality was so vibrant and she was an amazing influence on my life at the time because I was at a difficult place in my life. One day she stopped showing up to PE. I asked one of my friends what happened and she said that she got sick. I thought she meant she had the flu so I didn't think about it much. She didn't show up for the rest of the year. My life started to get busy after that and 2 weeks later summer started so I gave little to no thought about her. She was in the grade above me, so she went to the High School after that and I didn't see her again. I don't know much about what happened after that, or if that was the sickness that killed her. But I didn't find out about her death until last June at our choirs end of the year concert, when they were making a speech about her. I asked my friend what happened and that is when I found out she died... I couldn't think straight for the days after and I seen that night bawling in my room. But today I was browsing through my recommended videos and I found this and... this hit hard. Thank you for making this video. Even though I saw this months after she passed, it really touched me personally and I'm sure it touched others. Thank You.

It hit me hard when she passed. She was my best friend since I was in about 4th grade and I hadnt been able to see her once since she had moved. My mom had told me about her getting sick and I was so confident that she would get better because she's so strong and amazing. So when I heard about her death I was just broken. My friend and I sang this song for her wake together and it was so hard not cry singing it. I remember visiting her mom and brother after and I kept expecting her to come upstairs and say my name and hug me like she always did but she never came, and it's the worst feeling knowing I can never see my best friend again.

Okay, usually I don't do long comments like this, but in this case I feel that I need to. This past May, my high school was in the exact same situation as this one. One of my fellow choir members, Makayla, was killed in a car accident the week of State Choral Festival. We're a very tight knit community, and all of the choir people were really close, so we all took it pretty hard. Peter (can I can you Peter?), when I saw this I was almost in tears when I realized what this was for. Thank you, thank you so much for doing this video. It was a huge comfort to me, and it reminded me of all the good memories I had with her.

My grandfather died in the wee hours of May 24th, and my mother has the task of arranging his funeral. He was a lifelong farmer who got up and went to bed with the sun. I remember visiting and seeing him plowing a field or tending the cows as we drove past, and when it got dark, it wouldn't be long until he came home and it was time for dinner. When Mom was looking for music to play at his funeral, I sent her Homeward Bound, and it was "perfect". It fit my grandfather so well, it was almost written for him. This beautiful arrangement will always remind me of him. Thank you.

Peter: I have SO enjoyed many of your YT vid's, both your solo's, co-labs, and with your wife. But this message is to the amazing high school choir who backs you up for this particular song. Young folks, please take this to heart: Enjoy. Every. Minute. And... You. Are. GREAT! At 15yo, I (and my sister) had the immense pleasure of being part of the British Columbia Honour Choir. We were sent the music and learned it at home and with our local choir director. Then we had regional practices at a city 4 hours away from my home, probably twice I think. That alone was fantastic! Then we went to Vancouver, BC, which was an 8-hour drive from my home at the time, to practice with all the rest of the "chosen" from across the province. Each part of the choir had separate practices and then we got together to hone the tone together... Then... THEN came the day when we 500 "kids" joined 300 adults in a magnificent hall at the University of BC, under the direction of an amazing Brit from Westminster Abbey... The youth started off... the sounds rose... and then the adults joined in. And when those adults joined us "kids", I had shivers. The same shivers I felt when you joined Peter at 2:23. Seriously! I am now 51yo. And great singing is still great singing! I have learned many things over the years, but one of the most important things I have learned is what you are learning right now. You have enjoyed or are enjoying the amazing sounds you can make as a TEAM. That, my dear ones, is a gift. To make music as a team. Yes, you may go on to be soloists or directors or worship leaders or duos or quartets or ensembles or writers or, as I am now, appreciators. :) But please always remember that you owe it to "the team" - those behind you or in front of you or under you or over you. As in music, we do life TOGETHER. None of us can truly sing without others to either listen or support - or both. ;) I have SO enjoyed watching this video that shows your progression from practice to show because it has reminded me of those wonderful days of my own youth as I followed the same sort of path. We didn't have KZbin back then. LOL Goodness, we didn't even have personal computers, and phones were stuck to the wall by a curly wire! Trust me - you can ALL go far. You ALL have talent and beauty and a gift from God. Treasure it, nurture it. It can take you far. God Bless.

I LOVE your story, as to how this song come about ... it just grabbed my heart and tears began flowing. I believe. 100% that the Lord Jesus had his hand in it all the time. The Lord put your desire in your heart to sing the song. Little did you know it was the same song the little girl would sing it out loud ... not caring what people would think ... totally astounding and remarkable! !!

Dear Peter, I live in Clackamas, Oregon. Both my kids were involved in music, my daughter in the A choir at Clackamas High School. My son was in choir at high school for a year, but before that he was in the Oregon Boys’ Choir for several years, singing around the state at churches and schools. His sons were in band through jr. high and high school. Music can bring much joy to kids and their parents. It teaches them discipline and team work and brings out their love of all that music entails. Both our grandsons and their band played at Carnegie Hall their senior year. It saddens me so much that none of them are in music any more. So I will look forward to going to one of your concerts.

Life is hard. But it isnt good to just give up. I know.. Believe me, i know. I didnt live a happy 15 years. More than half of those years were of me being this close to giving up... but the happy moments outweigh the sad ones anyday. Life is a gift, you have to take advantage of it. No matter what's going on, i will be there to help you... Everyone has mountains to climb, and some of them are taller than others, and the higher you climb, the stronger you'll be. But you can get through it. You will get through it. Through the sunshine and the rain, you need to keep your head held high. You are strong. Far stronger than you think. Please. I love and appreciate you. Talk to me.
