Just used your link, the second one, and got the Dreo for $250 on sale. Now trying to decide if we should put it upstairs in the master bedroom or downstairs in the TV living room kitchen area. What placement would you recommend?

It's so nice in the bedroom...the silent air cleaning mode is great!

nice comparison video. Newbie question, can this be added to apple eco system HomeKit? Via home bridge? Not seeing much home bridge support for this model.

Both had an option to get in there! At least last time I tested

I have several fans on all year (very hot apartment) and am looking for more efficient ones. From what I've read, DC is better than AC. Dreo's page on the MC710S says the brushless DC motor brings the noise down (but doesn't say if both motors are brushless). Dyson's website says nothing but the listing at Amazon says it's DC. Does this matter?
@AutomateYourLife6 ай бұрын
It all depends on the design, but yes in general you're going to want a DC motor for Power Efficiency with modern electronic designs (that's mostly because the adapter in the wall does an AC-> DC conversion...but that's another story). In terms of whether or not an AC or DC motor is better overall, that all depends on the power levels, power type, etc.. That's a complicated discussion! And you're asking a guy who's dealt in motors for 10+ years of his career so I'm not just saying that. What's important is how you experience the motors. They're both remarkably quiet on the DREO. They're both efficient enough to make the unit strong and not too power hungry. It uses power, but it's not crushing you.

I wonder though. If you have central AC like we have, with a very powerful and large 2 stages filter (Thats I DO change twice a year) is there any suplemental benefit to this kind of unit ?
@AutomateYourLife6 ай бұрын
Well, it all depends on how much you want to rely on that and how fast you want to clear things. If your central AC is running often and therefore air is circulating lots, you'd be fine. However, just a little cooking can send VOCs and PM way up, and fast!

Is there such a thing as over filtered air, I don't think so....
@alexander_sinclair2 ай бұрын
I think it might be good if you have allergies and you don't want your fan sucking in allergens and blowing them in your face. I have dogs (and I have dog allergies 😢) and even though my AC has a good filter, I still notice dust and hair on my fan blades. It must be blowing that in my face.

Filter replacement frequency and cost could be a deciding factor. My Winix unit is excellent but filters are expensive
@AutomateYourLife7 ай бұрын
Yep absolutely. That is something I will finalize and put on the spreadsheet at some point. But at this point they seem to be degrading at the same rate or at least very close

Factories are pretty open and ventilated so head height sensors probably make sense, but not in residential. Chemicals that float collect in the ceiling, probably escape before getting to the point you'd breath them in even if your walking around. Chemicals that sink are the killers, they collect on the ground and because we tend to lie down when we sleep, it doesn't take as long to get to our breathing level. So ya, you want to detect the bad stuff near the ground long before it has a chance to build up.
@AutomateYourLife5 ай бұрын
That's a fair comment when we're talking about sleeping. But the detectors we used were intended for enclosed spaces. Those are never well ventilated. So I agree, you sleep laying down and we want to clean the air there! But you want detectors near where you breathe always. 😃 Definitely a good consideration for use case

Can you tell me which one is better ?
@AutomateYourLife4 ай бұрын
I like Dreos option personally because I don't have to hear the air purifier running if I don't want to. The Dyson is whiny sometimes and it's especially annoying at night

Dyson fans are garbage. Mine started squeaking really loud after about 2 years. If that fan last one year then it’s a better buy because I spent about $400 for each year the Dyson worked.

And? What is the point of your comment? Your phone is made in China unless you a Samsung.
@AaronFigFront7 ай бұрын
@@JWard2 is it s smart device with a camera. And the OS running on it is their own software… just check out what Eufy did.
@AaronFigFront7 ай бұрын
@@JWard2 plus Xiaomi or some other Chinese phones sold for Chinese (versus the international version) have been recorded to send network requests for keyboard inputs. It is not even hard to find out. Pretty much any network engineer can test that. While as Samsung, despite also using Android, does not have requests send in that regards. Of course there are ways to make those hard to detect, but they haven’t done that to all the privacy violating features so those behaviors are still detectable.

That doesn’t make them inherently bad

ANY Dyson piece of equipment is way overprice. You pay the design and the fashion factor, but thats all. In fact you cant reinvent the wheel, and as they both use the same filters, most probably manufactured by a third party, there is no way the results could be different. Anyway, nice video to (I hope) wake up some buyers at Best Buy or other stores, to stop trying to sell stuff nobody wants.

I use a GREE GCF100AANA in my shop (Has no windows and no air flow at all) and it works perfectly except when I do extensive wood cutting and especially MDF of course, but after about 30minutes it does succefully cleans the air to acceptable levels, and it is only 170 canadian pesos ! Its is not smart, but hey I dont even have internet in my shop ! The Dreo looks fantastic though, I will inquire for sure.
