You convinced me to build my own. I bought a ebike that’s ready to go but I’m stripping it of everything and building it back up. I really like the frame of the retrospec valen rev+ got it for a good deal through my work. Think it’s going to be either a 3000w or 5000w not sure I’m a bigger guy I really just want good range for food delivery

Very big difference with a 3k to a 5k just saying as I have a 3k I built. Trust me work your way up 55 is aplenty and 72v you have that torg

Some advice as a 220lb guy riding a DIY 4kw ebike: Your range drops drastically with speed, wind resistance burns most of your power. But its fun to go fast... My battery is 72v 12.8ah. I built it in a "DP9" battery case, the largest "normal" looking 18650 case I could find. I've got a KT 60a controller that will pull over 4kw peak but I keep it limited to 2kw on the throttle and I usually run 750w on the pedal assist. Top speed 60km/h but I usually keep it around 40-50km/h. I haven't range tested it exactly, but my guess is that with my riding style where I mix the pedal assist and throttle however I feel it gives me about an hour of riding time before I need to recharge. I can tell you for sure that if I was doing food delivery I'd want it to last longer. It lasts much longer than that if I don't touch the throttle, just use 750w for going uphill, and then drop the PAS level even lower when I'm going flat or downhill. Riding like that I could probably double my range or more. Bottom line if I were doing food delivery and I wanted to be out for hours, I'd probably double my battery size or carry a second battery, and I wouldn't want to ride too fast. As for the fun factor, It's pretty good, but I often wish I had a just a bit more torque just for taking off from a stop. A controller with higher phase amps would probably fix that.

mad props and much respect for your channel and your continued creation of diy ebikes & videos. I have been assembling and riding bicycle frame ebikes for 3 years. You have exceeded my capabilites and knowledge. I have turned to your videos as a source of information as some of my inferior equipment has expired and I needed data to move forward, upgrade, and improve my riding experience. Your passion & fabricating skills are top notch. When my NBPower controller(s) suicided themselves, I upgraded to Sabvoton. Thank you for your Sabvoton controller programming video. That information allowed me to program and ride. I will never purchase NBPower motors or controllers again. I have had 2 Sabvoton 7280. The first one operated for 9 months. The second one operated for only 51 miles. I am done with purchasing Sabvoton controllers even though I remain impressed with their performance compared to the NBPower controllers. I am waiting for a Fardriver ND72360 controller to arrive as well as a new 26 ah battery. Once again I will rely on one of your videos to get up and running. I use my bike for fun and for work. I am a sawyer who operates a chainsaw deep in the forest. I do not cut down trees. I am an ecologist. I cut down invasive plants in very remote areas where humans mostly do not go. I take a truck to the forest. A UTV gets me as far as the trails go. then its me, the saw, and the ebike off trail creeping where the wild things are. my ebike allows me to just about go anywhere that I could hike and increases my ability to range over a much greater area with much less chance of faftigue or heat exhaustion. I have put a great deal of effort into keeping everything on the bike and me as light as possible. I am 6' 175 lbs.(198 lbs with my chainsaw, water, etc in a special pack on my back) My bike is built on a 29" hardtail Trinx aluminum mountain bike frame with the same upgraded double crown front fork that I watched you put on one of your bikes. 4 piston hydraulic brakes with 160/180 rotors. Headlight, tail light, strobes, and turn signals added. My current motor is an MXUS 72 volt 3k turbo hub motor with a 20ah battery. Total weight = 73 lbs. Overall I have been impressed with the performance of my build except for the 2 NBPower hub motors, 2 NBPower controllers, and 2 Sabvoton controllers that could not remain functional. Heat was a problem until the addittion of Statorade and hub sinks from Grin Technologies. keeping the battery at or below 20 lbs limits my range per charge with my average being 21 miles per charge when at work and more like 15 miles per charge at play on the 20 ah battery. i feel like a kid at christmas waiting for the fardriver and 26 ah battery. May Peace & Blessings satrurate you and your house for your generosity of information, EBIKEGUY, words cannot express the amount of apprecation that i have for you. Sincerely 3RTHS3RVNTXX aka C.W. 50amps Regen is a lot of amps. Think about the batteries and heat. I have my Regen on 18amps. I also set my Regen to start at 100rpm's The more amps on Regen can make the batteries hot. While discharging high current Think about chargers You wouldn't charge more than 20 amp fast charger. That's my thinking. If I go above that the bike slows down to fast for my liking I agree that the riders weight affects the settings for Regen. That's a rad build. Nice and simple ebike. It should be reliable
