Save the white backing paper. You might be able to create your own scratch paper by spraying the white backing paper with matte spray paint. We used to do that as kids. I don't know if it would give you a thin enough film, but if it worked, you could make any color film 😊.
@fairyspunfibers909814 күн бұрын
@AuroraDragonDesigns I wonder if...spraying parchment (baking) paper would work even better? Nothing sticks to that!
@wishasmiler32014 күн бұрын
@@fairyspunfibers9098 Then maybe it will be difficult to paint too, I'm not sure that the color would stick on nether 🤷♀️
@wishasmiler32014 күн бұрын
@@AuroraDragonDesigns I remember doing that with a thin layer of black candle wax over a dry drawing paper painted with water color, when I was child (looong time ago 😂)

130,000K! Woo-HOO! Congratulations, Dan! [happy dance!] Dan, this is GENIUS! 😍👍 Thank you so much for sticking with this puzzler until you got what you want. This is just amazing! No matter what you used for the backing, it turned out great. They're ALL gorgeous! I do love the Dichroish film effects best, but everything you used worked beautifully! 💕😊👍 IDEA (maybe?): Spray some baking/parchment paper with any color spray paint (matte, like the original scratch paper, for contrast to the shiny backings?), and see if you can scratch through it easily. We know nothing sticks to parchment paper, so...maybe? ** I haven't looked through enough comments to see if others have suggested it; sorry if I've said what's already been suggested!

You can use paint in any colour on a nonstick surface. As a kid in school we used to colour in a sheet of paper with crayons, waxy ones, and then apply a layer of black gouache. After it dried we could make scratch drawings in it! It might be possible to paint a layer onto the plastic sheet you used and scratch it there. And then you transfer it onto the cabochon. One thing though, careful with water, the gouache will not be waterproof. Acrylic paint does dry waterproof yet when you scratch that there is a chance for it to peel. It basically leaves a layer of plastic which has some stretch to it. Have fun experimenting!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU❗️ I have started to reallllly hate the bottoms of our bigger resin pieces because the “top off” of the base in black takes over 1-2 mm of the bottom depth and goes all the way around the edge (non jewelry items, currently we’re producing 8 huge 12”x12” dragons every other day). To me, it distorts the beauty of the pieces that are clear. Now, you’ve given me an idea of how to do the bases of these monster dragons differently! I couldn’t wrap my head around what to change to make them look better and I’ve been an artist for over 5 decades… I was starting to think the well had dried up and I’d imagined all I ever would 😂. The frustration was real! I never had to worry about our jewelry line because we make our own clay bezels and the bottoms usually disappear into the clay. Can’t wait to get back in studio and give this a try.
