Hard to understand why Arjun isn’t getting more praise … the past few months he’s been virtually unbeatable.
@ritamdeb22323 ай бұрын
Mostly because he's been unbeatable against 2600 rated GMs, but hasn't played against Super GMs much. That's not really his fault though, for some reason Arjun doesn't get as many invitations to super tournaments as Pragg or Gukesh.
@Philip88253 ай бұрын
Yes, oddly that seems to be the case. Unfortunately competitive chess has become heavily political like most everything else. Arjun has a 4-0 edge over Gukesh in classical, and 38-14 with 18 draws in all games. His score with Pragg is much closer, but with fewer games - 1-1, with 1 draw in classical, and an 11-10 edge with 10 draws in all games. A plus score against both his compatriots and #4 in the world, 8 points from 2800. IMO it speaks poorly of tournament organizers he’s not included in the more highly-regarded super GM tournaments.

the rating system is unfair for top rated players. if a 2800 player is in a tournament of 2500s - 2700s, surely , considering performance, there should be ways to reward the 2800 for impressive play. else the only way to reach 2900 would be (1) wait until there are enough players who crack the 2800 level that you can verse or (2) win every game you play against lower rated players. either way, the system doesn't really work out well.

The later games are a good test of showing the eval bar. I don't like it. Knowing immediately if a move is good or bad by the way the bar reacts is unsatisfying, you stop thinking about the position. Definitely a good choice to not have it in your normal setup.
@faznaz74553 ай бұрын
“You stop thinking about the position” - That’s a limitation for you specifically and it is not a good mindset to have. If you want to improve your chess level, you always have to ask yourself “why?” as in why a move is good or bad, then as an exercise, challenge yourself to find the idea or move. This point becomes irrelevant if you simply want to watch chess for solely entertainment
@UnknownUser-j3n3 ай бұрын
@@faznaz7455but having the bar tell us whether its good or bad in advance limits our options of evaluating the "why".
@malsawmzela6093 ай бұрын
@@UnknownUser-j3n that literally doesn't make any sense. Without eval bar, you need to guess if your move was even good or bad. And if the next opponent's move didn't take advantage of your bad move, then you wouldn't even know the bad move you played before. With eval bar, you instantly know that you made a bad move. And when the opponent fails to take advantage of it, the eval bar rises back up again. It is way easier, saves time and prevents you from missing lines when analysing games with eval bar. For entertainment purpose, ofcourse no eval bar is also great, but only because the youtuber is there to explain why some moves are good or bad. I enjoy both.
