Definitely need more rake going down to the front to encourage down force. Imagine the whole body as a wing.. lower at front higher at the back
@vitsalava12513 жыл бұрын
I "do simple aerodynamics" and I think that "hump" in the front actually generates lift like an airfoil for planes. Essentially it pushes the air upward at first, but then creates a vacuum across the majority of the flat part in the back. Unfortunately you have suspension there so only option (imo) is raising the back, lowering the front(as you said) or slightly changing the shape of the body. Sticking a piece of dense styrofoam and sanding it to shape might be an option too. Also, if you have the time and option, put a runcam or a GoPro or smth at the back and stick strands of fabric or strings to the body and watch for vortexes.

Hi, if you dont want a car to wheelie, you want the rear end to be soft but not to soft and not hard, when its hard it acts as a pivot point, you also want to limit shock travel is front, you dont want the front wheels to droop to much. If it happens to wheelie you would like the front wheels to stay kinda high, like almost with the body's height so that it helps to bring the nose back down. I dont know much about rc speed cars, but what i said above really helps in drag racing
@tech-vp5xe3 жыл бұрын
The body has down force, but you most take into consideration the angle of attack. Please use stiffer springs on the front and back as well as use limiter to stop the front from lifting up a creating a positive angle of attack. I used to do speed runs and this advice made a significant impact on stopping the car to get sucked to the ground or end up flipping through the air.

@Andy-df5fj3 жыл бұрын
If preventing the front from springing up doesn't do the trick, I recommend adjustable wing fins front and back to produce the down force. In order for a wing to properly function, air needs to flow under and over it at the correct angle of attack. A body wing is too hard to predict due to the variable ground clearance. It looks like your wing body wing effectively lifts instead of pushes down because air under it is compressing due to the wrong angle of attack of the wing.

New subscriber here!! If I was you, go step by step. First 100mph and try to take a slow motion video of the car passing, this will show the behavor of the car at that speed so you can make adjustments to the suspention. Then if the car hit the 100mph better than last time, make a pass of 120mph and see the diferrent. Don't go stright to highest speed. This is a susgestion. Really love those speed proyect. @Irillus3 жыл бұрын
You need to also drill slots above the front wheels so that air pressure can be released under the body. High pressure builds underneath the front wheel wells and if not released it will always push the front end up at a certain speed. Vent your fenders and this pressure will be released aiding in the nose staying down. This was a major problem with the McLaren F1 they were flipping cars over in races until they realized they had to vent the front fenders.

When you accelerate front of car lifts. Always. If you drive constant speed then down force pushes front down. Unfortunately you can't go fast without acceleration. That's why you still need to keep nose as close to ground as possible. You need to have more down force than squat. Maybe little anti-squat to rear also?
@eistrakh3 жыл бұрын
It was EPIC!!! Does the weight’s proportion balance between front and rear parts (like 50:50) is important for stability?
@R53.charlie3 жыл бұрын

you will need to make two air plugs, one for the front, to tackle and stabilize the front axle and keep it firmly on the ground and an air intake to cool the electronics.
@Littlemosslad3 жыл бұрын
Top work matey! I think what may have happened is the air simply got under the front edge and under the shell. That would have counteracted the downforce (if there is any) and so, the front wouldn’t have had chance to drop to the road. Or, maybe much softer front springs??

@snivesz323 жыл бұрын
I think the suspension setup you want is actually simple in concept, use the following rules. 1) Aero downforce increases with speed. 2) Spring rate increases with travel. 3) You want the aero force to equal spring force to keep a compliant suspension. 4) Treat the front and rear as separate systems. 5) Find the aero downforce at Vmax and use that to pick your spring force at full compression (divide by 2 because you have two springs per axle.) 6) Use the weight of the car at Vmin to select the uncompressed spring force. 7) Once you have the spring rates tuned then the front and rear will compress equally as the car moves through the speed range, and the chassis will remain level. If it’s wrong you will see dynamic pitching forward or aft, resulting in high drag or high lift. The key is picking the right spring rates! GL!!!
@John_spartan3 жыл бұрын
Cool 👍🏼 if the new setup doesn’t work, then just give it a bigger wing and some wider wheels.

You have down force in the front due to the body shape, but you also have the rear wing and bottom diffuser. They may generate equal downforce and if so, the car keeps the upper front comparing to the rear. Just a thought: side skirts helped the Lotus 78 to smash all the competition! Maybe that ground effect is too trickier for an RC, but the principle can be inspiring!
