LMAO - I love the “maintaining?, f- off!” I got a “underperforming” after a half-decent 25k run. Can you dot down some of your tops snacks when you are running?. I’m heading to the UK in a few months and want to make sure I grab everything while there :). Thanks too for your great videos!!! I am coming up on my 85th half marathon in 2.5 years and when it’s too cold outside (I now live in Canada) will run on a treadmill. I’ve spent many hours watching your videos and listening to your tips and tricks.

Always a great feeling to do a long run and it feels pretty good at the end. Wanted to add that well done on your running and being aware of others and your surroundings, stepping off the cycleway when you stopped at 26-30 so as not to inconvenience other users. It's a small thing but wanted to highlight it 👍

2 songs I'd add to your bangers playlist are: I'm in the mood for dancing by the Nolans and It's Raining Men by the Weathergirls. Absolute classics always get my mood lifted!! :D (there are many more I can name but these 2 are my absolute go to's) Ohhh what did you have on your toast, it looked good! :) You always make running look so easy and enjoyable (first one I know it isn't, 2nd one I know it should be). And I love how much you love what you do, it's infectious so i'll be taking this into my long run on Friday afternoon (we've been given 3 hours off work for Random Act of Kindness day so i'm using mine to go and do some nice trail running in a local woodland area near me) :) Also, my go to for a sugar fix on a run is now Lucho Dillitos, I absolutely love it! So I'll be looking at the torq flapjacks now too and seeing if they work for me. thanks :) x

Another gorgeous route! Great running! Maintaining!?!? 😂 I really need to start tapping into music for my tougher workouts. I've got the Shokz now, but no Playlist. This will help! My favorite long slow run breakfast is buckwheat blueberry pancakes within an hour of running. Sounds super heavy, but my stomach is so happy for at least 2 hours of running. I HATE feeling hungry when running/ hiking. I'm so glad you're feeling a little better!

Hey Flora :). Sounds like perfect pacing and great to hear tailwind may be working well for you too. A bit fiddly when you need to refill bottles at checkpoints but so easy on the move. I love those cruisey runs too, do you think that might be similar to being in the flow state? Used to get them most days when I ran first thing every morning years ago, but can’t remember being able to get there much since
@FloraBeverley Жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you for the recommendations! Have you tried the Tailwind sticks? I can't imagine using TW at aid stations, tho could be good for the first 20km of a race I guess. But I'm wondering if the sticks are good for on the move! Yessss that's it. Flow state. Interesting that you've not had it since the early days. I never used to get it at all, and then I did on long runs. Now I barely get it at all 🫠
@JackBrady Жыл бұрын
@@FloraBeverley I hadn’t realised they made those too, they sound interesting though. If not for whole races, at least as maybe a backup if you ever can’t stomach solid fuel at certain points. So interesting what you said about how solid fuel in races can help you recover better, that’s awesome :). Ah no :(, I’m sorry you’re finding the same as me too. I think in the early days I didn’t have any knowledge, expectations or specific goals for each run, I just wanted it to be a good run and do my best. The more I try to analyse pre and on the run everything that I’m doing, the less in the moment I can be. Also in the morning I was half asleep too and didn’t have time to get anxious about anything 🙈!

You cannot go wrong with the innov8 X talons or Innov8 mudclaws (they both have the same lug length). I've done canicross being pulled by my big, strong 30kg dog in slippery wet mud in my X talons and my feet did not slip once. I've never felt like I'm going to fall over in them, they're just brilliant, you won't get more grippy

So inspiring!! Still waiting for physio (4 days to go!) to see if I can start running again after injuries, I'm so keen to get back to it. 6min/km for 3h is insane! Are the vitamins one daily? When I looked on their website, the nutritional vales seemed to be saying per 2 tablet serving but there's 30 in a pack??
@FloraBeverley Жыл бұрын
There are 60 in a pack as it's 2/day (though I now take 1 per day just to top up my diet 😌). Good luck with the physio!

No - I just paused it when I was waiting for Sam about 500m into the run & for about 10 seconds 10k in! I try not to stop it unless I'm getting coffee or waiting for someone. Was v pleased to hardly stop at all in this run!

Gosh, your symptoms sound exactly what I've been struggling with after a super mild bout of COVID. A few days of feeling slightly ill and then was fine, but 3 months later and I'm still overly tired from high efforts (and oddly high heart rate for effort) and unable to sleep. Am also vegan, and every blood and heart test came back perfect/better than average. But I'm in week 6 of marathon training and struggling to keep up despite having cut out speed work.

Long covid is no joke. Hope it's temporary for you and that, training wise, you can get to place you're happy with.
@FloraBeverley Жыл бұрын
Ah nooooo poor you. Yes I'm a bit worried that it's post-viral fatigue, although I don't think it's from covid. So frustrating. Good luck with your training. You'll ace it even if you just do easy run ❤️

I had similar had the mildest cold(maybe covid who knows) over Xmas. Slight temp for 2 days in evenings took paracetamol felt absolutely fine otherwise very slightly blocked right nostril. Basically a 1 or 2/10 cold, but I went from running 19k to barely being able to run 5. Took a couple months to gets back up to half marathon. I'm also vegan.

Lullworth cove! Good luck to all the peeps heading there NEXT week 😂 Doing that one, and def feel under trained for it.. had to try a different approach to just banging out miles as I kept breaking.. and also feeling drained.. so have kept weekly miles lower, and included hill treadmill sessions, as well as the usual long runs.. but not pushing too long to often.. so yeah def hope I’ve done enough for the hills.. gonna be hard to keep reminding myself. I’m doing the marathon not the half this time, keep the pace in check 😂 I’m sure you’ll be back with a cuppa by the time I get near the end 😂 Crossing fingers for weather.. and hope my Saucony ST are kind to my feet.. got the Saucony Xodus ultra for the UTS to test in Wales, so hard finding a good combo shoe, grippy for mud, grippy for rock and road.. and don’t pound your feet on tarmac. Good luck for your Lullworth run.

Struggling with the shoes dilemma. My trail shoes are great for trails but horrible for gravel/asphalt. Usually when I run trails I also end up running many km's on harder surfaces. I really need a pair of shoes that are great for everything, and super cheap and super fast 😅
