I had to stop at halfway and I'll catch up tonight, but so far everything you've said has been so much like what runs through my mind in a constant chatter. Special note, that anyone who frowns on competitive woman has confidence issues, and yes, you'll DEFINITELY wind up doing something stupid and dangerous, because... why not? Once the pain fades, it'll feel glorious to look back on the memories and know you accomplished something incredible.

Really enjoyed the video Flora and watched it all. So many running truths in your commentary there: the struggle to get out of the door, settling into the run, runners high and the final exhaustion. Your positivity is infectious. How many times have I gone off the main trail just to end up in a load of brambles and have to backtrack? Its so great when you do find a new route. Thanks for the video, hope your training continues to go well and look forward to you sharing it with us. All the best.

What is that feeling before going for a long run? I've never heard anyone else mention it. It can take me ages to get out of the door. Running is uncomfortable so is it trying to stay away from that? It is anxiety about not being able to run as fast/far as you have set your standards? I'm training for my first marathon and it's really difficult to get out. I've found dealing with the mental aspect far harder than the physical.
@FloraBeverley2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Fear that you won't be able to finish? Avoidance of pain? We're all hardwired to seek comfort at all times, so sometimes running can go against everything our bodies want. But also it's rewarding in a totally different way! I find reducing pressure on myself to run 'perfectly' or fast really helps reduce the anxiety. Good luck with training you got this!

Good luck with all your runs and keep on with the videos. Brilliant, thank you, Ian ☺️

@iansmith32872 жыл бұрын
Hi Flora, Yes it was with reference to " The Green man Ultra" and yes the "Threshold Series" is Really well organised. I did the "Race to the stones" it was brilliant 🙂 so that's what's spurred me on to do the "RTTK" so I would definitely recommend "RTTK", Guess all the "Threshold series" are on my list now. Can't believe you did ,"The Mapledurham 10 miler " I did it too, not sure if you did the same year, but the weather was pretty bad and the conditions under foot wasn't good. I also recommend the "Goring gap run" which starts and finishes at the same point as the "Mapledurham 10 miler" but the distance is either "Marathon or Ultra distance" and basically follows the river Thames "Lovely", Maybe see you on a Trail run one day as I also noticed you did a "Maverick run", I did a "Maverick Ultra" on the South Downs again well organised. Take care Flora, Ian 😊
