But this is not entirely correct. Formed by the legions during the Horus Heresy, it is the Nullificators that were the first to battle the demon, and their lack of experience and knowledge made them pay a high cost indeed. Oh I really love the Nullificators. I remember when I first discovered them, I immediately kitbashed some Cataphractii I still hadn’t built yet into a unit of five all equipped with Disintegrators. They fit in perfectly with my Dark Angels “Dreadwing” styled force, and it was always a joy to watch things disappear in front of them whenever they had something in their sights.

There was no way that the Emperor have not created a Daemon Hunters just in case if the ruinous powers were to move against him and the Imperium, and while keeping the corruption a secret may have been a good strategy to prevent Chaos from spreading one cannot be to careful when it comes to its containment.

Imagine a Great Crusade game like Space Marine 2 but with the Legions. Playing different campaigns against notable enemies. They leading to the Horus Heresy. It could be a 10 game series and last decades. It would be like printing money. So cool. Seeing Custodes and Primarch's on special occasions during the game as well as 1st captains like Abbadon, Sigismund, Raldoron, Corswain, Sevetar, Ahriman and such.

I read every Horus Heresy main series novel. There was no unit called the "Nullificators" in any of those books. Closest thing which did fight demons was the Sisters of Silence.

Even though you only read the main books. Your omniscience must make you privy to all the rest.
