I completely agree. It was hard to adjust at first because I'm used to a $4,000 setup. But this does get the job done and allows you to catch fish you couldn't without it. If your option is no live sonar or this unit, its a no brainer because you can target fish with this that you can't with traditional sonar

Having used this product for about two months, I'm very happy with it. Actually, the very 1st time I went out with it to a productive area I caught them in the past I spotted a bait ball on a slope and the bass were underneath them and caught 6 bass on my first 6 cast. I thought to myself, this isn't a fair fight.

I got mine at Christmas, here in florida most lake are shallow so I don't lose any view really. Also, I have filters on low so i can see Bait Splash. I enjoy using it and learning more. In saltwater picture was crystal clear 70ft out.

I concur in Florida I'm very rarely fishing water deeper than 15 ft and pretty much have the whole bottom view. I am curious about which settings you keep on low to see your bait hit the water

Actually, yes. There is a down view setting. You don't need to physically move the transducer. You just change the settings on the MFD from Forward to Down.

What setting do you have the noise reduction on? That looks horrible that way in my opinion. Med or high would have cleared that up. I wonder if running it on high reduces your sensitivity?

I messed with the settings a lot and this is what helped me see my bait the best at distance. I think it has something to do with having on 2 of the 6 sonar beams. I normally don't run my ActiveTarget2 with such high noise reduction and high sensitivity

Try different setting of colors the last (blue screen) is better for open water is more simple to check yours lure, the gold, amber and red settings are good for cover, weed line and more, just my two cents. Great video as always and sorry for my english😅

Thanks for this review. Any comments on the 2D and downscan capabilities? Adding a second transducer, screen, wiring, etc for an FFS unit on my kayak has never been attractive, even if I was willing to spend the cash. This unit could be a great upgrade for a kayak if the 2D and downscan stuff works reasonably well too. Or should I be greedy and wait for a unit that integrates FFS, 2D, downscan, and sidescan all in one transducer ;-).

Some is interference from my other fish finder at the console I didn't turn off. The rest is from increasing the sensitivity to help see my light jig head better far away from the boat.

I hate two Lowrance units (12 & 9) and I have Active Target I. I love it all but the live screen isn’t as clear as this one. But loosing 20% of the view is awful. Fish 20’ in front of you is gone. It’s great for 60’ out but many times I get them right at the boat. For a crappie fisherman sitting on a brush pile this would be worthless.

Theres something up with your rig. I run 12" HDS live & AT 1 and I see directly below the best. Actually from 10 ft behind out to 30 or so is amazing. I have it mounted for standard ffs position.

Fishing on top of crappie, there is a down cone as well. That, or sit off the brush pile and cast out. Not anything difficult

Spend the money. At least with Garmin I can see below and a little behind. Pretty common to see fish come straight up under me off the bottom and they can be on a mission to eat. Stuck with what I got but lucky to have it. Affording the latest greatest is out of the question. Seeing you going through the process helps me with confidence because I see a few similar scenarios. I can get tired of it all and turn it off and beat the bank but the catching drops off.

If you have the money, I would definitely get Active Target 2. But if its between this and no live sonar, I would still get this because you can target and catch fish with this that you can't without live sonar.

I will also admit, that, seeing the full range of view and the extra detail on my friends Garmin, I would be sorely disappointed with with trying to use this particular unit as well. It might be a step above an FS9 for some functions, but they should have done a better job with the FFS transducer and screen and just not gouged as hard as the top line units.

Biggest disappointment I have with my 3 yr old ECHOMAP Ultra 126SV is not able to screen record in Active Captain. How are you recording with this Lowrance Eagle Eye? I should have bought the GPSMAP line but now I have to upgrade to Ultra 2 or GPSMAP to get recording.

Don't own one myself but with a 32 GB microSD, you can screen record. I do this with Active Target so I assume it's a similar function.

Yes, with all of the sales going on right now. However, you will need a bigger battery to make ActiveTarget2 look the best and its more complicated to install so the total cost is a little bit higher than that.

Me and John Storie started using Lowrance back in the mid 90's and I've used them up until last year. Nothing but . Seems they just can't deliver on the Live category . Sorry Lowrance . Kinda sad about it because every new boat we sold was nothing but Lowrance .hated to leave .. On another note , always great videos

This is a good deal for the price point, but man…. The lowrance FFS just doesn’t cut it even the full price one. I have a garmin on a 9 inch and is worth every penny in my opinion.

A really interesting video idea would be, "how to spend $_____?" around different budgets. Like $1,000, $3,000, $5,000. If your budget is $1,000 are you better off with Eagle Eye 9 or Elite? Etc, etc. Btw... I could watch you idle and talk 2D, down, and side scan for an hour, but watching anyone try to catch fish on live sonar (30 min uncut) in open water is painful.
