My heart really goes out to this woman. Not only was her son taken away from her in an extremely brutal matter, but she had to see the aftermath. She had to see just how much pain her son suffered before his ultimate death. And what makes matters worse is that the MONSTERS who killed her son never faced any criminal charges.

This child lost to us....life created by God was snuffed out in the most brutal way. Had it not been so fiercely brutal, it might have been forgotten. But the people channeled their shock and grief. The American Civil Rights Movement began then. Make no mistake, Rosa Parks said she thought of Emmett when she stayed and would not give up her seat. The Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted 13 months. The people walked, they thought of young Emmett which gave them strength and courage. The magnificent Civil Rights Movement....felt around the world. The breathtaking courage of the people who went to that courthouse, who stood outside in silent strength.....Moses testimony, Mamie Tills courage to keep an open casket for the world to see her boy, once heard, it’s never to be forgotten. @@clementjohnson2666 It is often said that nothing has changed, it is just as bad as it was in the time of Emmett Till. I disagree with that statement. Here is one major, major thing which has changed. A lynch mob would never drive up in someone's driveway for fear they would meet a hail of gunfire. Blacks are legally purchasing firearms and getting their conceal weapons permits to protect themselves and family. Many states now have the Castle Doctrine. You don't even have to wait until the threat is in your house before you can legally protect your "castle" (Unless your name is Mark McCloskey and you live in St. Louis. But that is another story)

Let’s see it was 1955. In the deep white Jim Crow south. If the h would’ve gotten involved all of them would’ve been killed it wasn’t a maybe it was a would’ve. And if they were all dead there are no witnesses which means there is no case. And we wouldn’t have known about Emmitt Till.
