Butterfly Kisses was directed by Erik Kristopher Myers (who is also a character in the film) who passed away last year - RIP. He took his own life sadly. The movie took some turns I didn't expect, props to the cast and crew.

For me, “The Poughkeepsie Tapes” and “Megyn is Missing” are two of the most visceral and disturbing films I’ve ever experienced. Along with what is depicted on screen, what makes them so gut wrenching is the element of realism. You’re not watching a paranormal event or extraterrestrial phenomenon. Instead, you’re given a ring side seat into the bowels of human depravity and evil.
@dazed1nyc Жыл бұрын
Finally! I applaud u for your disclaimer about Lake Mungo. I felt like I was the only person who didn't think it was a scary movie after hearing all the hype about it. I enjoyed it and I think it's a great example of a suspenseful, moody mockumentary, and I think it does the best job of making u forget what you're watching isn't real, but I think its one of the least scary, universally loved found footage "horror" movies. I had to watch it a 2nd time because I was expecting it to be this terrifying experience based on what everyone was saying about it. After I finished it the first time I thought I was crazy and missed something.
@mandysmorgueofhorror Жыл бұрын
It’s super suspenseful and scary in a different way. It’s very sad to me more than anything, but it does have a great scare towards the end that I think a lot of people latch on to,
@dazed1nyc Жыл бұрын
@mandysmorgueofhorror Yes, the idea and the concept are scary in the sense that it's realistic, and there could probably be 100 real documentaries made about similar cases in real life. That being said, I feel like it doesn't belong on a list with a movie like Paranormal Activity that scared the shit out of all of us the first time we watched it. It's almost its own genre in a weird way.
@dazed1nyc Жыл бұрын
@mandysmorgueofhorror Also, I know this is old now and I don't know if you saw it and didn't like it or have seen it since but The Bay is a really really good example of making u forget what you're watching isn't real. Not necessarily scary just very creepy, especially since it's from 2012 and feels almost like a premonition of what was to come with covid in some ways.

I watched Lake Mungo with "I've heard it's a kinda scary but eh I watched 50 of these so it's not gonna be difficult". I turned it on at about midnight and after 15 mins I kid you not I turned it off and watched it tomorrow with the lights. It was a terrifying experience. But the problem is the exact thing that you said that people hype it a lot and when you hype something, it's always gonna disappoint. When I recommended my girlfriend to watch it, she didn't find it that scary, but that's honestly my fault for hyping it that much. I do think everyone should see it because it's an amazing movie and it deserves a lot more credit.

You let one slip through your fingers. In 2014, there was a great faith based found film called "The Remaining". The film is about a group of friends attending their friends ' wedding. Then The Rapture happens. One of the friends dies then fireballs come out of the sky as well as huge pieces of hail . The friends try to find a safe place. It was non-stop action. And all the youtube personalities, who do episodes about Found Footage films omit this.
