I agree that Salem’s lot was lacklustre. It was so obvious that they edited out a lot of the movie. It was hard to be invested in any of the characters, and they should have focused more on making the vampire either scary or charismatic, but it was neither. It was a very vanilla horror movie.

I dunno if this has already been said and I should probably watch to the end of the video before commenting but WNUF sounds pretty similar to Ghostwatch which I also watched in October and loved! Also, impeccable list of movies you watched, I too wasn't overly impressed with Salem's Lot which made me so sad as I adore the book and loved the Tobe Hooper adaption.

Very impressive list! I really love a bunch of these and need to check out others. Relieved to hear Speak No Evil has a more satisfying spin because I avoided it in case it was just a rehash of the same difficult story. Terrifier 3 was certainly an impressive horror spectacle and Art is so fun to watch but the "universe-building" stuff is just convoluted and falls flat to me. Caddo Lake was really surprising and the reveal was wild. I liked how what's happening is never really explained but it's a subtle use of Native American mythology with sci-fi/mystical elements. A first time watch I really liked was Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, which is extremely similar to Grave Encounters, but well done.

I ended up watch 69 movies during October (and that was not planned XD) I did the Hooptober watchlist for the first time which got me to cross some of my to watch list off instead of as many rewatches as I normally do. I started off with Skullduggery (1983) which is hysterical. Talk about Satanic Panic. I was rolling at how they seriously thought D&D would affect people. Some folks have describe this film as boring but I had a blast with it. It was streaming on Tubi. Not sure if it still is. Dark August (1976) which is a bit of a folk horror tale Night Visions (1990) which was a Wes Craven TV movie that I found on KZbin and I enjoyed it. All the Poltergeist movies (including the remake) The Houses October Built (2011) which I found very interesting compared to the version that was widely released. Lisa and the Devil (1973): This movie was beautiful. There are two cuts of it. This one (which is the director's cut) and a version called House of Exorcism. Have not seen the Exorcism version but this one was absolutely a hidden gem. Very dreamlike. I'd classify it as a faerie tale. It might be my favorite of the month. The Whip and the Body (1963): It's a bit slow but I enjoyed it. The Strange Thing about the Johnsons (2011) The Evil (1978): Super cheesy but I love it. Murder by Phone (1982) V/H/S/ Beyond (2024) Race with the Devil (1975) Ring (1998) The Ring (2002) Pulse (2001) Pulse (2006) Strange Darling (2023) (Which I absolutely loved) Dark Water (2002) Dark (2005) Night Game (1989) This movie is really weird. It's more of a crime drama than anything else but the character relationships are strange to say the least. The Castle of the Living Dead (1964) Milk & Serial (2024) Oddity (2024) (I thought this was great) Tarot (2024) The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023) Nope (2022) Mr. Crocket (2024) I liked the character of Mr. Crocket a lot and I hope they make a sequel cause I would be interested in seeing more of him. Hellboy: The Crooked Man (2024) Was pleasantly surprised by this one. I am big on folk horror and this is firmly set in that subgenre. The supporting cast was also great. The new guy is no Ron Pearlman but he tried and I think the story and supporting cast make up for the short comings. Juon: The Grudge (2002) The Grudge (2004) Rose Red (2002) (I think this might have been my 3rd viewing this year. It's one of my comfort watches) Alien: Romulus (2024) Black Mountain Side (2014) This was a solid isolation horror movie though I found the ending to be somewhat lacking, it was an interesting slow burn. One Missed Call (2003) One Missed Call (2008) The Amityville Horror (1979) Amityville II: The Possession (1982) Amityville 3-D (1983) Amityville: The Evil Escapes (1989) The Amityville Curse (1990) Amityville 1992: It's About Time (1992) Spirit Halloween (2022) The Blackening (2022) Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) This was a pleasant surprise of a film. I had not watched any Bollywood horror before and I thought this was a lot of fun. The Sect (1991) Caddo Lake (2024) I think the twist makes this film Amityville: A New Generation (1993) Amityville: Dollhouse (1996) The Amityville Horror (2005) Amityville: The Awakening (2017) The Amityville Curse (2023) Torment (1986) Another weird movie. It's mostly a home invasion story but again the character relationships make for a very odd movie. I'm not sure if can recommend it but I would be curious what your thoughts on it were if you decided to check it out. Deepstar Six (1989) All the Colors of the Dark (1972): This was another one I really enjoyed but I love giallo films so it wasn't a big surprise there. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) The Awakening (2011) This is one that I don't think gets a lot of love despite a strong cast and an interesting ghost story. 1920 (2008) Dream Cruise (2007) from The Masters of Horror series but this was the uncut film instead of the hour long version that aired. Below (2002) Another underrated movie I feel. It's got great atmosphere and a very solid cast. Clash (1984) Another dreamlike weird movie that I never seen anyone talking about. The Viewing (2022) from The Cabinet of Curiosities series on Netflix The Menu (2022) The Legend of Hell House (1973) Dance Macabre (1992) Cry Baby Lane (2000) and finally Hocus Pocus (1993) to end Halloween right Definitely will be seeking out Haunted Ulster Live and What Happens Next Will Scare You. Haunting of Julia is such an underrated movie. I rewatched it earlier this year and had forgotten just how good it is. Glad to see it getting some love! Hope you had a great Halloween, Mandy!

I watched The Haunting of Julia based on your recommendation and loved it! I really like The Houses October Built, but its sequel has one of the worst endings I've ever seen in a horror film. The McPherson Tape was remade a few years later by the same director with a bigger budget, known as Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County. It's been a while since I've seen it, but from what I remember, I still prefer the original. I agree with you about Micah, he's a terrible person. Thanks for the video!

Daddy's Head was fantastic, i very very very enjoyed it! It was scary as hell, and yeah it reminded me of Babadook as well. The "daddy" monster was terrifying, and his sound design was excellent.Worth a rewatch to me :)

ya 13 ghost i think would be a good movie to remake and amp up the horror. I say this because as a kid its a staple but i did rewatch it and tbh it's cheesy and just not a movie i can watch now and say its good. I do agree the concept is good but it's a bit cheesy and I think it can be remade almost similar to dawn of the dead or hills have eyes where the remake is better.
