Stupid COVID-19 brought me here. I have been pleasantly surprised to discover more 311 songs that I would likely have never come across. I'm loving my 311.

I've never been 100% into Stereolithic but the energy you can see in the whole band during this song just pulls me in.

Agreed. They've slowed down over the years, naturally with age and all, but they still maintained their core sound and vibe. 311 has the grassroots for your momma

Man that guitar sounds so money; crunchy, squeaky, trebly, dope. The guitar on this entire album is perfect, Scott Ralston is a musical genius.
@sillymilly3118 жыл бұрын
+jhazlem agreed, I was so disappointed in the production of Tim's guitar playing on Uplifter. That would've been his master piece had it not been so dubbed over and cleaned up. It wasn't that awesome crunchy, somewhat flawed, sound we heard in his early career, soooo sad. Stereolithic got back to that I think, and I think it will only get better. I hope the band listens to these guitar center studio takes, because they are the best they've ever sounded!

Are they talking about minimalism? And yes TIM's guitar sound is amazing! It's those diamond amps to and the fact that the clean and dirty come out of different amps. That's how he makes is switching between the 2 so clean. 311 fan for LIFE!

I wish PRS made a non-SE version of his guitar. The tiki head on the headstock is sick. I like how Tim combines a lot of different influences into his playing in 311. Transistor an Sound System have a Carlos Santana vibe in some of his licks.

I really don't understand why a lot of people tries to compare albums! "damn i wish they put out another blue album / Music/ Grassroots" and you know what? i wish too...but also i believe they shouldn't repeat the same thing each album...thank god they bring a lot of different stuff to our ears!...so stop comparing...you don't compare your kids right? or your friends? you don't say "oh god i wish my oldest son behaves exactly as my younger son" ....you simply accept each individual as it is....same thing with 311 albums! .....311 is great! and it's one of the best things in my life!

I would LOVE for their next album to have this kind of sound to it. Still studio execution, yet still has a "live" feel to it. I mean isn't live shows what 311 is all about? and no I'm not talking about adding "git up" and "everybody jump" to the tracks, instead just well executed takes of songs played all the way through, with the incredible sound that this little guitar center studio can make. who's with me?

Verse 1] No matter what I try there’s no room in my mind No way to go round that, that’s just the way it is must I remind I don’t pick up the phone but you still try to call There’s nothing left to say you’ve already gotta know we’ve said it all The story never ends, in search of something But once we arrive it all starts again Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising It keeps on flowing forever no matter what we have found [Pre-Chorus] Sometimes it seems insane To just keep pressing on As if it will put out the flame But still the thirst remains Drink another drink And somehow I still feel the same [Chorus] Step off, head out, take flight, and just run Got five of everything but I just need one My brain telling me what I want, I need Got five of everything but I still proceed [Verse 2] Help me fill up this hole It’s gaping and out of control It feels like I’m losing touch and it’s taking its toll When the wall isn’t moving State of things not improving And no satisfaction in the distraction of the day [Pre-Chorus + Chorus] [Verse 2] Living in this culture can be a drag It’s just a commercial what we have A one track mind we grab, grab, grab We’re past being crazy, call us mad Gone is the golden egg and the goose And the bullshit of all hell breaking loose We gotta hit the boost Sip on the thick juice Disregard the bad cards And wake the truth [Chorus] [Outro] The story never ends, in search of something But once we arrive it all starts again Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising It keeps on flowing forever

Was even better back in the transistor and Soundsystem days. Made a trippy video to leaving babylon from soundsystem. It's a cover of a bad brains song but it's really dope and trippy and I was high so I guess I decided to make a video to it, haha. The snare makes this song though. Best sounding snare of all time. But here's the video. Check it out if you'd like (last 2 minutes is the best part). Peace. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p32bi4ONe9GaaKs

this was better than the album version. Vocals were spot on, miT's guitar sounded so clear, chad's bass drum was kickin....unfortunately at times it sounded like pnut was being drowned out....unless it's my sub, and i only noticed the bass drum. All well, sounded amazing
