Been searching for exactly 20 years for it. The first time I heard it was in 2001 beginning my first year in college, I was in my dorm room in Toronto half asleep and half drunk listening to the radio at 4 am. Now at 37, while waiting for a flight to take me to Copenhagen for a convention as part of my job, thought of the song, just hummed it and Google did the rest. Things get better with time, people, you just have to endure the bad weather whatever that is.

This song always reminds me of an ex-girlfriend that I stayed emotionally attached to for far too long. She moved on and I stayed in the past trying to live in the glow of a flame that had already been extinguished. At some point I felt that this was unhealthy and needed to separate myself from the pity I was wallowing in. I have the same struggles. I know I still love him but he destroyed me in so many ways. For the decade I went back and forth to him and the year after when he got married and decided he really shouldn't have cheated on me and wanted to be with me. It's now been 7 years since that and I'm in my early 40s wondering where my life went. I'm terrified that if he contacted me, I would welcome him. The advice I give to everyone and I've started to learn myself is that some things really are final. They have to end so you can begin again. You will never be safe from the monsters even though the door is only open a tiny bit.

Carlos Paredes and Co Co I can relate also. I’m 32 working as a CO2 Gas Plant Operator. It’s been a journey since I left my parents house in Carson, California at 19 for the Marine Corps. I got married at age 20 and 12 years later I’ve seen my parents and younger brother very little. Hardly have a relationship with them now unfortunately as much as I make effort. They don’t try.
