I remember back in 1999 I was 17. I would hear this frequently while I was in the car with my dad. During the part where the song says "I hear a song from another time and fade away....and fade away. Just close your eyes and I'll take you there". I can only imagine that my dad was probably thinking about a time when he was a teenager just having fun. Now I'm almost the age that my dad was in 1999, and there are times when I hear a song from another time (when I was 17) and fade away. Crazy how life works. Enjoy every moment of time in your life, take it all in, both the good and bad because one day you'll hear a song from another time and look back at it all. The good times will make you smile and the bad times won't seem as bad. Stay safe and healthy everyone

Funny, I can remember being 19 in 99. I remember, back then thinking one day in the future, I'll hear this song and fade away with the memories. It made me cry back then, and today listening to it for the first time in years, I'm crying all over again... lol yes I'm a crybaby, but it's ok, because I guess that's just how life is. Count it all joy. Take care all💙

i have hearing loss as well, but can recall songs in my head without being asleep most people do, can you not? its not the same quality..probably like 2-4p i guess, composers have very detailed auditory memory .. us base model humans do have it to different extents, its like remembering something you mother or father said in their own voice in your head the you can extrapolate from there right..

This was the first music video I ever remember watching. Summer of 99 at my grandparents house with my siblings watching MTV in our grandparents bedroom after a long day at the beach, waiting for dinner and hoping mom or dad wouldn’t catch us watching MTV 😂 my oldest brother must’ve been y’all’s age at the time, I was only 5 lol but this was clearly a core memory for me. Good times.

Remember this song like it was yesterday . I was 8n my last year serving in the Air Force . I was 26 years old . Two years before my daughter was born and five years before my son was born . They are adults and moved away now . My son went into the Air Force this year . I am 51 with bad health problems now . But this song really takes me back .... and fade away .

I straight up just cried now. The nostalgia just flooded over me. For me, it's not just the fact that the song is amazing, it's that I heard it on the radio with a bunch of friends all around me. Discovering music was a matter of tuning in to the right radio station, and then going to a store and picking up a physical album to peruse the album art and insert while listening to the tunes. I miss everything about the 90's. It's the goofiness most importantly, where everyone seemed to wear sunglasses, vibrant colors and shark tooth necklaces. There was a sort of innocence that has just withered away as the years go on.

***** I think it has to do with rapid increases in technology giving everyone the hope that life wasn't as constrained as it actually is... Same with the late 80's, I think. Economy was starting to pick up, and anything was possible. Now with global access to information it's kind of apparent that it isn't going to change anymore, and when you realize that half the population is dumber than the average person it gets even worse. Early 80's would've been cool if you were into moustaches and flannels I guess, although that's starting to come back...

Someday When my life has passed me by I lay around and wonder why You were always there for me One way In the eyes of a passerby I look around for another try And fade away Just close your eyes and I'll take you there This place is warm without a care We'll take a swim in the deep blue sea I go to leave and you reach for me Some say Better things will come our way No matter what they try to say You were always there for me Someway When the sun begins to shine I hear a song from another time And fade away And fade away Just close your eyes and I'll take you there This place is warm without a care We'll take a swim in the deep blue sea I go to leave and you reach for me Someone said you tried too long Someone said we got it all Someone said we tried too long Is there a place where I belong? So far and so long So far away So far and so wrong So far away, away, away Some day When my life has passed me by I lay around and wonder why You were always there for me One way In the eyes of a passerby I look around for another try And fade away And fade away And fade away And fade away

I hear what you’re saying, one writer but it this way in the mid 10ths Century BC in the book of Ecclesiastes 12 New International Version 12 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”- 2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3 when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; 4 when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5 when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets. 6 Remember him-before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God (yahweh) who gave it. 8 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless! The Conclusion of the Matter 9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails given by one shepherd.12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

This song brings back special memories for me. We had just moved from Houston to Lakeland Florida for my dad’s new job opportunity in late 1999. We only stayed there 2 years then moved back to Houston, but every time I think of those memories, this is the song to go with them. We lost my brother in 2018 and it hurts so much still til this day. When I think of all the great memories in my life, one of the most memorable ones is those 4 kids with their mom and dad hearing this song and enjoying life. We love you and miss you, Matt ❤️
