I just have 'no warm blood' for my hands and fingers on days like this,..so I have to wait untill a bit warmer weather to take my K31 for a test drive, so to speak. What a wonderfull rifle ! I really like these old surplus rifles. Thanks for the video.

I worked up some heat dragging my gear up the hill to the range. Actually it was a pretty nice day, sunny and not windy until jut before I finished up. And not a single black fly or mosquito to be seen!

That's the most beautiful k31 on KZbin and anywhere 100% beutiful

+Joe Guzman I think this rifle got a replacement stock, the wear on the barrel bands and the muzzle dont match the new condition of the stock. At any rate it's a pretty blond!

I was looking over my new-to-me K31 today. Call it weird, but I find myself enjoying disassembling the bolt then reassembling it. Looking it up, mine appears to be a 1941 production. Can't wait to get some ammo and take it to the range.

That's a beautiful rifle, nice find! :) The last time I fired a K31, the owner had reloaded his rounds "a bit starchy". It knocked the crap out of both of us! Yours seemed quite nice; it's much more enjoyable to fire the old mil-surps without dislocating one's shoulder, not to mention ruining brass much faster! Thanks for another cool video!
@3142999 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's nice to preserve the brass and also one's shoulder. These rounds were a bit slower than I thought they would be, but the powder was WW2 production stuff and appeared to have lost a bit of it's "punch".

Nice rifle! Mine's a blonde '52, and pretty as well. I've also been hoarding my GP11. The supply has got to dry up sometime. How can one pass on quality machinery like this at Yugo Mauser prices?
@3142999 жыл бұрын
I feel bad shooting my limited supply of GP11 at short range, I prefer shooting it at longer range. As for the price of K31's I expect within four or five years the prices will at least double.

GP11 in 2018? That is a lovely story. If you like to read the words "Sold Out" then looking online is a great place! I will just keep hitting the gun shows and hoping to get lucky...

Its always funny to see people repeat very carefully to not loose the cases for later reloading. While here in Switzerland you just smash the shit out of it 😂. (Of course we are lucky to get new Ammo for these beautys very easy) Beautiful K31 by the way!

Yes you folks are quite fortunate in regards to having lots of quality factory 7.5 ammo. I even reload the Berdan primed cases now.

looks like your barrel strings vertically as it warms up? ive found the stock bands to be a huge PITA but once you get them tuned to your load they shoot very nicely
@3142999 жыл бұрын
+Shooter7point62 My other K31 is free floated at the muzzle, it might help to do the same thing to this one.
@Shooter7point629 жыл бұрын
+314299 Shooting Channel I have a spare beater stock that is free floated and pillar bedded. On average it does shoot better than a standard stock however the groups arent any tighter. just less fliers. Checkout aftermarket stocks. they seem pretty slick
@3142999 жыл бұрын
+Shooter7point62 I'm really not into aftermarket stocks, I prefer to enjoy these rifles "as issued".
@Stray039 жыл бұрын
Mine is an early 1950s vintage. I never ran gp11 through her though. Did you set up the rifle before shooting her? There is a whole little procedure with the screws and wood for getting them ready to shoot. Diopter on CGN is the resident expert on k-31s and importer for parts/accessories like the diopter sights for them too. You can ask him about the set up or try to find the thread on it if you haven't already.
@3142999 жыл бұрын
I'm not up on any specific procedure for tightening the screws on a K31, but it is my general procedure for all rifles to check the action screws and tighten them if necessary prior to a range trip. I believe I've corresponded with "Diopter", and I think he has a KZbin channel as well.
@Stray039 жыл бұрын
314299 Shooting Channel Yeah he does. instructions on swiss rifles forum for what I mentioned is: - Loosen both action screws and both barrel band screws. - Hold rifle vertically with its butt plate against the ground, grab barrel and push towards butt. - Tighten front action screw first, then tang screw. Some rifles are better if you back off tang screw slightly. Tighten front barrel band. Barrel should be centered in stock. Leave slightly loose for most rifles. Tighten sling barrel band only enough so that the spring detente can still be moved when you press on it. I didn't do that but I heard of shimming between the upper and lower wood with a piece of card stock then re-tightening the screws, I tried that but I'm not set up for accuracy testing, so can't tell if it is the rifle or me lol. No idea if any of this works but it seems people do it.

Nice shooting and nice rifle. Never much cared for the K31, but that doesn't mean it's not a beautiful rifle.
@Sinaimedve0079 жыл бұрын
Hey RyeOnHam, if you like to do iron sight rifle shooting (old fashioned milsurp rifle marksmanship&stuff), you are doing yourself a great injustice, in case you avoid K31-s. Try one. Top-tier rifle, easily beats any other military rifle out there. Any anyways, one more rifle to your collection won't hurt... :)
@RyeOnHam9 жыл бұрын
I might someday. I have several similar weapons, though. I prefer the Enfield P17 above them all. Mechanically, it's top notch and I don't have to add a caliber for it. Already loading two dozen including such doozies as the 350 Remington Magnum, 30 Remington, and 220 Swift.
@3142999 жыл бұрын
RyeOnHam One ends up with quite a collection of brass and reloading dies! The nice thing with loading the 7.5 Swiss is that you dont have to get any "weird" size bullets for it, it's nice being able to use regular .308" diameter jacketed bullets for it.
@RyeOnHam9 жыл бұрын
314299 Shooting Channel That's helpful, I suppose. I now reload several .30 calibers. I reload the .300 Winchester Magnum, .30-06, .308, 30 Remington, .30-30, 30 Carbine, 7.65 Luger, and then a few off-30's, the .303, 7.62x39, and .32 ACP. WOW, thank's, that is an eye opener. Only one 8mm, three .358's... I'm addicted.

Have you tried reloading the gp11 brass? I've seen large rifle Berdan primers advertised on the Canada Ammo site, although I'm not sure they would fit the Swiss brass.
@3142999 жыл бұрын
+Phenomenal CAT Yes I've reloaded it with the Canada Ammo "Dominion" brand berdan primers, it works just fine.
@phenomenalcat35219 жыл бұрын
That's good news. Apart from the depriming, is the procedure needed any different from reloading boxer primed ammunition? If so, perhaps you could make a video on this subject? (please)
@3142999 жыл бұрын
+Phenomenal CAT As you say the depriming is different, the only other difference from reloading boxer primed brass is the need to either remove the decapping pin from your die set (easily done with Lyman, Hornady and RCBS dies) or adjust it upward (Lee dies) so that it no longer functions.

Hi 314299 Non related to the vid question for you. I picked-up one of those Dumoulin 98 actions from Trade Ex, as a kind of a spur of the moment purchase. Thinking of getting it set up in 9.3x62 configuration, if possible. Would have any advice as where would be a good place to p/u a barrel in this caliber? As well as a suggestion for assembly/gunsmith? Really would like to get it rigged up right. Regards, Al in Alberta
@3142999 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure who in Canada could supply a .366" barrel. As for a gun smith you might want to talk to Blue Mountain Sports Gun Shop in NB, 506-468-2919, he does nice work and might be able to source you a barrel.

314299 Shooting Channel Hi, I sent off an email yesterday to Zastava as well, to see if they would sell me one of their barrels as they sell this caliber. No sure if something that they would do, or if it would be permitted - I have two of their 22's and one 6.5x55. I'll check into BMS, thanks for the reply.
