Really good video overall. I found it detailed, informative, and concise. But mentioning the fan over and over was a bit annoying. Personally i don’t care how loud fans are, I play with headphones that are generally pretty loud and I can’t hear anything fans or not. I’d wager fans probably aren’t a huge deal for most people buying a monitor primarily for gaming

The glossy (or semi-glossy) coating on the Alienware is not mirror-like like what's found on the LG TVs such as the C-series. In this video I have finally learned what the three choices are and what they are called: 1. Anti-glare (i.e. matte); 2. Anti-reflection (i.e. semi-glossy); 3. Glass (i.e. full-glossy?/mirror-like?). So my question is - Are any of these upcoming 32" 4K OLED monitors (besides the Dough branded one) coming with a GLASS (full-gloss/mirror-like) screen? OR is my only GLASS choice still a LG C2/3/4?? EDIT: I bought the 42" C3. No regrets. It's like a mirror, but it is also like looking through the clearest/cleanest window I've ever looked through.
@TG-Maverick228 ай бұрын
My question exactly. This new marketing is out of control with anti glare and anti reflective lingo. I want some glassy gloss, and nothing so far seems to be that.
@noidsuper8 ай бұрын
It isn’t mirror-like but it doesn’t hinder image quality in any way. The glass itself doesn’t lend to a better image. The reason why glossy looks better than matte is because there is a *lack* of anti glare coating, not because of some intrinsic positive properties of glass.

Displayport 2.1 gets you 4k240hz natively while the other ones cap out at 120hz/144hz. Now I already hear you saying ''but the other ports also do 240hz don't they?''. Kinda but not exactly. They use something called DSC (display stream compression) to get to that 240hz which is exactly what it sounds like. ''Although from a mathematical perspective, it is a lossy technique, from the perspective of the viewer, there’s almost no discernible difference between a video rendered at native quality, and one compressed using DSC. This makes it a great tool for monitors and TVs to display content at higher resolution and refresh rates than they might otherwise be capable of.''.

the HP Omen Transcend 32 and apparently the MEG 321URX are the only ones advertised as packing both DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1. I'm ogling the Omen for the Dolby Vision support too. Sadly the FO32U2 has HDMI 2.1 and the FO32U2P sacrifices it for DP 2.1, but that's the only one claiming 80Gbps far. I believe the AW3225QF does have a fan - I can very faintly feel air coming from it - but it's 100.0% inaudible even through Dolby Vision scenes and 95% brightness in SDR. Maybe it's just not hot enough here to stress it.

DP2.1 is the make or break for me. My main rig is an AMD 7800x3d with AMD 7900xtx. My 4090 is reserved for my AI PC.... Curved vs flat isn't a big deal. I prefer curved because its more immersive for me. I dont eye spot enemies in fps games, I look around with my crosshair. An old trick learned from actual military people. When the military does searches, their gun is always pointed where they are looking. I play fps games the same way. So curved feels better. Flat is better for RTS gamers because you can dark around eye wise. Gigabyte and HP confirmed DP2.1 on their 4k240hz QD-OLED models.... I hope that they also have DP2.1 on their 1440p360hz QD-OLED monitors.... That would be a win for me. And yes, I know supposedly that the 7900xtx is limited UHBR13.5 which means 54 Gbps bandwidth not the full 80 Gbps... 1440p360hz with 10 bit color fits inside that 54 Gbps bandwidth. Easily in fact (room to spare). So it would be win/win for me. Also, 1440p480hz with 8bit color would fit inside that bandwidth as well. So whichever brand has DP2.1 and the highest refresh rate at 1440p will get my sale.... Eve/Dough is the worst company ever. Lmao.

The manufacturers claim so much but all they want is your dollars. The WOLEDS may last longer because of the white pixel. These newer OLEDS may not last at all hence the burn in warranties being offered as a selling point but the pixels have to work harder to produce white. Also, consider going dual monitor with an IPS or something to preserve the OLED. I only game on mine as use the second monitor for everything else. I have my colourful background on the IPS and a black background on my OLED.

Ok, thats what i cannot understand is - why the heck you need 4K 240Hz monitor when the most expensive GPU in the world at the moment just cannot drive any game in 4K resolution with more than around 100 -120Hz at good settings. So, to have 240Hz monitor when you cannot achieve 240 FPS at native 4K resolution isnt pretty stupid? I have ASUS ROG 4090 MATRIX and a 144Hz monitor, im playing in native 4K and i know what FPS is it there, and absolutely no chance to achieve like 240FPS Why noone talking about that?

I think it's obvious.. future proofing. Some people don't have the disposable income to buy a new monitor every year.

what games do you play? Not all games are the latest or are that demanding. Plenty of competitive games can hit close to 240hz. You also say "no chance" like you can turn things down to medium/disable shadows etc for massive FPS gains in COD.

@@irishpanda9688yes dude, but so much money for a GPU and in the end to play in medium settings is kind of stupid. I want to get all max from the game graphics, thats why i spending so much money for 4K monitor and GPU. If i want some mid range graphics experience im gonna switch to 1440p. But in 4K with game without DLSS 3, frames are not more than 130 in the best case. There is no game (except a very very few of them) where 4090 can do not 240frames, but even 180 frames

Funny how people always make the mistake, and then feel so strongly, that a high refresh rate monitor is a waste if you can't match it FPS wise. Higher refresh rate than FPS = lower input lag Higher FPS than max refresh rate = lower input lag

I’m not even convinced they’re running. They haven’t been audible once to me.

Sounds wiser to get the WOLED because it's slightly older tech right? Only deal breaker is the ugly matte screen.

These new monitors are based on a new 3rd gen QD-OLED panel, so it’s not exactly first adopter territory anymore.

buddy here exaggerates on the fan noise. You can barely hear it and you really need to be in a dead quiet environment to even hear it.. you must have ultra sensitive hearing
