My favourite game ever: Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Ever since it come out, I had S&K and I would borrow copies of 3 from friends until I would get it myself. Loved that game. Dunno, it’s gotta be the branching paths. Like Knuckles can’t jump as high as the others so he can’t go where Sonic and Tails can. Also on that note Tails and Sonic can’t smash through rocks the Knuckles can do it really adds to it

The remake of Shadow Dancer deserves a mention too. Still love my Mega Drive (hi from Europe), I got it only in recent times because when I was a kid the console had an outrageous price, so I was forced to keep my Atari 2600! Yes, I have and Everdrive but I still love to buy original games for it when I find those rare times when you can afford something without asking permission to your bank! In Midnight Resistance (11:53), you can duck and shoot forward (or whatever direction) by pressing B then duck. Some parts of the game can be uber hard if you don't use the B button. The control is so strange because the arcade original had a special rotating stick and they tried to imitate that with a controller. It would be great if someone remake the game as a twin stick shooter, which completely solves the weird control problem.
@GregsGameRoom
@GregsGameRoom 2 ай бұрын
I tried some of the other control methods and one ducked and fired forward. But it still had you press a button to shoot in different directions. Too weird.

I feel like that about quite a lot of games people keep telling me are great fun to play. I'm not sure they aren't more concerned with some irrelevant technical feat half the time than the actual underlying game and how much fun it genuinely is to play. And I'm not a fan of stuff that's random, especially in relation to controls. Thankfully, I'd say that vast majority of games in this video are good to very good, and a few are even great.

9:00 - it's nice to see some real transparency effects (at the main character) on the good old Megadrive! It's the hilight mode and sadly not very often seen, they rather used dithering for shadows and weather effects in most other games where "transparency" occurs.

Virtua Racing STILL looks really impressive on the Genesis, even if it didn't quite match the awesomeness of the 32X version. To be able to play that game at home at all back in 1994 was freaking amazing, especially on a base Genesis. As an SNES owner, i was super jealous! Especially since Virtua Racing was one of my favorite arcade games from that era. That said, it was a huge surprise when VF2 came to the Genesis and it was a 2D game! I couldn't understand why Sega would have bothered if they weren't going to give it the Virtua Racing treatment.

Just so many more great games for it, and the Genesis Sonic games are THE GOAT of that era, while the 16 bit Mario games were kind of dogshit compared to them, and even worse than the 8 bit Mario games, and of course SM64 later. But this list is really mid. Not much I'd ever bother playing here.
