A record 32 nations have taken part in this year's world-renowned patrolling exercise - Cambrian Patrol.
Taking place in the Brecon Beacons each year, it is a gruelling test of basic soldiering for the militaries of the world.
Despite it being in its 64th year, the exercise still remains key to operations today.

The Swedish paratrooper test "Ornmarchen"(Eagle March, the Eagle is the emblem you earn for passing the test). Is 43 miles in one day I think. So 18 miles during the day and 18 miles during the night and 6 miles of "orientation with map and objectives" and there is a shooting test baked into it all as well. Of course with gear. It was at one point, if not still the world's most grueling test to pass to become an Elite Paratrooper-hunter soldier (Special forces) in the world. This looks to be very close to that but seemingly over 2 days. Impressive.

There were 4 wars, 2 were ended with decisive indian victories( 1971 and 1999) and the other 2 ended in cease-fire ( 1965 and 1947)with india having the upper hand. Done this over 30 years ago. It chucked it down continuously, horizontal rain, by the time we finished everybody had been soaked through for several days, officer had to casevaced due to exposure. Truly ruddy horrendous, and I live about 30 miles from Sennybridge, so pretty used to it, we trained up there all the time. I pity the teams that come from sunnier, drier , climes, they'd best train by walking up and down a steep hill for a few days, whilst being doused by a cold hosepipe and carrying a small donkey, prayer for dry weather (a miracle in Wales anytime between September and June). The things we do for fun when we're young..

As a former British Army NCO, I've never seen a para wearing a "flat cap",cap badge should be 1" above the left eye. Not half way around the head...

It was the way cap badges were worn on berets during WW2. The style, fashion, rule, (call it what you want) changed to the "one inch above the left eye" in subsequent years. More recently, the method of wearing ones cap badge has reverted to wearing it over, or near the left ear. Foreign armed forces have been doing this for yonks e.g. French Foreign Legion.

I wonder if they do much anti drone training now, not like the expensive military ones but the suicide drones and the commercial ones that can drop mortar shells, I was watching some livestream in Israel earlier and they all got hidden in a shelter when they seen one, also was some ineffective small arms fire, but I wonder if they are going to have squad level weapons that can counter this kinda attack? Birdshot? lol

An interesting concept for sure and one that militaries are probably scrambling to figure out (if they haven't already) and they're unlikely to disclose their drone killing capabilities given their developing effectiveness as shown in Ukraine.
