I have the same problem with my PTO shaft, I can’t do anything about mine but you can by drilling a hole back farther on the digger hitch that will bring the digger closer to your tractor and cut the exist off if you want as far as the vines plunging up the shoot I go over with a brush hog first.

Nice digger. Like to have one of those. I threw away about 100 lbs last year.
@thecaptain47403 жыл бұрын
are you not taking the tops off before you dig it keeps the digger from pulging up
@GotrekGurninsson2 жыл бұрын
Also mowing the tops weeks earlier gives you bigger potatoes as the plant uses it’s dying breath to ensure it’s future survival. Damn vegans are cruel
@nunjahdamnedbusiness21952 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say the same thing. Bushog all the spud rows before using the digger. I have an ole IH ground driven digger n they don't have a slip clutch so if tops or rocks cause a jam n you don't stop quickly you might pop the drive chain. But my soil doesn't have rocks n cutting the tops off make for a smooth harvest.

Easy fix for those nematodes is add shellfish to compost or just disk in. I'm near gulf coast so mud bugs aka crawfish is what we use but crab, lobster horseshoe crab etc all will help plus it adds a little calcium and is slow to fully decompose so it will kill those nematodes for a long time.

Pesticides is the only option that I have found if you don't spray you can't keep them alive.

@@survivingmaineona20acrefar77 can i ask what pesticides do you use? I got some from 7 acres farm at $100 a gallon ( concentrated) still end up with bugs. Its frustrating. Not to mention i dont sell anything. Its all donated to local food pantries

Might want to weed wack or mow first before using the potato digger next time. And what about hooking up a trailer behind the digger to catch the spuds?
