As a highly experienced operator with a total of 10 hours on a rented machine..... I just want to say I was far more impressed with the operator's talent than with the actual attachment. Once he pulled that root ball and started tossing it and flipping it around, he made it look like he was playing with a basketball. I'm still at the stage where I have to stop and think, "right joystick left - curl bucket....."

So true. I digged out 8 large stumps, 25-36" with my 24" bucket of EX50 and broken 3 teeth of doing it, the creator is 8' x 6' deep, I need a ripper for sure. Thank Andrew!

Ripper teeth or frost tooth is amazing for stumps. So much easier on the machine. They’re a great investment if you have an excavator. Many uses too. Thanks for spending to time to show people how this method works. Better in the long run to remove the stump than grind it too.

Funny how different countries do different things.. In New Zealand we use a ripper all the time to take out tree stumps and roots. Using the rock bucket (think you called it a 24 inch bucket) sometimes spreads the pressure out too much and you dont get as much force. Got an old bucket for my machine and cut the hitch connection off and welded on a D9 bulldozer ripper on it. Works perfect. Awesome videos by the way man.

Have one of these for my B21 Kubota. Not enough weight or hp to do bigger stuff, but comes in really handy for stumps and concrete demo. Also have a trenching plate that slides over the tooth and bolts down - works well for trenching shallow sprinkler line.

been using this technique for years but use an edge (short). They work great for boulder and concrete removal too. You can also make a serration on the back side about half way in case you have to do some gnawing.

Suggest using a rubble bucket for removing the roots after the stumps are out. Use the thumb to hold the roots in place and jiggle the bucket to loosen the soil.

hey man, pretty cool. So I got a crazy quote from an excavation company for leveling and excavating a rocky mountainous property...like 50+K for just a small lot. So I'm wondering if these little things handle rock also. I'd love to be able to rent one or buy one cheap and actually have it for future work. But it would need to be pretty tough and rugged, be able to smash rock, dig up stumps and maybe 6 ft foundation.... can these little one's handle that stuff? any idea?
