Glad you were able to figure out the short block. Hope it works well.

Hi, Matt! I am glad you figured out a good engine solution. So, here are some total nube questions… what is the difference between a “short block” and a “long block?” Is the short block still a 302? If the cubic inches are still the same, what else is different? Just from the quick shot of it, it does seem to be smaller (exterior dimensions), but maybe that is just my lack of knowing what I am looking at. Are you expecting any challenges in getting the short block to fit? Sorry if this is a dumb question. 😂😂

Always good to hear from you. It’s not a dumb question. How would you know without asking or researching? A short block is exactly the same, but it does not include the heads and valve train. That engine is actually upside down on the pallet so the pistons are pointing downwards. It’s the 5.0 roller motor that I had so it should fit just fine.

Ahhh. Got it. I probably heard that before, but I forgot. Thanks for the explanation! So basically, you are going to be able to reuse a lot of parts from your old engine. That makes a lot of sense!

I met get lucky with my engine (351W in my 1971 Bronco). Looks like bad cam, $500 in parts and a long weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My Tom’s rear seat did the same thing…

Which part? The not fitting or the bushing disintegrating?
@billh55922 ай бұрын
@@MattsGarage the bushing. Set it in the truck to layout holes and both bushing fell apart. I like the seats overall but the way those front legs are designed are lacking..

Also fwiw, I ended up making plates for that rear seat that allowed me to relocate the position and not have to drill new holes. Similar to what you did for the seatbelts.

@@billh5592 I agree. They are a little flimsy. Hopefully I can find a bushing at my local Ace-type hardware store.

@@billh5592 I was going to do that too, but my kids are getting fairly tall and I didn't want to cramp their legs on the rare occasion we go on rides. That's why I chose to ditch the spare tire setup instead. I found a very cool option I'm excited to share on an upcoming episode.
