You are a lucky man Martin I miss the days in the cabin, family friends my brother blowing an Irish tune on a whistle and the other on a mandolin. The laughter , the beauty of nature frozen in time . Let Kevin know he has fans out here. I'm a Kevin fan as we have a lot in common (sleeping and eating) plus staying warm inside the cabin at night stoking the wood stove (no sleeping outside for me in the cold). I enjoy the meals you share cooking and the fire side chats. Very comforting and relaxing videos. Jim equally has fans too, along with drone man David. So hope they feel appreciated to and not left out. I have a lot in common with Jim also as I'm a retired LEO. Anyway thanks for continuing sharing you cabin videos, as I look forward to them each Saturday morning. God's Grace onto you and Vonnie, and all the cabin partner's past and present. May you continue sharing memories, and pleasant moments together at the cabin.

Always loved sitting cross legged in my Grandparents cool linoleum floor and listen to "The good old days" stories of plowing and harvesting, how far they had to walk to town to get supplies, no electricity, the cracks in the house the snow would find it's way through, having 10 children at home with a mid-wife and THE TRUE GHOST STORIES!! My Aunts and Uncles told a different story!😄 As always, I so enjoy my time at Martin's cabin💖

I used to sit up late and listen to the Old Man tell of his life. He grew up on the Blood reservation in Saskatchewan, was born in 1903 and lived a dozen lifetimes in comparison to my dull, boring life. His Grandmother was full-blooded Blood Sioux and he lived in both worlds. He drove cattle, lived and hunted with the Indians all his youth, became sheriff in Tracy Missouri when Bonnie & Clyde came to town and holed up in a local farmhouse, he walked many miles plowing the fields, nearly beat a man to death for trying to charge him for water during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s, raised a family, then another, worked for many years for the railroads driving brand new Model T style cars onto the rail cars for shipment... and that's not a glimpse at the hours of tales he'd tell about his life. I was so dumb as a kid I didn't think to commit those stories to audiotape. I was very into music and recording and I didn't have enough sense to record him. I had the equipment. I was so stupid.

I do not know how you or anyone can have so much fun in such cold cold weather. I am shivering here in my warm home watching you two out in the cold. When it gets to the twenty’s here, I am miserable and as cold as all get out. Y’all either crazy or tuff, and I think y’all just tuff as boot leather. More power to y’all. I’ll just stay in the south as I can get outside in the winter and not freeze to death. Snow here where I live is rare and never last at the most a few days. Guess in my 78 years young I have had snow where I have lived here in south Mississippi and that is fine with me as Insee what snow we get as a now and again treat. Now our humidity in the summer is another story but we endure it like y’all do the severe freezing cold. Our clothes that we can buy here are not made for your kinda of weather. Just be safe and careful out there.God bless.

Enjoying life in such cold is all about the proper clothing. We use layers starting with thermals that are not cotton as it gets damp from sweat and then you really get cold. Then a layer of wool and a windbreaker if needed but best not to use outerwear that do not breathe and let your moisture wick into the air. Dampness will really let the cold get to you.
