Re: Weight filling for the long center of the closed hopper. I saw where someone filled that long opening with round Bird-Shot (smaller then round B-B shot, that didn't fit into the opening).

I made a chart for car length and weight it should have. I get my weights from Harbor Freight and use their car weights in 1/2 & 1/4 oz. weights which work pretty well for me. They have an adhesive backing & all you do is peel off the blue strip and stick 'em down. The hardest ones to do are gondolas and flat cars. I try to make loads that bring the weight up to NMRA standards. I don't make my loads removable. Once there made they stay and never get removed. Cheers from eastern TN

Great job! I use pennies 3 grams, and nickels 5 grams. You can any weight but 1,2,4 grams.

Question can't you use a couple of 2 ounce nuts to your flat car on my gondola cars I use natural looking aquarium gravel to weight my cars do until I get the desired results from the amnra table

Yes you can. Unless you want to keep the top of the flat car clear.

I just used cheap white glue. With the thinking that i can remove it if necessary as it desolves with water.

Challenging. 'Liquid weights' are becoming more populair. And moldable weights also. I would try one of those Maybe fill al the seats from the bottom?

Just simple white PVA glue. That way you can remove it with water.
