335i N54 Oil Pan Gasket and Turbo Wastegate Rebuild

In this video i am replacing the oil pan gasket as well as putting in new wastegates on the turbos. It is not a step by step (there are a few really good ones for both of these). This is my first youtube project so it didn't go so smooth and i lost a lot of video. Was trying to fix the oil leak.. well one of them.. also was trying to fix a low boost 30ff code with the wastegates.

Yep, i get it bro, 3 weekends is about right. i work 60 hrs at my day job then to work on this car is tough but it's do-able lol.

Awesome video. Super good choices of camera angles and the speed-up was the perfect amount. Helped me a lot! I'm going to do the oil pan real soon, thinking of upgrading the downpipes, new brake pads and sensors as well as get rid of my transmission error codes hopefully all at the same time. Looks like it will be efficient to do most of them at the same time? As long as the parts or organised in the garage properly when off

Thanks! I would definitely do them all at the same time.. Cataloging parts will be crucial.. that's the only way I was able to get everything back together, otherwise there are so many parts, nuts and bolts I would have had some left overs for sure... lol!! Transmission is on my list as well!

Nice video. I recently purchased the same jacks. How was this job using them? I'm considering the oil pan and turbo replacement and would do it in a heartbeat if I had access to a lift. Is there enough room to really do this without concern? What was the hardest part doing this on your back?

Jano actually it was pretty comfortable, i weigh 250 lbs and had plenty of room to do the oil pan and turbos.. the only thing with lying on my back the whole time was neck cramps and arm cramps.. the only other thing is when oil and coolant drip it ends up on you.. other than that, yeah i wouldn’t have attempted this project without those lifts..

Did you used the double nut method to remove the remaining studs?

Yep I just had a couple that were really stuck in there.

Did you take the tubos somewhere to get them fixed or did you do it yourself?

I just did them myself. . Cost too much to take them anywhere. its relatively easy if you can weld. I think the hardest part was getting the wastegate bushing out of the turbo. I had to weld up a special tool and use a slide hammer.. Even still just taking the parts to get welded will be far cheaper than having someone take apart the turbos.

Thanks! yeah.. I was wearing it because when I took off the down pipes all kinds of stuff came out and I didn't want to breathe any of it.. also everything that seemed to drip off the engine was hitting me right smack in the face, (nothing like the taste of antifreeze and oil lol!), so I just decided to wear safety glasses and a dust mask..

Do you need to replace the bolts when on the oil pan?

yeah, they are all aluminum and need to be replaced.
