Honestly, this feels like a much more accurate statement of where diamond is at. I’ve been up as high as C1 and then up and down between D3 and D2 and then had an extremely bad run all the way down to D1. I think probably the most frustrating part is the absolutely crazy inconsistency with both your teammates and your opponents. You can have a D3 game that like what we saw on the video at D1. you can be in D1 and see crazy mechanics. This type of inconsistency makes it extremely difficult to institute a game plan that consistently works for each game.
@det_tf210 ай бұрын
As someone who's been stuck in diamond 3 for the past couple months (usually Champ 1), inconsistency is the name of the game for high diamond. Every single person in diamond has good mechanics OR good gamesense OR good mental. You can have someone hitting flicks and resets but cuts every rotation or votes to FF/flames people at the three minute mark. You can also have someone like me, who can't fast kickoff, fast aerial, wavedash, etc. and has to compensate for that with good positioning, knowing when to challenge and when to back off, etc. Lots of diamond games also have one monumental whiff that gives up a goal, meaning the games can feel a bit random. You can have a game that feels better than most of my Champ 1 games, with really good saves and shots from both sides, but then someone completely whiffs on a ground ball and it trickles into the net for a 0-1 loss. I refuse to comment on how often I'm the one who whiffs.

As someone who was C1 for 2 seasons, and peaked at C2 being stuck now in D3 I cannot agree more. I have also seen the most amount of throwers this season than any other.

There’s a lot of boosters in diamond that are boosting people up to get the champ rewards which might be part of the problem. Once they get the rewards and start coming back down the ranks it ends up a mess. Half of the people in diamond probably don’t play that much with the last few seasons being so bad. Almost every team that you come across that is partied up has a Smurf carrying. The amount of golds and low plats that dominate the lobbies in 3s is ridiculous and they have team mates that are all kitted out in champ gear with the tournament title that can’t even hit the ball unless it’s into their own net. I keep getting the champs on my team while the other team gets the s13 gold tournament winner that is somehow already in diamond

In the last 5 months, I have gone through all of diamond and following are my experiences: Diamond 1 allows you to get wayyyy better at aerials because not everybody is trying to hit the ball all at once as in plat3. I also think this is the rank where you spend the most time in diamond. You either get stuck and bounce between d1 and plat3, or you learn how to press through, and proceed to d2, d3 and into champ. Diamond 2 is a big skill jump from diamond 1. This is where most basic mechanics get consistent, and you start learning more advanced mechs. You will have a wide variety of people, from those who can barely half flip and just position very well, to those who can hit reset musty doubles but have no idea how to rotate or what to do if you challenge them early in the air. Diamond 3 is very interesting. Div 1 and 2, is about the same as d2, just more consistent. As soon as you hit div3, 90-95% of players are either people who have been carried to champ for the rewards and are now falling down, washed champs from several seasons ago, or actual champs that are just stuck down in d3 because the rank is so saturated with champs, you basically have to get a skill level of high c1 in order to get through it into champ. This last section makes up probably 50-60% of upper d3. I think the best explanation for this is that the entire ranked ladder has basically been shifted half a rank. C1 has been shifted to high d3 to low c1, d3 has been shifted to low d3 and high d2, d2 has been shifted to low d2 and high d1, and d1 has been shifted to low d1 and high plat3. This makes it harder to rank up as in order to rank up, you have to get through over half of what she skill should be/used to be. As to why this happened, I have no idea. Anyway, that's just my take on the situation, good luck to any of you trying to get through :)

when you learn how to actually defend like i do in diamond, u can counter freestylers and lredoct redirections and clear it with lettle effort. ppl in diamond arnt patient so they tend to get in the way of clearing it but when they arnt, its quite easy. if i cant clear, ill block it for the tm8s or to counter, leave it and rotate back or back up preparing for a better counter. the main pain is cowards who have to demo to get goals. they know ur too good in defense so they go for bumps and demos just to be able to get goals another example of wannabes with no skill who are scared of u as a player as they know that u could probally solo them as u no what ur doing. ive actually solod from a 3 down match and won because ik how to counter groups of people solo on games, i learned how to do so. im better as a solo anyway.

I'm a D3/C1 player right now in 2s. There's a pretty high variability in what people are capable of game to game. I see it in both myself and the other players in the game. Some games will have people casually hitting flip resets. Other games have players that can't seem to clear the ball off the backboard. Sometimes games start off with an amazing opponent and then I win. Sometimes I start out dominating and then lose. Overall, the average game is average. My rank is fairly stable (trending slowly upward over months). I usually go pretty even, maybe up or down a few games in a session. Sometimes I go down really badly, but then I get it back without much trouble. I'd totally agree that consistency (or lack thereof) defines diamond pretty well. As you observed, these guys all kind of have some advanced mechs in their pockets. The diamond experience is one of constantly limit testing and pushing yourself. However, unlike a GC+ level player who probably just does a less ideal version of a mechanic when limit testing, diamonds fail hard during limit testing as we're still in the pass/fail state of mastery for many mechanics. I imagine I could probably rank up a bit more in the short term by playing very reserved and safe, but I'm not sure if that really serves me in the long run. Obviously I should always strive to play smarter and safer, but you also have to try to stretch sometimes too. Also that's an interesting observation that the player distribution is so skewed toward diamond.

RL tracker only tracks players who have been looked up before on the site. You can look up Psyonix rank distributions shortly after each season. Last season champ and above was only about 6% of the players, Diamond made up 21% of the 2s player base. Diamonds when people start to care so that's why there's more of them than ever that show up on RL Tracker. They wanna see how they stack up. Champs have almost certainly looked themselves up or been looked up by a curious Diamond player. I doubt there's a GC or above who hasn't been tagged on there. On their distribution it also shows ~20% of players in champ or above, which is inconsistent with Psyonix. Using both of those statements, Diamond and above was top 27% from Psyonix's official distribution, but around 55% of people on RL tracker. This means theres a higher density of RL tracker players in high ranks, High ranks play more, have a higher chance of being on RL tracker, and they're more active. It fades out a lot of the lower ranks who: a) don't know what RL Tracker is or care enough b) haven't been looked up either out of curiosity,, by luck or because they're unremarkable This 35% number represents 35% of the "truer" fans of Rocket League who have also played in the last few seasons, inactives wouldn't count. When you think that diamonds are 21 of that top 27 percent of players from the Psyonix distribution, its kind of sad to say, but they're the bottom 78 percent or so of the "decent or above" player base. It sounds even more cramped when put that way, but many people would agree.

Going off of the rocket league tracker stats for this information is invalid because rocket league tracker only checks accounts that actually check their rank on the website. According to the actual Psyonix provided stats on the rocket league subreddit, as of last season, 21.33% of the player-base is diamond. 32.74% of the player-base is in platinum, the most populated rank set in ranked doubles. 28.58% of the player-base is in gold. Considering that bronze does not exist, and that these are the middle 3 rank sets, this is not surprising, there isn't a problem here. That's just what is normal for the mid range ranks in all competitive games. Comparing rocket league to valorant, Iron is the same as rocket league's bronze, which is underpopulated. Bronze in valorant is comparable to rocket league's silver, but valorant's bronze is more populated than rocket league's silver, but it has been recovering population as of recently, with about 9.43% of the player-base in it as of last season. Valorant's silver is comparable to rocket league's gold, but valorant seems to have the highest concentration of players here whereas rocket league has the highest concentration of players in platinum. Valorant's gold is comparable to rocket league's platinum, but gold in valorant has a lower concentration than silver, and it's the opposite in rocket league. Valorant's platinum is comparable to rocket league's diamond, which is where a large fall off of player population concentration happens, and it's very similar in rocket league as you go into diamond 2 and diamond 3. Valorant's diamond is essentially our champ, where the largest fall of player concentration happens. Ascendant is grand champ, immortal is supersonic legend, and radiant is top 100. Smurfing is a problem in all competitive games, not just rocket league, and it will unfortunately always be a problem, but it is not as common as people say it is. There isn't going to be a smurf every other game in any rank, and people who say there is are coping about not being at the rank they think they deserve. After watching this video, I took 20 completely random replays from this season at diamond 1 to diamond 3 and there was a total of 3 smurf accounts across all of the replays. 2 of them were in one game on the same team playing together, and the other was carrying a friend to what I can only assume to be champ 1 and rewards as it is nearly the end of the season. Diamond is not the most populated rank, it never has been, and it only displays that on rocket league tracker. If there are 2 million players in diamond at 21.33% of the player-base, platinum must have at least 3 million. But those numbers are also wrong, as other estimates show that rocket league averages nearly 20 million active monthly players, meaning diamond would be at under 10% of the population with under 2 million players. That is why using the rocket league tracker website for these numbers is incredibly invalid, so next time someone creates one of these videos, I hope they use the actual psyonix provided stats on the subreddit. I'm aiko, I'm a supersonic legend rocket league player, and thank you for coming to my Ted talk. As an edit, I also want to point out that as gc1 contains 1.5% of the players, and according to rl tracker its at 81k players, 1.5% of 5.4 million is 81k. therefore nearly 75% of the player-base is not accounted for based on rl trackers own numbers.

I hit c1 a year ago, and haven’t gotten there since. I’ve been hard stuck at d2/3 for a long time and I feel like there are so many other people that just don’t belong in diamond 2/3. Some people are hitting flip resets, some can’t even aerial. Ranked is so scuffed nowadays.

As a d3 in 2s and c1 in 3s and as a d2 in 1s, I can attest that rl is broken and I am breaking it. I score double resets in my game, but I have a huge misflipping and overcommiting problem.

the biggest breakers are SSLs that create new accounts, goes to bronze, and then proceeds to not allow the opponent to score and won't score either, making the match go on for 20+ minutes before the opponent realizes the SSL are trying really hard to make everything believable

To be honest, the first guy is relly good for a d1. The way he moves around the field is really clean, and a lot of the time he has the right ideas, like the touch at 2:16 to setup off the wall with a perfect bounce. If that was done on purpose (and I think it was, from the way he single jumped to hit the ball) is really advanced for a d1. Good job man!

Yeah, we all know the reason: smurfs & boosted accounts, both ruining the Diam1-Champ2 range.

I've thought about this a bit as a D2 and how I would describe the ranks to a new player. I think plat is where players start to learn how to control their car. They have a feel for the basic controls and start to feel comfortable going for aerials, but there are so many whiffs because the mechs aren't there. Diamond is where people start to learn how to control the ball. People can hit the ball 80+% of the time, but the touches aren't always the best and people give away posession all the time. D3/C1 are where I started to see people going for a lot of double taps and resets. Defense and rotations are all over the place in diamond. Some people are walls and others don't even bother playing defense and just ball chase.

A teammate recently said "I improve enough to keep up with my rank" and I feel that's a good view of most of the Diamond rank (myself included). I'm tempted to make a fresh account to see how things would be starting completely fresh. I watch some of the "road to ssl" vids and it looks like they are playing WAY lower level players than I see and wonder if account age/games played impacts match making.

That and possibly the streaks, they are mostly winning so I wonder if the matchmaking does a good job at throwing more accurately ranked players their way.

The thing with diamond in my opinion is that its quite literally random every single game. I play rocket league about 4-8 hours a day since like 2 months ago and I've went up and down between d2 and c1 multiple times, and its not only the inconsistency from me but also the inconsistency from the speed and quality of each game. 1 game was about as slow as the d2 game you showed in the video and then the next game i would be put in a lobby way faster than the d3 one you showed, and I also tend to play down and up to whoever I'm playing against as well so maybe that can be another thing that's the reason why diamond is very random. But I feel like diamond is such a chaotic rank that its almost impossible to sum it up in a 13 minute video.
@alaxt.62153 ай бұрын
I have a theory about Rocket League: I think the game intentionally places most players in a specific rank to prevent them from ever feeling truly accomplished. You might find that one game you're performing exceptionally well, but the next game you feel like you're not doing well at all. Have you considered how your teammates or opponents might be influencing this? I believe Rocket League sometimes assigns teammates or opponents of higher or lower skill levels to balance the game and keep players engaged. Without this challenge, players might lose interest, as it’s the game’s difficulty that keeps them playing. So, even if you're a Champion, you might find yourself stuck in Diamond because the game often pairs you with teammates or opponents of varying skill levels to adjust the match outcome.
@Fall_Craft662710 ай бұрын
As a D2 I can confirm that going up each rank in diamond is like a spike in difficulty compared to the gradual increase in gold of plat. Pretty accurate representation Cbell.

pretty much. I personally rubber band rank in 2v2 like crazy. last week I had a champ promo match and then went on a loss streak and didn't recover until 30 points before plat 3, yesterday bounced back to mid D2. I think that's just the solo q experience though. Skill and playstyle synergy is super varied in such a simple game.

i am d3-c1, most of these players that are "sweaty" are mostly ppl who only grind freeplay and just started playing ranked (i say this by experience, i can do airdribbles and flip resets constantly, and so can my enemies/teammates), i've asked ppl how are they mechy and with decent gamesense and they said they were grinding casuals and freeplay (basically what i do). Also there are a lot of smurfs/gc's from other gamemodes (its really common to find gc tags from 3v3 in 2v2). Also this is in LAN, idk about other regions. Double also zapdash is pretty common, idk if its a hard mech since i find it easy cuz it's just timing but i've heard ppl say its hard so idk

Been hovering between D3 and C1 since ye olde times of 2017/2018. Been in C2 (2s) a handful of times. In my years of diamond experience - the amount of GCs in diamond has increased drastically over these last few years. You never know if they're smurfs, boosted players or the "I only troll in 3s" type of GCs. I mainly play 3s these days and I'm certain this problem is more prevalent in that playlist. In 2s you start seeing these guys a bit later (mby in higher diamond and C1) but in 3s you see a GC tag in every other game in D1/D2

It's actually the same song and dance as any other rank. Climb from D1-D3 Div3 by being hyper focused on your gameplay, managing teammate's mistakes and capitalizing on the opponent's whiffs. Start your rank up game to see two C3 tournament winner banners in the opposing lobby and you watch as you start losing since they are much faster, more skilled, and have comms. They know they will win so they type in chat GGs a minute before the match ends which starts the confidence killer mental game you never need. In a blind rage you press on in hopes of getting your deserved rank back. After a few bad games you have calmed down by practicing in free play and are ready to get your rank back. You then realize you are back to D1 Div2...

I am Champ 2 and all 3 of those diamonds can air dribble as good or better than me. :) I think the issue is that this game has so many ways that you can get good. The result is that you get people who can are clean with a flip reset but can't shadow defend to save their life. I think the biggest thing to make it in champ, is that there is such a mix of play styles and skills. That you just need to get used to/get good at dealing with those things. I cannot do flip resets, but I know when to look for them so that I can try to shut them down or try to cut the play of early if there is a really mechy player in the game.

I have around 1.4k hours in rocket and about 600+ hours were spend in diamond from 2020 to mid 2023, being consistently champion now and having spend so much time in diamond rank range one thing became clear to me, how sometimes you have games where people go absolutelly cracked from both sides with games with insane saves, crazy shots, redirects, double taps, flip resets, ceiling shots and on point rotations to where everyone is silver with teammates bumping each other, missing easy shots or missing the ball entirelly, its all about consistency, diamonds is a super super inconsistent rank, even more then plats and below, its just that rank where its all about how well you manage to play that day, its after diamond when everyone starts to have a baseline consistency of how well they play each day .And with so much variations of playstyles and consistency its no wonder diamond is for so many.

honestly this is the closest and current most accurate situation going on in diamond rn. i used to sit at D3 div4 for about 2 years straight till tm8s dragged me down and made me hardstuck. ive gone through hell to try and fight back up to d3 and i still cant get back there. i always get toxic players, trash players or tm8s that are as low as bronze for some reason in a diamond lobby (being carried or just plays as bad as one). ive stated for years that many diamond players actually have 0 clue how to play. their movement and positioning sucks, they chase, overcommit, would rather focus on going for a corner boost or big boost either than the smaller boost pads or actually defending when they are about to shoot to literally not facing the ball, missing,shadowing for no reason,double committing, tryna play solo in a duo or 3s game, own goaling and not going for the ball when they should or the most infuriating, snaking me and hitting tm8s cause they are apparently blind. just as much as there are good things that players do in diamond ranks, 99 percent of them double uo as bad as well. the thing about diamond players not defending or knowing how to defend is the biggest problem because they only know how to attack and barely even barely know how to do that correctly. i cant trust a single tm8 on rocket league anymore because the second im out of goal, my tm8s are throwing in some way, cant save the ball, refuses to rotate, overcommits and causes an issue, to rotating wide, own goaling and basically anything u can think of. i now can play both however ive had to basically stay in defense every match just to ensure we can win a game and because ik i can save the ball from going in and carry the games to a win because i didnt concede goals like the rest of diamond players always do. being deep in defense isnt a problem in 3s or 2s if u actually no what ur doing and can save the ball but no one knows how to play still. it may be more mechanical in diamond compared to any lower ranks where ppl start learning the mechanics but it means nothing if your the reason every match u play is thrown and u blame others for ur actions. you are your own downfall, thats why im on my way already to getting out of diamond 1 and 2 and heading back into d3.

I think diamond lobbies(d1,d2) are where the weekend warriors peak and simply have amazing game sense and reading of the game play. Anything higher than that you have players genuinely trying to grind out the ranks. Unfortunately, it seems like you have plat1-c2 players bounding in and of diamond currently.
@AaronKelley9 ай бұрын
I peaked at Diamond 3 in season 10 for a short while and could go into tournaments pretty easily. Diamond tournaments now consistently include a smurf that managed to solo the lobby or a team that was high champ a season or two ago. I can barely maintain diamond 1 now, and that's with a lot of improvement that I can see in my own replays. I have a lot to improve on myself, but it's an absolute cluster when you get a past-champ teammate one game, then the next you get a teammate whose rank is normally plat 2-3. Then some of those games, the champ has movement like a plat, then others the plat has movement like a champ; it's usually adaptable but when it's so over the place it's more difficult to adapt to such drastic play styles. It is truly a bumfuzzling experience.
@itapyouout950610 ай бұрын
I've been a D1 for the majority of Season 12/13. Sometimes I get up to D2. You see a lot of plat level game sense or mechanics. Game speed is often faster than the video here, but maybe that's just my play style. You can tell people are trying to slow it down and focus on dribbling. Often times catching the ball in their corner and setting up the dribble. Rotations are almost an afterthought in 2s, although you do catch people breaking them. In 3s you get way more people breaking rotation/chasing... still better than plat though. Kick-offs are nearly 50/50 with how many speed flips I see. I still can't do it but I win the majority of my kick-offs anyway by focusing on the center of the ball. For mechanics, DAR is pretty common and some people do it very well. No flip resets, if you see that it's probably a smurf. Often times players take the ball up the wall and try to air dribble with 1, maybe 2 bounces. There is also a lot of them taking the ball up the opponents back board and trying to pass it back to teammates for a shot. There are some pretty good demos in the opponents goal or when they're rotating back to catch the opponent in the middle of a dribble. Toxicity is much less than plat but if you get a toxic teammate the game is pretty much lost.

I am again c1/d3 this season and it really depends on the lobby, i play with and friend and were are more of gamesense type of players but the mechs from the opponets are somtimes so random, a few reset mustys on you the next one is a double tab master and the other times there are people that can't hit an open net. A huge problem are also the smurf i am impressed that they havn't got an smurf in there lobby, I get 6/10 times a guy who is plat 1 ranked with an normal c1 d3 (they try to balance the mmr) tm8 which double flip resets and and has the greatest mechanics that i have ever seen (I rank in europe btw). Diamond is where you get stuck until you actually put in practice to get out of it. It's essentially the last rank you can casually go up and down into by just queuing over and over and never touching practice or freeplay. Id say this vid got some very good diamond games. They can get a whole lot worse than that.
@bluejesus10510 ай бұрын
The main problem with diamond players are constant unreal blunders. I play duos. - Double commiting in corners while defending or attacking - Going for big boosts while being last man simply letting the other team score an empty net. - Overall being unable to play as a last man and unwillingness to defend. - Horrible positioning What I would call smaller problems are - Throwing yourself into enemy net in hopes of somehow scoring even though you dont even have an angle or are obviously late - Diamonds often try to defend thier net of the side of their backboard when its not even necessary, missing the ball 90 percent of the time resulting in a free goal. I would also add diamond 3 or low champ is a place where people start to seem like they actually start to care for winning and think about what they are doing while below this rank many people are similiar in skill but are simply not trying to go for a result. The problem i observed that stays in champ is going for big boosts and letting your net open. The saddeset type of goal youll see in champ lol.

I must say that it is very frustrating to see that people who are diamonds get in videos like that and lie about what diamond games are, when you are diamond, the games are mostly slow, the guy that is in diamond 2 in the video doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, I've been diamond for over 6 months and this guy clearly doesn't know what being diamond is. Then for the guy that's in diamond 3, he says that there are no smurfs, though if you find yourself a teammate and do 2s with him, there is a 90% chance you'll go against a guy that has 700-750 elo or even lower accompanied with a guy that has 1000-1050 elo, smurfs are a real problem in diamond games. + all of them act like diamond is fast but literally everyone in diamond games do bad aerials, ballchase and will start getting toxic at you although they made the mistake and not you, additionally I highly believe that all of them got in lucky games that do not represent most of diamond games.

Now it’s smurfs every so often since we’re later into the season but mostly I’ve been able to make some good movement towards Champ. Champ feels consistent and i can expect things so much better because the players all have similar skill levels in mechanics and positioning, but diamond had such a huge variety of skill that I could be playing amazingly and the opponents were just gods hitting flip reset double taps and my team were missing a lot of aerials and could not defend a dribble. A solo queue rank and a team rank would be more honest. IMO The best way to explain diamond is that we are all struggling with consistency at this time. One day I can be hitting musty flicks and air dribbles and the next day I'm missing the ball a lot. Another thing that diamonds deal with is, people who play with their higher ranked friends. They aren't that good of diamonds, and now they're playing with a diamond not their higher ranked friend. I'm missing the double tap and they don't know where to be. But if I'm playing with a diamond who got there solo queuing like I did, he knows where to be and the game feels faster because we're all actually at the same pace. That being said, we would have a more honest definitive ranking system only in a solo queue system, in my opinion. Then teams could be for team queuing and more of an honest team rank.

Me and my buddy have been diamond 3/champ 1 for the longest time now. The inconsistency is insane. We’ll win and rank up into champ, then verse 2 extremely good teams (usually always good matches within 1 point) then if we lose and go back down to diamond we end up against people who seem like they don’t belong there at all and end up getting a FF 2 minutes into the match. Also, the problem I find with diamond is there’s a lot of people on smurfs/alt accounts carrying their friend (the friend isn’t even “bad” either just not as consistent). These people aren’t hitting triple flip resets, but they’re so consistent that it’s pretty easy to tell they aren’t a diamond 3/champ 1. Then I look at their rocket league tracker and see they have 150 wins. This happens at least once or twice every time I play for about an hour and a half with my friend.

When I go into casual though, I put up against season 13 champion tournament winners. I honestly don't understand the rank system anymore.

I’m happy as a diamond that I’m good at defense, but I have seen diamond 1 players that should be champ 😂

the thing is...most diamonds are sweaty champs (like myself) that keep getting gatekeeped back down to diamond... can hit crazy clips but my wifi is dog so I can't consistently climb with lag spikes every 20-30 seconds. the rest of diamonds are plats that either got carried up there by their friends (like my friends) or are just good enough at a specific thing (positioning, boost control, defense, etc.) that they got out of plat. Diamond truly is the massive pit that funnels those that are just becoming decent and those that aren't consistent enough to be solid champ or higher.

Diamond 1v1 gameplay is actually wild you should check it out. Half of it is bots and half of it are mechanical gods

I've fluctuated from D1 to C1 this season and none of it really felt any different... some games you get stomped, some games you dominate. Zero Consistency.

You wanna know the mess that's diamond? That D1 player you had is definitely better than I am, and I'm D3

I have been Diamond for as long as I can remember other than the beginning of rocket league. I mainly stay in d2 where it’s all over the place. I quit 2’s for a bit and started my 1’s journey. My placement was plat3. As a rocket league player who has like 7/10 mechs and 8/10 game sense, and who has been in Diamond for an eternity, I can vouch that it is messed up! My first 4 matches in ranked were at least d1, keep in mind I didn’t start ranking till the middle of the season, my last 6 matches went strait to gc and champ. As I gone through d1 I encountered 1 champ, just 1. But my last 6 matches were tough but they felt like my level. I lost about 3 matches. It’s been a journey but I have decided to quit ranking until the ranks are fixed. I personally recommend players that are in low ranks to be challenged with the rank higher than them, and if they win, they get that rank, and if they lose they keep quit. As respectfully as can be, most players are bad, and some people are good. I hope that I can get a chance to show my skill to prove I deserve better than Diamond, but that’s all just a luck based request. My user is Phazist.

"I compared the rank titled 'Diamond' in two unrelated games and *surprise* Diamond rank in game 1 is different than the Diamond rank in game 2!" In all honesty though, great vid. Good comparison of D1 - D3. I'm glad you asked if the games were typical in each case, too. From my perspective as a filthy casual Diamond 2 (in 2's) player, games can be wildly different. I understand how it all seems uniformly mediocre from a high-level player, though.

Diamond 1 here: imagine these 3 games happening every other game and 2/3 games your teammate “Nice Shot!”’s you when you miss once.

my duo partner and I have been sitting top diamond / bottom of champ for about a year now, and we don't have nearly the mechanics of some of the players you showed here. just consistent fundamentals. this looks a lot like what we see every game, except half the time one of our opponents is capable of flip resetting and doing insane air dribbles if they are allowed to have control of the ball.

Honestly, from only those games it's hard to realize the truth about disparity in diamond. First game looked like a top gold game, second one could be anywhere from plat 2 to d2, the d3 game looked regular, not too crazy, d1 game in my eyes. Surprisingly, the players on their own in freeplay are way better than the game they played. But I've played top plat games way crazier than any of these games and d2 games way worse than any of them too... I've deranked to plat 2 recently and got into lot of games with players able to score resets, passing plays and double taps. Went back to d1 and the games got much easier. I'm talking solo queue. Teaming up (usually I play with former champs hard stuck in diamond), the level is globally higher. But everything you said is true. Inconsistency is the main issue in diamond, people are getting better and are getting greedier (I know I am). At some point it feels like the more you think you improve, the worse you play :)

Im usually high diamond 1 but was in mid-high diamond 2 earlier this season and it was a nice change. I felt like my teammates were in much better position more of the time much like this D2 game. I was getting 2-3 assists a game because my teammates would have better finish too (i can't aim for the life of me when I shoot but have good awareness) I solo queue with no mic so i find competition and teammates vary wildly from game to game but hey, so does my own game. I feel I'm where I should be for Rank and the variety in Diamond isn't all bad because I can try and learn from the games I go up against anyone much better than me.

One thing I’ve noticed in diamond 2-3 is it’s one guy that’s pretty good carrying his low diamond or plat team mate while his mate just bumps
