@@Austin66411 More like there is no such thing as a "dumb" grand champion that can be more dumb than even the "smartest" Diamond. Higher ranked players have better reads, consistency, and lethality. You don't need to be "smart" when in this game when you can just read the physics, opponent, and/or teammates and just do what you want. Even in 1v1, it's really who gets the better touches and better reads. Diamonds, no matter how "smart" they are consciously just don't have the subconscious read on the physics, let alone what other players are going to do with the ball to challenge.

I don't think CBell realizes the vast difference in skill there is with a p3 1s player and a d3 1s player. He told the smart diamond this as a confidence boost, but I feel like if you are grinding 1s you'll know passing D1 is a tough barrier, then getting D3 is even more so. I also don't really see how the GC player is 'dumb' other than going for some fancy plays, but that's how you grow!

I am that sort of player that goes freeplay and tries to learn fancy mechs but ends up just going for simple and effective stuff in game unless winning comfortably. Patience and going for right challenge is more important than most mechs

i think learning mechanics is needed but you should stop trying for more after a point (unless you have chosen the freestyler way). And for me, that point is when you can hit a simple flip reset outplay ,(insta pop or delayed) simple airdribble (airroll is not that needed) and ball read/basically mastering double taps but not the things like redirects and triple flip resets since you have %15 chance of pull them off in game. i think this level that I'm talking about is probably valid for d2 to gc3. Nevertheless, mechanics are %40 of the game for me.

I can relate to the diamond a lot. I have no mechs but have played a lot of soccer and basketball which I feel helped a lot getting me to diamond. I've been hard stuck since so I decided it's time to start practicing mechs like air roll, dribbling, flicks. I can see a noticeable difference and was able to get to d2 recently. I just gotta say man air roll is one of the most bizzare mechs of any game I've played. It's so hard to understand and makes no sense until you start making adjustments subconsciously then with repetition the brain starts figuring it out.

What this video shows is that if you have worse mechanics than your opponent, you have to play very smart, patient AND pray that they throw in order to win. These scorelines would look a lot more onesided if the GC had just gone for more straightforward attacks that didn't all leave him in the Diamond's net with 0 boost

What weird is that it seems champ games are easier than diamond games. In champ everything is predictable, I know if I’ll make it or not, if I’m being outplayed and need to retreat. In diamond anything can happen anytime. Your tm will fake you, your opponents also (even if they do so unwillingly). You’ll be challenged CONSTANTLY

Don't focus on ceiling shots or air dribbles, for now, just learn some ground dribbling and good control and some flicks... When you get to plat then you have to start training on your air control that includes a fast way to get to the ball while it's up in the air and maybe some air dribbling too

I have the same problem. Diamond in 2s and plat in 1s. Can’t speedflip, never fast arial, never do a quick backflip, can’t airdribble 😂 I just compensate with positioning, taking advantage of mistakes and occasionally surprise with shots from awkward positions 🤷‍♂️
