You mentioned parts of the song sounding so different from each other. Great observation! The BigHit producers take pieces of song bits that people send to them & fit them together with stuff they or the members have also been working on. The end result is a song that often sounds really different all the way through. This helps create constant interest for the listener 👍

have you watched this 2018 series - there is an episode for each member that gives good background for each member in their own video. while it will not have the most recent information, their background that is covered in them remains unchanged. When they performed this at the award show, they were SO exhausted. There is a video of them backstage going back to their seats literally CRAWLING up the stairs. They give everything they have into putting on a great show for their fans, That is one of the MANY, MANY reasons why I love these guys. I am almost 67 years old, and have seen a lot of bands, musical artists, etc. but had never seen such true love from an artist to their fans before. I feel like a proud grandma who is So happy that I discovered this wonderful group of men who have literally changed my life. I'm so proud of them and what they"ve accomplished that I could just burst.

When they change to Korea version, remix version or japanese version the lyrics change slightly. Because they have to match their meaning with the sentence structure of the language they are using. Some words don't exist in other languages it have different meanings in the language.

I think the biggest differences between the "Mic Drop" original version and the remix version are 1. ofc the beat changes and 2. the language changes -> they changed a lot of the korean lyrics to english. The whole chorus is basically in english in the remix as well as namjoons verse. And also info for you: BigHit only started adding english subtitles at the beginning of 2020 so I recommend looking for videos like the Mic Drop MV Behind from channels like 'Bangtan Subs'. They added english subtitles to all these videos (Bangtan Bomb, BTS Episode etc.) to make the ARMY life easier.

Spoons, re S Korean culture relates to the economic structure. Korean classes of gold, silver, bronze, plastic and land. J Hope wasnt happy he was labelled as ground spoon! That's why he mentions gold spoons which he can use to cover the mouths of BTS haters. However, the song also alludes to never underestimating the dreams of a person, even if it seems unreachable for you. Mic drop is an indication of performance is finished, but with BTS its 'enuf said'

Mic drop is actually one of the songs I used to show people when I tried to get them into BTS and kpop in general As I commented in another reaction I just love how they are able to snapback at haters without using profanity and stuff like that and keeping it on a some kind of poetic level through the lyrics. Hi Chalfant. I don't know if you noticed but the first live was in Japanese, the video lyrics in Korean and the MV was mostly in English. You're doing a huge and exemplary job that will attract more and more Army, and watch out if Mrs Chalfant becomes Army too, soon she'll join us for her reaction requests. Let me complete your information on this track about what there is need to know about it (All this will allow you to make the connections between the different works of BTS later in your expertise). “MIC DROP” - written and composed by RM, J-Hope, Hitman Bang, Pdogg and Supreme Boi - is a song BTS wrote aimed towards their haters. Throughout the song, they show how much they’ve achieved coming from a small company with no real influence in the kpop world, and point out to their haters that they’re doing great. They conclude the song with a verse saying this is it, they feel no need to pursue talking to their haters anymore, as they feel their accomplishments speak for them. Here the explanations of some lines: YEAH, WHO SAID MY SPOON IS DIRTY? I DON’T CARE, WHEN I GRAB THE MIC, I HAVE SEVERAL GOLD SPOONS In Korea, spoons are used as a metaphor social class. BTS' haters frequently referred to them as ‘dirty spoons’, as they come from a small company that wasn’t very rich or well-known before BTS' rise to fame. J-Hope is essentially saying “yeah, who’s saying we’re trash? I don’t care, when I’m rapping, I’m the best.‘’ SEVERAL UNCOOKED STEAKS OVER THERE MAKE ME MAD ONCE AGAIN, I’LL CHEW YOU ALL UP Beef is a quite expensive item in South Korea. By referring to them as “you,” it’s likely he’s referring to golden spoons or silver spoons whom waste wealth and don’t utilize their talents - basically, they are uncooked steaks. They make him mad with their waste. SORRY MOM, YOUR SON’S TOO HOT I’M BEING A GOOD SON IN PLACE OF YOU Suga chose these lyrics because his mother never supported his love for music throughout his childhood and even threw away his lyrics. Because this song is for haters, I guess this is his way of proving himself and how he doesn’t need hers or anyone else’s approval. I really respect him. Min Yoongi fighting! THIS IS THE THE EXACT SAYING RIGHT WILL PREVAIL IN THE END ONCE UPON A TIME AESOP’S FABLES FLY (Translate from Korean lyrics) “Aesop’s Fables” is a collection of stories written by Aesop. They belong to the literacy genre of fable, a fictional story which features animals or inanimate objects with humane qualities (such as the ability to talk). A moral lesson is key at the end of the story. An example of one of Aesop’s Fables is The Hare and the Tortoise. What I think Namjoon is trying to say is that BTS are skyrocketing similarly to how Aesop’s stories eventually did. This is because like Aesop’s stories, BTS’s songs have deeper meanings and moral teachings (“right will prevail in the end”). NO NEED TO SEE EACH OTHER EVER AGAIN, THIS IS MY LAST GOODBYE NOTHING MORE LEFT TO SAY, DON’T EVEN APOLOGIZE They are talking straight to their haters, suggesting that they have said all they’ve had to say and won’t be wasting any more time on them. Mic Drop, JHope shine so much in this song. I replay their dance practice so many times, and JHope really shows why he is the dance leader in BTS. "Sorry Mom" is like an echo voice from inside and always sung by JHope. The behind scene was so funny when RM cant open the door, lol. Just FYI, for older bangtan bombs or behind the scenes, there are no subs, but there is a channel called Bangtan Subs that added eng subs. This was was before Bighit finally included subs in their vids which was maybe a bit more than a year ago, for anything older you can find it on that other channel with correct subs.

MIC Drop was the first video I watched! I was amazed by the choreography and "did you see my bag? Did you see my bag?" was stuck on my head for weeks. It wasn't exactly what I expected them to sound like. Also, I was curious to know the name of the first one. J-hope is such a nice dancer, isn't it? If your wife is looking for another song to add to that playlist I would suggest Not Today...it is the song that made me really look closer at BTS (I had heard some songs before that but more of the really upbeat pop stuff which wasn't really my style as much so I never looked up the meanings etc) Not Today made me stop and listen and look up the lyrics etc and then I started looking up more and more....and now I live here ;) anyway BTS has a few songs that are great on a workout playlist and I think it is one of them.

One of my fav BTS songs! I introduced it to my band students this year (reinforcing the importance of steady beat). My gr. 5 & 6 classes request it all the time when we pack-up instruments. It's a great carrot to dangle to get my students to work hard during rehearsal so they can get the BTS prize at the end of class 😁 Thanks for the multiple versions in this reaction! Yesss, after your wife had added her playlist "Mic Drop", maybe, she became an army!!!! Ohhh, that information about Steve Aoki´dad was new for me. Thank you!. I think, 1st JHope who is in front of the choreography, 2nd, Jimin, and Jkook, shows their abilities with his bodies. Even, when all of them dance pretty good. But I imagen the two boys, JHope and Jimin, teaching the choreography to the rest. I knew, later, V was one who added to the dance line, after his song "Singularity". He appeared in "ON kinectic manifest come prima" in LA, as the second person after Jimin in the choreography. And both guys, wore White clothes. and the rest of the boys, were in black. The RM part, always makes me laugh and always reminds me of the behind of scenes and not being able to go out of the ambulance. Also, it is not the first time he has broken things. hahah....And BFree after that.....I imagen living in Hawaii again!Thank you and hard work, Chalfant!!!!!

Mic Drop live performance was sooo awesome we saw them in Speak yourself concert, the raplines performed “Outro: Tear” first then the vocal line came out to perform “Mic Drop”. I was so impressed with them - singing & dancing live - but I guess seeing the ocean of army bombs out there, they were so hyped and gave everything they got on stage, in fact we were super hyped too 😆. Old BTS videos like the behind the scenes didn’t have English subs. BigHit just recently started adding those. That’s why the channel Bangtan subs was helping international Army by adding subs. If you start any old BTS video and don’t find subs, try Bangtan Subs channel, they definitely made a eng subs video for it. I hope that will help you in the future. 33:15 the cc are auto generated. if it's auto generated, please find another translation, no need to change the language in the settings, because it is autogenerated, so the translation is wrong. the Bangtan TV only add the engsubs mostly from 2020 so the old video is still no subtitles on it, so when you search the video, You just need to type the title and add the engsubs on it. or you can just go to the BangtanSubs channel and type the title in the search bar on the channel. they provide very good translations for BTS contents. please don't sick of us for telling you to look the video with the correct translation, we just want you to have a good perspective on what they're saying. and of course we wacthed it again with you, so yeah.. For behind the scenes videos like Bangtan Bombs or Episodes, Big Hit only started adding subtitles a year ago. All of them with subtitles are marked with "CC". Anything before that has no translations on official videos (other than music videos). The subtitles you are seeing here are English Auto-generated. It basically takes the speech and guesses what English words are being said based on the sound, it's not a translation. Some words are occasionally correct because sometimes they say English words. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Bighit only started putting English subs on the Bangtantv videos last year. If you’re watching anything before 2020, there are no subs. ARMYs had to rely on a channel called Bangtan Subs for translations by a bilingual ARMY. Although, I saw some screenshots of what seems like Bighit translating older videos in batches. Not sure how true that is since I haven’t checked yet.

I just watched your Gold Disc Awards Performance reaction on your Patreon, and you had said "Did you see Jimin hit JK's microphone flip." While it is true that ocassionally JK will flip his microphone, and the first time you saw it was indeed when JK did it during the Dynamite performance, I just wanted to clarify, Jimin did his own microphone flip. It's actually something Jimin is quite well known for in live performances and there are many many compilations about it. I know it's not really a big deal at all, but I still think it's important to clarify when things are incorrect even if they are small. :) I hope it's okay that I posted the response here. :)

So I think while Jimin likely has done his own or continues to do his own, it’s JK’s flip specifically that I described. So maybe a better way to phrase it would’ve been “oh Jimin did the microphone flip that JK traditionally does in the Dynamite performances” rather than deeming the flip as JK’s (like he owns it or something). I think it is mistaken to overemphasize Be Free. He engaged in a singular moronic act which is kind of folklore. But at the time Mic Drop was written Be Free was not a significant irritant. More to the point would be certain fans of EXO who lit up the internet with accusations, smears and straight up hate attacks as they perversely felt the increasing success by BTS would take the spotlight off their favorite group. When you listen to many histories of BTS trials and hardships, the attacks particularly in the middle years were mostly from EXO fans, be it accusations of plagiarism, break Wings, contesting award show results or the like. This fan activity was supported directly by EXO's management company which used extortionist media control to promote their financial interests in their top flight group. Let me say EXO members are friendly with BTS and their group simply is another top tier group, one that for a couple years arguably was K Pop's most loved. Many of their fans are good and decent, but given the power of the internet a few bad ones can sway otherwise admiring fans into becoming frenzied attack dogs who act outside their more typical behaviors due to the distorted leadership of the bad ones. I think this is not uncommon. As an American I feel I am still watching that kind of thing in my country so I think it doesn't take many to make hate fashionable. I believe Mic Drop has its origins in this anti storm and not Be Free who after all was only addressing RM and Suga.

Interesting lyric video, because I’ve never seen those lyrics before, they were different or translated in his/her own words it seems. I’ve always only just read the MV lyrics for Mic Drop, I didn’t think to check out other translations for that one for some reason. About the last video, there’s some extra behind-the-scenes footage of the MV shooting from one of their DVDs, I think it might be the Memories 2017 dvd and I think it my be on YT but low quality. Anyway, there was one part where the guys were instructed to run away at a certain part when it will explode, and Jin kinda cut or scratch his hand when he did. He went up to Jimin for sympathy showing the palm of his hand and Jimin kissed his boo boo lol. I thought that was cute and funny. Jimin had also fell backwards during the shooting but he was okay.
