When I was a young lad my sister had just got married and was leaving to go on her honeymoon from Victoria dtation and the family went to see her off, the train she was travelling on was hauled by Battle of Britain Class Winston Churchill, I was able to 'cab' it and the driver put me down at the end of the platform. Those were the days

Much as I enjoy seeing steam locomotives in Carlisle maybe you train spotters could use your common sense and get out of the way of people who are actually there to catch trains. It was hellish trying to get on the Dumfries service with 200+ train spotters with cameras cluttering up the already narrow platform.

Thank you for watching! You'll find most of the people there were railway enthusiasts, not trainspotters. Train spotting is writing down numbers, as you say they had cameras. Most of these railway enthusiasts will have travelled there on the charter trains and when they're paying over £100 for the trip it's only reasonable that they get a chance to see the locomotive they've travelled behind. Everyone I saw were behaving perfectly fine. Only two of them were letting the other enthusiasts down. One was a young lad who was on the wrong side of the yellow line. The other way the infamous David Moyle who had three tripods and was getting in everyone's way. Other than those two, everyone else who was there was behaving as expected and they have every right to be there!

What you call yourselves really doesn't matter use the other platform it's extremely irritating to have to put up with it constantly and this week was particularly bad. The station exists so people who need to travel can Unbelievably we all pay to use the trains as well who'd have thought! The difference being we're trying to get to and from work not on a jolly day out. Several of us have submitted complaints to the station manager. That platform. Is at best eight feet wide six if you take in to account the yellow lines show some respect for us poor sods that have to pay to use the awful crap that stops there.

@@washersdryersradios So what you're saying is you enjoy seeing steam trains at Carlisle but on you are allowed to see them! Steam trains will continue to visit Carlisle, quite often with more than one on one day, if you don't like it, don't travel on those days. I have no interest in football and I where possible avoid travelling where I know a football match is taking place. I don't demand that they don't hold football matches just because I don't like the crowds going to them. People going to football matches have as much right to use the railway as I do and people going to see steam trains have as much right to use the railway station as you do!

@@HenrysAdventures Not the point raised the point is you can look at them as much as you want but stop getting in the way of the people and I'm talking about people with prams Pushchairs and mobility scooters that need to get down the platform to get the services we rely on. I've no problem with the steam trains just the inconsiderate apparent majority of you lot that are incapable behaving in a sensible manner. On that note complaints have been submitted about the use of that part of the platform for " enthusiasts" you and I both know Avanti's staff had to request and then order people out of the way more than once.

@@washersdryersradios As long as they're stood behind the yellow line there's not much you can do. You just have to be patient and say "excuse me". The steam loco is often only there for about 10 minutes after arrival and then she'll depart to turn. Maybe you should suggest the Scotrail Trains use the adjacent Platform 8, rather than Platform 7 as then there wouldn't be "people in your way". But as I've already said the charter trains will continue to visit Carlisle Railway Station and there's not a lot you or Avanti can do about it.
