Not a fan of the banana slicing idea...youre just left with a messy rack thats harder to clean up than a knife wouldve been. Rather pointless!
@vogette615 жыл бұрын
Julie Windsor - agree! How hard is it to cut a banana in slices?!?
@Bunefoo4015 жыл бұрын
Agree ... far easier just to slice the banana with a butter knife
@harveyputnick81865 жыл бұрын
If I'm blending 5-6 bananas for a recipe or...pancakes Is want to peel half and push them thru a rack. I could rinse that ,take a soapy brush and be clean in seconds. Much faster that a knife and cut board For over 1 banana of course. Wouldn't you agree?
@GFlCh5 жыл бұрын
@@harveyputnick8186 - I think if you tried it, you'd find it rather cumbersome. Here are some of the downsides: - The thickness of a cut made by the "wires" of the rack is many times thicker than the cut of a knife, and the sharpness of the "wires" is much less than the sharpness of a knife. This means it takes many times more force/effort to make a single cut with the "wires" of the rack, than with a knife. - In addition to that, since you're trying to make almost all the cuts at once, it requires a lot of force/effort (compared to using a knife). - This means it wouldn't be very effective with a banana of normal ripeness, it has to be very ripe. - Also having to press so hard means the rack could slide off the bowl or the bowl could tip over. This means you have to proceed more slowly and deliberately meaning it could take longer than using a knife. - The cuts using the "wires" of the rack are not uniform, very uneven. While not critically important, it would likely affect how appealing the final food preparation looks. - With the fixed spacing of the "wires" of the rack, you're limited to making banana slices of one thickness. We call this thickness "too thick", at least for most uses of banana slices. With a knife, you can easily cut banana slices of various thicknesses. - If you're cutting up many bananas, using a longer knife you can lay out many bananas along side each other, and cut many banana slices with each knife cut. This lessens the advantage of using the rack to cut many banana slices at once. - As others have mentioned, it's just messier in general and harder to clean up.
@sjagain5 жыл бұрын
@@harveyputnick8186 Why would you need a cutting board? You peel 1/2 the banana then slice it in the other 1/2.

It's probably easier to start with jello and not use as much water as the directions call for. The bottom layer often winds up in a similar consistency if you don't adequately mix it up.
