Another excellent video, really interesting. Love your knowledge and so fun to watch. Thank you! PS you struck a lot curious which one you'd use in competition.

Thanks again😊 I would use the perfect mindset with a little more surface to slow the response time down just a touch. It looked the best to my eyes and I was able to play the area of the lane that I wanted without changing too much of my game (release, speed, etc). Even though the effect looked decent, I had to change my release drastically and I'm not sure how consistent I would be with that release. And if all else failed, the hammer axe did look pretty good too 😄😉

Fascinating to watch the different balls all react to this short pattern. Also makes me acknowledge I should get my Beyond Infinity redrilled to the layout of my other ball.
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
It's pretty cool, right? They all do something different, which is great to see! You may not need to get it redrilled...might just want to pick one layout for the new ones you get here on out!
@StephRenee8125 ай бұрын
@bowlwithVALue speaking of redrilling.. Do you think that changes the ball motion? Or nothing that will be noticed?
@bowlwithVALue4 ай бұрын
I think it depends....It definitely changes things, but to what degree? I used all re-drilled stuff growing up because my parents couldn't afford brand new balls for me as a teenager, so I was grateful for hand-me-downs. I still averaged ~220 and was able to average >200 on some sport shots. I re-drill bowling balls now if the fit isn't correct or if I absolutely hate the initial reaction instead of letting the ball go to waste!

Nice video. I’ve never been able to read the lanes like that. Never figured out how to read the front part of the lanes. I’ve always figured if my ball is hooking to much just go to something that hooks less instead of what it’s doing in the front part of the lanes.
@bowlwithVALue2 ай бұрын
Oooo good point! Watching the ball read the lanes front-to-back is a major part of the equation 🤯

Loved the video. Especially since you threw a bunch of my favorite balls! I'm still figuring out my Perfect Mindset, but I really like it. My top score is only 160 though. I pick up my Theorem from my PSO on Tuesday, which replaces my original Infinity (eaten by the return, 70 large gouges). I absolutely love the original Infinity. I can bowl 189 with it even with all of the damage (for some reason I always choke on the 10th frame...). I don't have the other balls you threw, but hope to someday. First, I have got to get another Infinity! My top scoring ball is my Rhino at 198, but I'm not a fan of it. Keep these videos coming! They are EXTREMELY helpful!
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
Ooo interesting, they replaced the infinity with a theorem? was that by choice? My infinity and theorem are on opposite ends of the spectrum....🙃 if you love your infinity, I would try to get another one to replace it! Hopefully you can surpass that 200 mark for your high game soon!!
@GrumpaBaggins7 ай бұрын
@bowlwithVALue The PSO at the alley made the choice of the Theorem because he couldn't get an Infinity through his vendor (and because I think he's just dying to drill one, lol). I can still find the Infinity on Amazon in my lbs, so I'm definitely going to go for another! Thank you for your insight on the Theorem vs Infinity. That is something I will need to know. As always, I appreciate you, Valerie!
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
Hahaha the theorem really is a great ball! Just not close in how it rolls compared with the infinity, IMO. Might need some surface to slow the response down, or he could drill it to roll slower for you. I would put your normal layout on it though especially if you're replacing the infinity!

@bowlwithVALue Here are the stats that he generated and the layout he went with for both the Infinity and Perfect Mindset. I still have no idea what the layout numbers actually mean as far as ball motion. Seems like every video on here just goes over the math and not the motion. My PSO doesn't talk much, so I haven't gotten much out of him. Lol. PAP Left 5 Up 1 3/8 Layout 30 x 4 1/4 x 35°
@GrumpaBaggins7 ай бұрын
@bowlwithVALue I just got to throw the Theorem for the first time today. I learned (by accident) that the layout my PSO has been drilling on all of my balls actually only works if I throw the balls at under 10 mph. That's a huge challenge as I throw 16 - 20 mph (clocked at the pins). Ugh! I wondered why every ball went so straight!

Helpful video as my sport shot league is on a 35 ft pattern currently. I was throwing a black widow 3.0 up the gutter with some success
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
Yay! Yes, that could be an option for sure since it's a bigger, stronger ball....for me because of my tilt/rotation, it would still probably be too quick response unless I change my release.

I am a higher tilt as well and low to med rotation. Love your videos.

For my play style when I play on short I had good success with the scorpion low flare, the purple works too however it forces me to the right and more behind it.
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
Yesss that makes sense. I didn’t have my purple with me but urethane is kind of the obvious first choice for most people on shorter patterns. Another favorite of mine is to use a really big strong solid asym like the original mindset and even better with a 2” pin

Thanks for the information. Looking forward to the long pattern video. Quick question. Why did you move right after missing left? I was taught move in the direction of your miss. Or are there different rules for different pattern lengths?
@bowlwithVALue7 ай бұрын
Yes, great question! On typical house patterns, that is for sure the recommendation, but on really short patterns you have to still get your ball to the breakpoint of whatever the pattern length minus 31 is (for this one: 35-31 = 4). I could have moved left, but I still would have had to get it to around 4, which makes it really difficult to control; what if you miss left a touch? or send it right with more speed? Whereas, if you play short patterns further right with a smoother, slower response, it's easier to get it to around the 4 board at the breakpoint with a more controllable reaction! Does that make sense? 🙏
@hazalmohammed6 ай бұрын
@@bowlwithVALue That makes sense. I’m guessing it’s because the ball hits friction on a shorter pattern sooner so moving left is the wrong move in that case. I guess my follow up question is how do you know the length of the pattern if it’s not given to you? Or is that just a guessing game to use the 31 rule? Thanks.
@bowlwithVALue6 ай бұрын
Another good question. If I don't know the length of the pattern, it's tough to have that preconceived guess of the breakpoint using the rule of 31....which if you "know" what the pattern is, it can actually be detrimental sometimes if it isn't playing like you think it should 🙃 Regardless, I like to start with my benchmark ball in my favorite part of the lane and just see what's out there! Where does it start to hook and where do I need to get it to at the breakpoint in order to hit the pocket correctly? We have an arsenal video coming up this Sunday that will have some tips along these lines 😉

@@bowlwithVALue Looking forward to the arsenal video. Currently trying to put together a three ball arsenal for league since committing to six seems like overkill for a house shot. Still experimenting with smooth versus sharp ball combinations, but putting together a three ball arsenal seems more daunting than putting together a six ball arsenal. Curious if this video will be a six ball video or a three ball video since I rarely see the latter. Thanks for all the info thus far.
@bowlwithVALue6 ай бұрын
6 ball arsenal, sorry! I was thinking earlier today when I was working with a gal heading to Jr Gold that a 5 ball arsenal would have been great for all of them....especially bowling on different patterns and needing versatile balls that can be used on short/medium/long. If you're building a 3 ball arsenal, I would have a urethane or axe for spares and potentially really dry/short conditions, then a solid asymmetric like the Black widow 3.0 or Radical Conspiracy and a hybrid/pearl symmetric, like the GB4 hybrid
