Thank you! Also watched the prior video you shot leading up to this one. New Jeep owner here. Purchased a brand new 2 door Willys last year and I'm still getting a rush each time I drive! I specifically chose the Willys due to the larger 32" stock tires with the 1" lift. A year has passed, and now I'm craving a slightly more aggressive look for her. Just wasn't sure if 35s were going to be too big, but after seeing your video it looks like the proportions are good! I also thought bigger tires meant adding an additional lift, but I can see now that it's unnecessary.... might even be a bit overkill. Wondering how your 35s effect your driving/handling and mileage?? She's my daily ride!

Great vid, I am thinking of this on my 23 rubicon 4 door. Did it rub when full turn climbing a rock or obstacle. Also have you done any of this with some more weight? A passenger and possibly some gear? I think the extra pounds might get it to rub, but still this was impressive.

Thanks for watching! And for me personally I like the 2 door better because off-road it’s got the best break over angle, is super easy to maneuver and since I don’t have kids the backseats are good for the occasional 3 or 4 person trip and then when I go on a long trip I can just remove them all together for more space. But if you have kids, the 4 door will be MUCH better day to day getting people in and out of the back. But if no for me and what I do it’s 2 door all the way 👍🏻

@drivenmad2089
@drivenmad2089 2 жыл бұрын
No spacers were added. However since you said you have a sport, the only reason 35’s fit with no lift is because the rubicon trim has the high line fenders. So you’ll probably run into to some rubbing eight the regular sport fenders.
@Ownuout
@Ownuout 2 жыл бұрын
@@drivenmad2089 Thanks for the reply, I have seen Extreme Terrain videos with 35's on no-lift Sport/Sport S with no rub as long as you use a 17x9 with good offset and backspacing and remove the front bumper wind guard. I've even seen it on a Willys. Now, the Willy's does have Rubi-ish suspension setup, but the fenders are not higher. I'll triple triple check before I pull the trigger, but I think it just may work. If not, I can go 305/70R 17's (34.4") or probably be happy with 117T rated 285/70R 17s 33" ATs, It's a daily driver. Thanks for reply! Keep up the videos, they help a lot!

Great video and I love these because I just ordered a 2-dr rubicon stick shift and it's my first jeep. I want to ease into the mods and I'm looking at the same 35" K02s but on rims that will stick out 2 more inches. Does the outer edge of the fender flare sort of curve down over your tire and do you think I might hit the edge of it? Could basically lose an inch of clearance that way? Looking at 3:49 which looks like the closest.
@drivenmad2089
@drivenmad2089 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! And the outer part of the fender does flare down a little bit nothing drastic but it does for sure. If you’re going to do a drastic change on the wheels to where they stick out a lot more then you might run into an issue. If they’re not too crazy I think you’ll be fine 👍🏻.

@TP - Just got my ‘21 Rubi with 35’s. 1) Coordinate with your sales manager PRIOR to delivery and they might swap the 33” BFG’s for a tire of your choice at just the difference in price between the two. Otherwise you’ll take a $$ hit on the exchange due to having “used” tires, even if they only have 10 miles of driving from the dealer to the tire shop. 2) Watch for a sale on new wheels of your choice. I picked up some sweet ICON Rebound 17x8.5’s a couple weeks ago @ 4WheelParts for full $229 ea price, then took advantage of their 30-day competitor Price Match policy when they went on-sale elsewhere for 20% off over Black Friday. The ICON ‘s one inch wider 4.5/-6 stance is maybe 1” wider than stock & that’s a perfect compromise for my 35” Nitto tires (imo). 3) @tiresize.com has an awesome Wheel Offset Visualizer/Calculator that allows you to compare your old tire/wheel combo to a new one and “see” how they will look. THAT was invaluable to give confidence I’d be getting the look I was after. Now with Dakota’s excellent video and until I can test myself, I’m 95% certain my combo won’t rub as well. 4):Lift? Maybe a small one down the road. But for now, I like the “hunkered down” puppy with big paws look!

Just found your video - thanks, it helped me finally make a decision between the 2 KO2 35's... The winner for me is KO2 315/70R17 (not the 35x12.5) for exactly the reason you mention above... I also wanted the C load rating, not E - I have the JLUR (granite too, w/manual) and may or may not go for the lift in the future, but wanted a little more in the clearance and looks department. From what I have learned some 35x12.5 will rub a little on the liner if you really stuff it, the 315/70R17 KO2's give you 1/2" less diameter and a little less width which seems to be all the margin you need to fully clear in almost all circumstances. I'm waiting on a new set of wheels to be delivered and we'll see in the next few weeks how it goes.

Do you think 35’s on a 2 door are like 37’s on a 4 door? Or 35’s are like 40’s on a 4 door? LoL, Serious question. Reason why I ask is I’m going to order a Rubicon, can’t decide if I want the manual or AT, 4.10 or 4.88 gears. Currently have a Jeep TJ manual as a my DD with 31’s. Love it.
@drivenmad2089

Id say breakover angle wise it’s more like 37’s on a 4dr. if you get the manual and you want to slap on 35’s without a doubt go with the 4.88 gears. The auto having two extra gears should be fine with 35’s. But if you think you may add heavier wheels and 37’s then if you get the auto get the 4.88. Since the V6 is pretty gutless haha Thanks for watching hope that helps!

@@123456789billybobjoe The JL hinges are absolutely capable (better design than the JK) of carrying a 35" tire w/ the stock or similar weight wheel. Don't waste your money on the reinforcement unless you go with a heavy wheel (i.e. beadlocks) or at least 37" tires.

@@123456789billybobjoe I think you are basing your assumptions/experience on the JK tailgate. The JL tailgate is made of different materials, different welds, different design, and overall much stronger hinges than the JK. That said I have 200K miles on a JK with a 35" on the stock hinges and 50K miles on my JL with a 37" tire on the original hinges and absolutely no issues with either. Now, as I mentioned above, it's not the size of the tire that matters as much as the weight of the assembly. A heavy beadlock wheel with a mud terrain tire driving down a washboard road daily might be a different story. My comments are based on my own experience but a few other online examples are these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGecnmttYr2bbLc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJOwZJaEhaeBecU

@@drivenmad2089 i thought you admitted a scrub on the video. 😂 & you said in the comments you added a lift shortly after. So yes, they'll roll but they'll scrub & it's too much tire without extra lift. Take into account mud &/or snow/ice buildup and that 2" space is inadequate. No one will be satisfied doing this without an evental lift, is all I'm saying. To the guys who just want a bit more tire, stick to an aggressive 33. I don't mean to insult your video.
