Not the exact model, but this brought back memories of videotaping our high school soccer games. For some reason I preferred to balance it on my shoulder rather than use a tripod, and was actually able to even do slow pans incredibly smoothly.

Full size VHS camcorders are indeed bulletproof. I find them unnecessarily bulky in my opinion, but at least I have been able to service my JVC VideoMovie GF-500 and replace some of its ~30 smd capacitors on the Imaging boards (especially the CCD sensor board and the integrated Dc-dc board). Shame that the proprietary "universal" 8-pin AV cables of the era are unobtanium nowadays.

why not just solder in your own, replace with an amphenol/wire harness? ofc it's not og hardware but at least it could work again

I still have a working PV-420D, but all I use it for is for rewinding tapes back beyond the clear plastic leader that the newer VCR don't seem to do. Handy when dubbing home movies from VHS and recording to the Phillips DVD-R. Wish I could record 2 hours in the quality of the 1 hour record time of the DVD media however. Maybe my Roxio VHS capture for the PC computer is better?

Hey what is your opinion on the quality of those abundant mid 2000s Funai manufactured sets (the ones branded under famous American brands but made in China) ? Are they as low quality as I hear?
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
When we were duplicating thousands of give away product demo tapes we used a bank of funai recorders. They outperformed the Panasonic and JVC machines in the dinning chain. My business partner replaced every Panasonic and jvc deck with funai as they failed.

I actually have a fairly similar one at home, and I suspect loose/dirty connections. But have you ever experienced one of these where the video feed is really dark, and you can only see something if you point directly at a light source? Basically all I'm seeing are 'Orbs' where the hottest light source is. (Not the sun, to clarify. Just some LED bulbs). I'm hoping this isn't a sign of sensor damage, because I've been putting alot of time into fixing mechanical issues.

I would say it probably has something to do with the Capacitors in the CCD circut. I had a Vhs-c camcorder with bad Capacitors that showed similar problems

What is the high voltage required for that b/w CRT monitor? Is there a concern of X-Rays from having your eye that close?
@versedbridge40072 жыл бұрын
Likely a few kv, so thr x-ray risk should be minimal.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
Home cameras no, broadcast cameras like my betacam is a totally different story. On those the 2nd anode is about 15kv which is very high for a 1.5" tube. A few guys i interned with that went into broadcast careers ended up with brain tumors and died before seeing 40. Broadcast gear didn't need to be certified like consumer.

Considering the hurricane went up the right coast and i am on the left coast (both politically and physically) the day was sunny and warm. It's the typhoons that we have to worry about. Those are the ones that form in the Pacific ocean.
