Great job, Linda. Frontenac PP is beautiful. Hard on the knees and ankles though.

Your reaction to the backcountry sites had me laughing because i did the same thing when i did a trip there last year. The whole frontenac experience was not what i had envisioned. It was so much more!

I'm thinking of going back to do just the Frontenac loop...you know, swims before dinner, campfires before bed...really enjoy it!

It is a beautiful area, for sure! Yes, that was mica ou found. It's everywhere! There are the remains of mica mines throughout Frontenac PP. I backpacked all thru Frontenac PP in Fall 2021 and camped at all the original 13 campsites in order. The site you went to check out I stayed at that one, but it didn't have the platform then. It was a total swamp, and I was covered in muck 😂 I think that night was when I had the 2 barred owls outside my tent, plotting my demise. #2 wasn't as bad as #7, though when my tent flooded and my Thermarest failed 😢 Having a van to "stealth camp" has lots of advantages. You're lucky Bruce has the cloaking device, so you're not seen 😉

Haha - "Cloaking Device" love it! Just be sure to keep that under the "Cone of Silence", so we can keep on keeping on. :) But, really, we only did that twice - we made other plans to stay with friends, or with hosts from BoondockersWelcome.com, which is an awesome association, in case you know of anyone with a trailer or RV - a great way to travel, and keep cost to almost nothing.

@TheHealthyHiker I will check out that site, I'm looking at buying a minivan to kit out for road trip camping with my dog.

@@garyclayton3760 for the Rideau Trail, I just printed the maps from the website, along with the one -page, blow-by-blow written directions from the same site.
