351. Dedication to Deity | VLOGMAS DAY 6

I actually pick a deity to work with for the year. I find this gives me more freedom and still a chance to work deeply with one for a while.

I haven't formally dedicated myself to any one deity because right now I feel like my spiritual path has changed a bit (become more Nordic) but also quite varied. Brigid works with me at the hearth and at my poetry. Odin guides me through my rune studies. Quan Yin is the mother figure who comforts and teaches me to quiet myself within when the going gets tough. Thor teaches me to hammer my way through life's struggles and fight like a Viking. Herne, Cernunnos and Gaia walk with me in nature, Pan reminds me to be playful and light-hearted. Loki allows me to be human with many faults, Hel pulls me into my shadow self, to gaze in a mirror and see who I truly am, what needs to change, be shed, reborn. To me they are like family, but also my team...one whom I honour and respect as a whole and each individually, but who are willing to work with me and guide me throughout my journey! If that makes sense!! Great video!

I think I'm in heaven. 😍 This topic is one I've never given a lot of thought, maybe because I don't actually see a need to do a formal dedication… I feel that a relationship with deity is all about what's in your heart and soul, which a deity can see clearly no matter what you say or do on the outside. So in that sense, a formal dedication is just that: a formality. I do see that it could feel sacred to a practitioner, like blessing or hallowing the relationship, but I haven't felt the need for that myself. Yet!

I dedicated to the irish goddess cliodna as her actual temple is close to where i live in ireland, in a town with a castle where i love to chill out and feel deeply connected too, i knew the moment i found her that she was destined to be my matron goddess. I also dedicate myself to the virgin mary, her grace, peace and serenity soothe my soul. I was brought up as a catholic and i always felt a deep connection Mary, even after i relinquished traditional practise of the catholic faith.

I am dedicated to Lord Jagannath and have been since my late teens, I knew there was an attraction there pulling on my heart strings, even though I didn't know dedication was a 'thing'. We have built up a real relationship over the decades, I 'feel' them around me, guiding me, a quiet voice calling thru the etheric mists. I made an effigy of them recently and that has really boosted our connection. The more I learn about this God, the more I understand the connection between us.

I dedicated myself to Brighid, but I feel that is because she had something to teach me rather than me serving her for all time. I think she has been serving as the nurturing part of the Divine Feminine/Goddess and my guide in all things deity, lol. She led me to the Morrighan and Aine, she encouraged me to find the Divine Masculine in Mabon and Veles. I think that a lot of people have a superficial understanding of Brighid as a "light and fluffy" goddess with bunnies and sheep running around everywhere. To me, she has been a very healthy mother figure. One who both challenges and supports, and encourages you to leave the nest when she feels you're ready.

I have been working with Hecate for a few months. I recently noticed that she has always been with me, being in my dreams since a young child. I love your idea of 'handfasting a goddess'. I think I will temporary try that to try to build a deeper relationship. So far I have been working well with her and want to be able to work closer to her and have always been worried about dedicating myself for a possibly my whole life.

It's called Hel's Pond...it's beautiful place regarded as a historical pagan sacred site. I've honored Hel in a request of healing last year with the most rewarding outcome. Awesome video. I was dedicated to one deity, them kind of went a bit lax in my practices. Another diety popped up and basically said hello! I follow Him now and pretty much the Norse Pantheon. I need to study more and practice more though. I like the Norse Pantheon because I feel They are very much about me being independent, learning from my own mistakes, but are still there when I want to talk to Them, helping keep me safe, and somehow making order out of the constant chaos that I deal with sometimes.

I've been working with the Morrigan on and off for about a year now, but I don't feel ready to dedicate and I'm not sure if I ever will. I very much feel like the Morrigan is a permanent part of my life, but a year still feels too soon. I also agree with your views on marriage, so maybe that is where my feelings on dedication is for me. Thanks for sharing :)

I connect with Isis and the High Priestess of rider Waite tarot deck. I feel they are somehow linked (two sides of the same coin perhaps) I have never done any sort of commitment ceromony. At the moment I am in a getting to know/ friendship stage with my masculine deity. It is a very slow process but I am okay with it. I haven't found my feminine energy yet but know that she will come when the time is right :). As far as dedication goes I don't feel like I need to dedicate right now.

I like the way you describe your process to dedication as a sort of intensifying seduction. One question though: did fear play a part in the process? I dont mean second guessing or apprehension but actual fear, especially when dealing with a darker deity such as your case. I've been sort of getting some crazy synchronicities and the feeling something is trying to reveal itself to me but as the episodes become more intense I feel actual fear and just banish the hell (get it?) out of wherever I am. Do you embrace fear or take it as a warning sign? PS - OMGs you're Poly! You've like become my favorite youtube person!

In my tradition, dedication only happened after you knew a deity for a long ol' time. Even initiation takes a long time- let alone dedication! (But then I come from a Valiente tradition, and she was overwhelmingly practical. Skyclad in Wellingtons, anyone? XD) It doesn't seem like a good idea to kind of get married after the first few dates! ;p I think the whole year and a day thing is nicer anyway, because then you have to reaffirm. :) It's then a little like a spiritual anniversary! X'D

I have not dedicated to any deity. the idea of dedication makes me feel like I would be worshiping one God. like choosing my favorite. I also don't use the term "best friend", I love all my friends and placing them in a hierarchy just seems wrong. I evolve. my relationship with any particular energy reflects my current evolution, this is why I can't dedicate.

The dedication thing isn't for me. I have a deity who is a longtime companion of sorts & that's how I like it. I have a new deity that came into my life last summer & it's very casual at this point. lol I am very anti-dogmatic so this works for me. I like the archetype framing & for me that works also :)
