I totally believe in the power of clothes! I have to wear all-black for my job and I think it's made me a lot more serious. I work in a jewellery shop so I'm surrounded by power jewellery every day, and always thinking about how the different stones and metals work.

So very true about what you wear influencing your mood and vibration. My wardrobe is very small and most things are either close to falling apart or littered with holes. On the rare occasion I can get a new item of clothing, even a cheap one, it gives me a whole new attitude and energy ✌

Do you shop at thrift stores-esp in fancy areas, and church sponsored. you can get some awesome shizzle for cheap.

Big old YES to power jewelry!!! I wear my jewelry like armor, as spells, to reinforce my will, and to express my inner world. Big believer in that. Yes to comfy too.

Loving these shorter Vlogs chick and this one is a good subject. I love my body most days but I don't find working skyclad is a powerful activity for me personally. Panting my body and working with colour magick in association with ritual threads are totes my thing. Muwah!

So much this! I really know what you mean when you talk about what your wear effecting your mood. Fashion and style is such a large part of my life (as in, I am trained in and have always earned my living in the fashion industry). I use clothing and accessories to express how I feel but also to make me feel the way I want to if I can't seem to get into the head space on my own. "Tool up in the jewellery department" LOVE it! I'm the same, I need to be comfy (and warm), I usually wear my yoga gear (yoga in circle is intense) or my lounge wear. I'm a real fan of rings and necklaces for jewellery, I like seeing my decorated hands, it just seems more 'witchy'. ;) I can't wear anything too flowy as I've had some, um, fire based accidents in the past. I can't do naked, I am ALWAYS cold. I can't concentrate on what I'm doing if I am freezing my tits off. The only time I am naked for ritual is during a ritual bath. :) Ace dress btw. x

That's so true. You usually run the risk of coming across as superficial when you admit clothing affects your mindset and in reverse can also give you clues about a person and their mindset. But I love to play with it. Fragrance for me has the same effect.

When I first started, I actually used to cover my head during ritual. Then I did one ritual skyclad, and I never felt the need to cover again. Now I usually just wear comfy clothes and bring my prayer beads into circle with me. I think that the skyclad ritual, even though I didn't know it at the time, was a really important transition for me.

When I am practicing solitary I am so with you... my clothes are comfortable and casual, designed to not distract me. There may be some "witchy" element to them, like a skill pattern, or a frilly sleeve or neckline, but my biggest attention also goes to which jewelry I will wear, and for which purpose. When I practice with my coven however, it's completely different. Since I'm only celebrating 8 times a year or so with them, and standing for 99% of it, I will go more elaborate with my clothing... they might be comfortable still, but I may also cover my hair with a scarf (it makes me feel more reverent) or put on a cloak or something. I think what we wear in the circle is also highly interesting. I have only worked sky clad once... and it was this year on the Summer Solstice or Lammas, and that's because I was practicing solitary on the 3rd floor on a 30+ degree Celsius day, which meant my room was hotter than that. Naked was the only way I would stay comfortable and focused during ritual because I was sweating half to death, lol.

I clicked on this out of idle curiosity but it was more interesting than I expected. You're quite well spoken, and I enjoyed hearing your thoughts.

For me one of my most powerful rituals involved being completely naked except for a flower crown. While like most people I don't feel always 100% comfortable naked, in circle I feel empowered and completely raw and real. i also think it has to do w your perception of rituals and deity. For exm: my matron is Artemis and I find the combination of nakedness except for a crown or other piece of jewelry extremely appropriate.

The habit doesn't make the monk but a pair of comfy pajama bottoms makes the meditator! Question: do you power clothes or accessories for outside the circle as part of a spell or to create a vibrational shift?

Yes, I use the theory of enclothed cognition every day, pretty much. I'm always tuning in with myself when I'm getting dressed, thinking about how I want to feel, what I'm doing and how clothing can enhance my experience. I have key pieces of clothing and jewellery for different moods. :D I do get attached to my 'power' pieces though, so it hurts quite a bit to lose one, which I have occasionally done. This does make me feel like I shouldn't be quite so extra about clothing! :P

Kelly-Ann Maddox So I suppose you probably avoid having "power umbrellas" or "power scarves" because those are way too easy to forget. ;P Btw I love the idea of "enclothed cognition", it actually reminds me of when I was a kid and would actually create a Tolstoy like back story to each and everyone of my stuffed animals and also their particular relationship to each other (and I had a lot of them) to such a point that I knew I couldn't put a particular one close to another because that would just bring down the mood of the whole bedroom. It got political, there was an actual town hall to settle disputes amongst each other. XD Also, I was wondering, have you read any work of object based ontology? I think it would be right up your philosophical alley. ;)

Sky clad is something so interesting to me, researching into my heritage, all the old Balkan witches would do their magick Sky clad in the forest. The idea of being naked and raising power in nature is so enticing to me, but I haven't felt comfortable enough to try that... yet! As for power jewelry, oh yes, so many rings, necklaces, bracelets, that I use to change my mood daily as well as within ritual.

I almost always practice sky clad. My big problem with it is that it's COLD, and heat is expensive, but I truly don't feel right wearing regular clothes, so if I can ever afford it I would love to get a nice heavy cloak, especially because I love pressure...oooh, a weighted clock...that would be the best thing ever.

i am actually making some power jewelry right now! anyway, i agree with you. i find skyclad to be almost always unnecessary. i am an artist and i definitely find that my art and my practice are very much joined together. so i wear the same thing that i wear for art making--something loose, warm, and comfy. and of course, eventually the power jewelry! also, i must say i love your style. i always enjoy the aspect of your video which involves seeing what you're wearing and how you've done your hair. so fun. if your style blog still exists, i want to check it out!

I have thought about this time and time again. I've been wanting to do a video focusing on clothing alone. I have mentioned it on one of my past videos, which is now deleted. The ethics of shopping, materials, how that plays into lifestyles. How clothing is a vehicle for the artist, or in this case the "witch". I am, and always been into clothing. And this is a passionate subject because so much of my ethics and beliefs go into what I wear, and I feel that's important to express. Also, fashion and style shouldn't have the stigma of being "vapid" or "shallow". I've heard a couple of opinions on consumers that boil my pot, so I have something to say about that. However, I also think that clothes really should just be a protector of the elements and we shouldn't be stressing about or spending so much on clothing. So I really want to have a debate with myself about this subject in a future video, for sure. Also little tips on how I shop and how I'm able to find such good shit. I often go thrifting twice a month as a treat. Shopping for clothes is my high. Haha

It would be so cool for you to talk about ethics and how that comes into your choices. :) I feel you - I am similar in my outlook. I get my clothes vintage or second-hand, and I actually don't shop for clothes often, I just keep the ones I have really well and have a lot of love for special pieces which I will repair when they need it. How come you deleted the video, babe?
@raphaellatheswan5756

Yes! It bugs me when I hear people donating (good on their part) or chucking out a piece of clothing when it becomes damaged. I feel like it is such a waste! Often when I shop at vintage or thrift shops and find a piece of clothing with a hole or tear, it just encourages me to buy it :) I am a little dissatisfied at the moment, I had quite a number of videos uploaded but hated them all. Except for the ones that remain, which are only the short films (a little hobby of mine). The deleted were low quality, boring, and irrelevant; plus they are not the videos I want to make for this channel. I am a practicing witch but I am also a writer... so I'm trying to figure out at the moment how I can balance the two while reaching out to both audiences. *sigh*. Loved the video Kelly Ann! I hope you're in good health and take care :)

hell yeah i love your style. recently i've purged all my polyester clothing in favour of natural materials, as they just felt more pagan and as much as i loved all my retro gears those fabrics just became too gross!!! now i'm wearing all linen and cotton-y things but not feeling as wild as i used to. feel a bit like i've given in to the people on the street who used to stare at me - think i need to introduce some power jewellery!
