Glad to see it the engine is in & running :) I'm not a 351 expert, but to me it looks like you have vacuum lines running to what I think might be the temperature sending unit on the hot side of the thermostat. But not an expert
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Glad it's running too, the temp sending unit is on the manifold and is properly hooked up. The small vacuum tree on top of the thermostat housing has lines that, for now, are mostly bypassed. Thanks for stopping by!

looking and sounding good I think the few little upgrades will be nice little more power but almost stock looking btw holley does sell a ford kickdown linkage adapter thanks for the video
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adam, I think I can re-bend the kick-down to get it to work, but I will check out the Holley kit too, thanks so much for the info. Thanks for watching!

Very cool! Sounds really nice with that RV cam and the magnaflow exhaust. That break in lube is definitely something that is required these days when breaking in a flat tappet camshaft. Very nice to share that info. Some people dont realize the zinc requirement. Have a great weekend Rich.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Billy, ya I thought sharing the Zinc break-in oil would be helpful, so pleased with the initial start! Gotta get it finished off once and for all...final push...

Good choice staying with the 351W it is lighter than the FE motors and should have more than adequate power for this car in street driving.
@MrMach110 жыл бұрын
I'm very happy how the engine turned out I'll pm you my address where to send the car! lol... Sounds really good Rich!!!!
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary! Stoked to get this part done ....again! I will send you my PayPal info with an invoice, so glad you are buying this fine machine :) haha
@SixtyFiveDropTop10 жыл бұрын
Rich, what was your minimum rpm on the first break in run and for how long did you keep it there? Thanks.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
There is no tach but I would guesstimate around 2000 rpms and ran it for about 20 minutes. Now onto the street for the initial 1k miles.
@wasabicars10 жыл бұрын
So, which intake manifold/carby did you go with? I didn't miss it, did I?
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Daneil, I think I briefly covered it a video or so ago but it's an Edelbrock performer and a Holley 600 vacuum secondary. Man it really woke this thing up!
@Rudderify10 жыл бұрын
Woohoo! Now the engine sounds like a real Ford and not a rod-knockin' Chevy. Lol
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Haha, no doubt, it sounds like it's supposed to once again with a bit of extra grunt. Thanks for stopping by Joe.

Hey rich Going to change the oil on a 1966 mustang and should I throw in a zinc additive to the oil because I still have flat tappets. Also what brand if I need to get some.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Christian it is really a preventative measure for break in on a fresh rebuild.....
@diabel19699 жыл бұрын
What made you take off that 4300 carb, and go with the Holley?
@MustangConnection19 жыл бұрын
+diabel1969 After the rebuild I installed an aluminum intake and an RV cam so I wanted a bit more CFM and response so I went with the Holley.
@diabel19699 жыл бұрын
Ok, thank you. I just rebuilt a 1971 ranchero, and although we have a aftermarket intake, we went with a autolite carb, and although it runs really well, there's some known issues with these carbs, which this one is having one of those issues. Seems that everybody went with the holley carb as the replacement. I also chose a aftermarket RV style cam, and it seems to run pretty well.

have a question what is the name of the beak in lube and where did you buy it thanks.I need some will be starting a new engine in the near future
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Great question and the machine shop provided it with the rebuild and it was private labeled with their information. Lucas oil makes the stuff lucasoil.com/products/engine-oil-additives/engine-break-in-oil-additive-tb-zinc-plus
