It is nice to see a man who actually knows how to shoot a revolver. Double action. long smooth trigger. almost everyone wants a short light crisp 3lb trigger. Dao revolvers or semi-autos are the way to go. They are safe to carry and gives you an additional second to judge your actions. Tip of the hat sir.

30 some years ago I had a heavy barrel m66 that shot 1.25" groups at 25 yards. I heard people put down Taurus, but I have never had a problem with a Taurus handgun. Through the years I have or have had a m66, m608, 22 lr tracker, 2 m99s, m24/7, and m607 with absolutely zero problems. Needless to say, I'm a big Taurus fan.

Taurus has been making some form of "model 66" since the late 1970s. I owned one back in the late 80's that went out of time. Of course modern Taurus made things are a far cry from those days.

Most of their '80s and early '90s model 66's were pretty good. The model 85 which is their j-frame clone had a lot of QC problems in the late '80s through mid '90s. Imo I would buy a Taurus 66 off a site like gun broker but not an 85.I'd be willing to buy an 85 for a fairly low cost if I got to inspect it first. It's one of those the good ones are good the bad ones are bad type of things.

They tend to be somewhat spotty in their quality. They can go from superb to being terrible. I guess I lucked out, my 66 is very nice, but the trigger is a lot lighter than this. On single-action it's almost hair trigger, double-action is as smooth as room temperature butter. Accuracy is right there with the best!

Big mistake, I was hooked instantly lol shot it yesterday and you are so right, recoil with 357 mag is not an issue at all .what a great gun and for my first wheel gun, it couldn't get a better choice S&W fine but I never spend that money.

@@ingolfleiblle6661 that S&W .41 mag was the bomb. I fell hard&fast in love with it thanks to the generosity of a sherriff's deputy in late 1950s, early 60s in Wyoming. More poop than a .38, maybe a fraction more stout than .357. Way less sturm&drang than the .44 mag. I liked it(.41 mag) alot. I have been thinking about finding one for a shoulder holster rig to me worn while snowmobiling in the Wind River and Wyoming Range. No shortage of wolf prints&sign in winter on the trails. These wolves are huge! Far larger than what I believe the average "slicker" thinks about when they envision "wolves in the Rockies". Thanks to Disney, slickers have NO idea of the havoc and pure chaos a pack of wolves can cause. I predict human casualties over time.

I have the exact revolver with the camo laminate grips and a 6" barrel. On the range today, my .357 mag load of a 158 grain Sierra JSP propelled by Enforcer was good for 4" groups at 25 yards. At 50 yards it opened up to about 6" but too high. It is capable of better accuracy than my 74 year olds are capable of, I do not shoot with glasses. I have a 140 Hornady load I need to try. I really like this weapon. The camp grips do not bother my hands with any loading.

I actually like most Taurus revolvers over S&w. I’ve owned a lot of good S&w wheel guns, and I had a 686 ssr pro series with a few issues that signaled to me their quality on newer guns took a dump. Front sight came from the factory bent to the left so that had to be replaced, also their new stainless models are total rust magnets for some reason. I cleaned it and kept it oiled and it still had rust issues to where I couldn’t even touch it without having to wipe it down thoroughly. I’ve have a Taurus that was half the price and didn’t rust like that. I can’t explain why it was like that, but $900 dollars spend and it was a total disappointment. Now the gun shot great, but that rust issue turned me off enough that I got rid of it.

@claudb1029 2 жыл бұрын
I tend to read a lot before buying anything. My knowledge on guns is truly limited. However, I have in the past been a low level employee in a machine shop. Latter I've sold stainless steel products. You seem to be the only one reporting rust issues. Why I do not know. No one states what stainless alloy they use. Some alloys are more rust resistant. The term for all of them is rust resistant-not rust proof. Heat for example can cause stainless steel to rust.

I'm in the market for another 357 mag revolver I want the smith and wesson 686 but I think I'll get the taurus 66 I think it's worth the money with a lifetime warranty you can't beat it I know smith and wesson quality is top notch so then again I may hold off and get me my first smith and wesson revolver

Nice video. Well done. New subscriber here! I just got a new Taurus 66 and love it. I also put some Hogue wood grips on it. Love this gun.

I am curious to see how that gun holds up over time. The last Taurus revolver I bought lasted about a year and shot loose on me. It had so much play in the cylinder I was worried it was gonna come apart and sold it. That was after only a few hundred rounds of full house loads. Most of the practice I did was with lite specials. With less than 1000 rnds total. I will check back later for an update.

My uncle immigrated here from Sicily, he's long passed away but he loved revolvers and he'd say it was because he got to choose where all the empty shells are gonna go which was the first river he drove across, I hope he was joking🤷‍♂️

If you can get a Taurus model 66 you won't regret it. I picked up a 6 shot 6 in barrel old school model. Works very well and smooth as can be. Nice factory square but grips. Excellent! ♠️🎩☯️

What year is your Model 66? I love the grips on your gun and have asked Taurus if the make them for my mid 2000's Model 66. They have told me they do not make these grips for my 66. The grips on mine are the rubber finger groove with the screw to remove the grip on the right side. The only grips like yours have the screw to mount the grip on the bottom. Did you have to modify the bottom of the grip frame to make the grips work on your gun? Thank you and I loved the video.
