Great video on adjusting your dies to get brass to fit the case gauges! In 357Sig I use a Lee 40/10mm carbide sizer die and this sizes the case body sans lube. Then I use the Lee steel 357Sig 3-die set’s sizer also sans lube to set the shoulder etc. no stuck brass, just easy use on a Lee Value turret press I got refurbed from Lee direct (stole it for $40!). I use the Speer 125gn GDHP at a max charge of Longshot and actually GET 357Sig velocity from a Set of compensator equipped G32/31/35(conversion barreled) pistolas. With the comps and 22# RSAs these guns shoot like mild 115gn 9mm range ball-except that what gets hit downrange smarts ferociously from that 357Mag-like impact. This is a round where an extra 1/2-inch of barrel can add meaningful velocity. I wish Ruger made a PC9 in this caliber because boy howdy this round in a 16” barrel is hella smackdown!

Nice to know I'm not the only one obsessed to this amount of detail with this cartridge. At one time I had the sizing die set to just push the shoulder back enough to sit the cartridge flush in the chamber of all my different barrels. After several loadings, brass had flowed to the bottom of the neck just above the shoulder due to the neck not being sized all the way down. I decided to get as much of the neck sized as possible and set the die with a slight cam over. This pushes the shoulder back more than what is needed but still not as far as factory ammo. Cartridge length is a beef I have with this cartridge. It's listed as a max length of 1.140". This never made sense to me as for the most part it uses the same platform as the 9mm. The max OAL length for 9mm is 1.169". I load mine to 1.155" and would go longer except they would bind in my p239 mags. The additional length allows for accommodating bullets with a longer ogive and room for slight bullet setback.

@@cw2a Question? . Do you load for a AR 15. If so do you use a regular 223 die. Or a small base die. I use the standard Lee due for my ar rounds. Never had any problems. But I keep seeing the small base die video.

I've been reloading for 357sig for years. It's the only caliber handgun I carry, have 3 non glock 357sig guns. Great to show It's not as scary to reload as some people think. Nice job and a great gift from John, I'm a little jealous. I still use a 40 and 357sig sizing dies to avoid lubing.

i have been loading 357sig since 1994, have had no problems with head spacing. this guy is creating a problem that doesn't exist. i have used 40s&w brass when in the early 90,s you couldn't find 357sig brass was not available, & didn't have a bit of problem. just reload the round & be happy

Im glad you haven't had issues! That doesn't mean others have been as lucky! Proper made dies cause many issues. Improper dies well thats another story. No problems here!

I carry a G32 Gen 3 often.13 rounds of 357 Sig is a potent self defense round.It's a fast & flat shooting.

I just got a 357 sig barrel for my S&W 40 , I have a Dillon 550C press but Dillon dies are 235.00 dollars for a set and are on back ordered so I ordered a 3 die set by Hornady series IV , I have a rbcs turret press that I’m going to set up for the 357 sig what’s your thoughts on the Hornady dies? Thanks for the info on that cartridge I’m new to this on

Hello Brian! I have a few sets of older Hornadys and three sets of newest in 300bo, 6.5 Grendel and 460 BM. Overall I like the dies and they work well. I dislike the tiny wire that retains the floating seater. Mostly because of larger dia cast bullets. My issue with progressive 357 Sig is tgat flash hole diameters are different a d depending upon how the decaper pin is retained it can cause problems.

I have 357 Sig die sets from Dillon, Redding, and Hornady. All put out the same quality ammo, just use a 40 carbide die first then the Redding and Hornady sizing dies.

You always rework brass back to SAAMI specifications not what you think it should be or want it to be. You can get SAAMI drawings online. Wilson is not following SAAMI as it headspaces on the neck not the shoulder.
