You are correct Underwood does vary somewhat in their loadings from one batch to another. You could actually do the 357 Sig folks a favor by testing their new batches to see how hot each batch is. Example the batch of "68gr" XDs that were put out last year were 150 fps faster than what you just tested. Several people found out about this on the interweb because of an individual who posted his velocity test results, the batch sold out shortly thereafter, with myself aiding the sellout!

Great video, but I'm a bit confused. How are you arriving at the conclusion that these rounds were below advertised velocities, when you're not even replicating the FBI ordinance distance from the gelatin block? FBI specs notate that the requirement is 10 ft from the block. Not 15.
@DonDeMarcoKarlsruhe Жыл бұрын
The most anticipated on paper!!!! Let see how it performs in real world....... Black Hills called honey badger second gen of that kind of ammo is even better because the improved bullet shape. I hope Wilson Combat will improve soon that screwdriver tip bullet design even better (3 gen).
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICS Жыл бұрын
Lehigh invented the design and it's absolutely impeccable. Improved shape? How so? The XD's shape was specifically engineered to centrifugally impel surrounding tissue outward as it deposits it's kinetic energy and that's precisely what it does (exceptionally) in the absence of expansion. Black Hills Honey Badger wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Lehigh's revolutionary design.
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICS Жыл бұрын
lol at Wilson Combat. They're bozos compared to Lehigh when it comes to projectile engineering. Have you seen their new fracturing bullet? It's a glorified version of Liberty's Civil Defense and they act as if they reinvented the wheel. They'd better not change the XD design, cuz it will be the downfall of a superior projectile.
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICS Жыл бұрын
Anticipated "on paper"? Were your eyes open when this video was playing? Because the cavitation from the non-expanding/barrier-blind XD absolutely smoked the 125gr HP. That degree of performance doesn't just go away in "real world" scenarios.

@@TERMINAL-BALLISTICS Honey badger is 15-20% superiour to the first gen extreme defender. That was already said at the gun show years ago from Black Hills himself. Interesting will be a ballistic test with those kind of improved bullets (when they are fast enough) out of a longer barell because the higher spinning. Or the Black Hills 357 or even the 45/70. Those bullets look meaner even when they dont move... Just imagine that 45/70 copper with higher and sharper edges touching a ballistic gel. Because its light for his caliber the energy transfer in that 5" to 15" inch area would be better than something else on the market today. A 45/70 rifle is allways lighter and handier than every modern shotgun and could be even more effective that a 12 gauge Brenneke Black Magic. For dinosaur hunting only 🤠🤠🤠🤠

I wonder how different chronographs would compare? Gun Sam_Revolver Aficionado clocked the Grizzly 90gr 357 Sig at around 1900 fps, while you got a max of 1842 fps for the Grizzly in an earlier test (could be barrel length). Your results are also considerably different than what I got from a friends chronograph. I chrono'd the 357 Sig 65gr Extreme Defender out of my 3.5inch barrelled P224 at 2126fps, 4 inch Glock 32 at 2178fps, and 4.4 inch P226 at 2289fps. These were the max velocities of two shots each. The P224 is my daily carry, and I carry two Grizzly Ammo 90 gr on top of 4 65gr Extreme Defenders and 4 115gr Extreme Penetrators. I think the Extreme Defenders are superior, but my concern is the potentially liberal progressive attitude towards exotic bullets if I end up in court. Grizzly Ammo rounds use a conventional hollow point, but are still very powerful (near hot 10mm energy) as demonstrated in both previous test. My assumption if I have to shoot more than two rounds I'll be shooting through some kind of barrier. I started carrying the Extreme Defenders/Penetrators after the truck attack in France. They won't stop a truck, but I suspect they will be more effective if I have to shoot through car glass and car doors.

He just did a 357 sig test with the Underwood 124gr Nosler projectile and the Underwood 125gr bonded Speer Gold Dot, and if I remember correctly he preferred the 124gr Nosler round. I run that Underwood 124gr Nosler +P+ in my 9mm and a factory loaded 125gr bonded Speer Gold Dot in my 357 sig. Might have to pick up a few more boxes of that 124gr Nosler for my 357sig though as that test he did the other day proves it's extremely devastating!

Handgun rounds are handgun rounds. Has to be over 2200 ft per second to cause and explosive tissue damage. All you need is a good penetrating round. People die from blood loss from handgun rounds. They just poke holes. People get to cracked up about the ballistics on these rounds.
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICS Жыл бұрын
False. Irrespective of handguns or rifles, projectiles traveling at velocities exceeding 2,000 fps (not 2,200), can rupture surrounding hematopoetic / vascular organs through the process of shockwave dynamics, which extend to areas well beyond the permanent wound channel itself. Let me know if you wanna learn some facts pertaining to wound ballistics, or if you'd like to see some peer-reviewed scientific literature by actual trauma surgeons that legitimize my statement.
