358 million years ago: Giant prehistoric predator dragonfly

Meganeura: With a wingspan up to twenty five inches, the largest known relative to today’s dragonfly, was a powerful predator amongst prehistoric swamplands.
Arthropleura: The long lost cousin of the centerpiece was a herbivore, measuring up to 10 feet.
Scientists are still trying to determine what caused their complete extinction.
