Well luckily we had some good weather, so it wasn't too wet around the pond, and some dry banks for us to sit on too. It was an awesome day though - loads of great wildlife!

I actually once saw a dragonfly with 3 good wings and 1 wing that was all shriveled up, yet it still was able to fly and catch bugs like a champ. I figured that the thrust imbalance would cause it problems, but nope. Just flew all over the place
@SuperAdnan1179 жыл бұрын
Performance racecars of the insect world, it can fly well enough with just a pair (or three) wings as the other pair only aids to increase thrust, speed and lift among other factors, if you see closely, the meeting point between the eyes and that huge square face has three more light sensitive simple eyes which is sadly often forgotten to mention in A LOT of videos, I too have had firsthand experience with them and they look extremely graceful when hovering in a breeze without flapping it's wings :)

so graceful and elegant

When watching this I am reminded of how humans try copying such grace through ballet. The most talented prima ballerina will Never equal the beauty of the creatures of nature. Even after the decades of training. Absolutely breath taking lads, absolutely breath taking!

Beautiful insects, Dragonflies, are the fastest flying insects in the world. Their aerodynamic moves are amazing...they can change in-flight directions at speeds that no man has yet mastered, they hover like helicopters that even helicopters envy, indeed they're the flying kigs/queens of the flying insect world.

I don't know if you peeps are equipped with underwater gear or not, but I would love to see schools of fish swimming in synchrony in slowmo. Synchronicity in the animal world is beautiful! We got a little of it when you filmed (I think) starlings bathing, as they all flew away. More please!

great vid... im a fisherman so anything to do with fish or angling would be great. the rod action of anglers casting out from the bank side or a float, slowly landing in the water would be very cool. also, a carp taking a hooked bread crust from the surface would be good also, especially its expression as it realises it has been caught/hooked. haha. we/anglers would probrably learn a lot from that. good luck and keep it up. A couple times- Dragon flys have flown into my backyard and bashed there heads up against the wall. The effects of mind control- I can see, as I see what happeneds to them. I can not longer feel the physical pain from the mind control myself- but thanks to the dragon flys, I have a visual that its still going on.

Do their compound eyes have lenses? Ciliary muscles? How do they focus? Notice that they move their heads to assess the prey before taking off. If they have very wide fields of vision, are there specific focal points?
@kha30s222 жыл бұрын
They have pseudopupil which they use to focus and assess distance I think dragonfly can assess upto 1 m of depth clearly.

Amazing video! So cool how these things evolved from that single celled organism from which we all came! How can a semi-intelligent person look at these insects and believe in "intelligent design!" Buffoons! I love flight and hope to live long enough to evolve to a point at which I can attain a few seconds of flight myself. I'd better eat better . . . .
