I hate to say it but filling those holes with body filler and sanding the surface flat is probably going to come back and haunt you later....it will probable pop/crack at the hole as things flex/vibrate. The best course of action if you want to fill and not weld is bond something such as a small piece of aluminum in behind the hole to seal it, make the outer edge of the whole slightly concave with a light tap of the ball end of a ballpeen hammer then fill after scuffing the surface, this way it backs the hole and gives something for the filler to adhere too and you're not just creating a filler plug.

💯 also i really wish he would use an air board instead of a da sander for doing big flat surfaces , that's gonna have more waves than the pacific ocean sanding body filler with such a small and aggressive sander

Hi Mark, I would use the inserts for your visor. If you ever had to replace a windshield you have to take the visor off. It is much easier to unscrew the bolts than it is to grind off the rivets. Just a thought. Can't wait to see it finished.

Love the videos Mark. Coming from a long time body man, you don’t want to fill holes with just filler. It will eventually crack and fall out. Go the extra mile and weld or epoxy a washer or something to reinforce the back then fill the holes.

Mark that visor looks super sweet! Can't wait to see it all complete. For painting, have you considered parking the truck under the car hoist? That would be a super stable and safe platform for you to work, plus it would give you a huge range of heights to work with.

Well, gee, Mark! You should always pead the opsrating instructions. 🤣🤣🤣 The box may also be marked "Make in China". AC condenser behind the grill is a good idea. Kenworth thought it was a great idea and they had their "Grilldenser", built as a part of the grill. Once again, Peterbilt is trying to catch up to KW. 😁

Hey man, I know it sounds like a good idea to weld those whole shit but 3 AM. Makes some really amazing panel bond that you could use to put small aluminum panels behind the large holes and fill them on the outside. All of your late model cars and trucks today are assembled with panel bond and I have found it to be most useful to me in my auto restoration business. Keep up the good work.

i do paintless dent repair.my trainer had a long nozed pete this week we took off hood and set it on floor aluminium hood 100 dents on top from rolling through texas in storms when it was done looked like nothing ever happened.owner allowed 2 holes to be drilled through grille cause he was wanting a new grille anyways which helped alot.but saved his shiny paint 10 hours 5800 dollars.most petes are hard cause the clear delaminants from sun hard to fix dents if you caint see them whitish look

If you watch Mike the truck nut the Peterbilt ones are sealed on the back. Keeps corrosion out of the threads. And the best way to squeeze the insert is to use a stud and nut and washer. Hold the stud and turn the nut. Keeps from damaging the threads.

Little sandblaster with a soft medium to blast around the rivets and hard to get crevices to remove paint. Problem with roof condensers is cold air goes directly on your head and you get cold air. Red Dot roof condensers are very common in Australia. You can buy them new and heaps of parts available including fibreglass cover.

Mr. twin sticks once again, a wonderful video learning so much about bodywork and different type of attachments. I’m painting my 1997 horse trailer and although that is not anyway comparable to your Peterbilt, it is an inspiration to sand just a little longer in the corners to do it, right I have come to conclusion that you are a lot like the scientist in the Manhattan project Paul Tibbetts, who was the pilot of Enola Gay and in charge of overall operations finally said let’s go to the Pacific with the dang thing because the scientist had gotten to the point they were no longer building a bomb. They were tinkering with it, and they felt who would never get done and look at this. I think the same thing you are just going to tinker and replace rivets and sand and tinker with thatand Truck will never be blue and you’re going to have so much fun

Another great episode Mark. I wonder could a 2 x 40 containers fit along the back of your shop that you could put a proper well sealed door into from your shop to allow you to use as store rooms wheel all stuff out of way when not in use. Keep you shiny parts clean when you sanding and spraying.. Clear lots of space and be less covers for overspray. Just an idea for a winter project.

The visor looks nice Mark. It's certainly been polished a lot better than the so called polished factory visors that Pete put on the trucks back in the 70's and 80's. I detest drop visors that cover almost half of the windshield. I know you like the straight stacks, but personally I like mufflers with the factory heat shields and grab handles. I've heard that there isn't anyone making reproduction factory heat shields, and it would be next to impossible to find original shields that are like new. Looking at your reproduction a/c condenser cover got me thinking about the availability of factory heat shields. Maybe that's something that they could start making. I have no doubt that there would be a big market for them. Your new cover looks a lot better made than the original covers. They were a little flimsy and didn't hold up very well sometimes. I still like the look of having the cover on the roof. I've been around trucks since I was born in 1961, and that's how trucks were that had a/c. I started driving truck when I was 18 (1979) and by that time Kenworth came out with their "Grilldenser" system that did away with the roof mount... I remember Freightliner kept using the roof mounted system for a while, but I can't remember when they stopped.

Pick Mr. Blakes brain on what they use on aluminum aircraft for prep, I know that is what they use on the aluminum bodies Fords and other vehicles with aluminum hoods and whatnot. Pretty cool stuff.
