19:29 i will say that i did not have an epidural and i loved that i was good to go and able to move around right after (even though i was exhausted). i don’t even really like taking benadryl or anything that makes me feel not normal, so it was great that i pretty much immediately felt normal and was able to just put all of my attention on my new baby rather than having to maybe feel a little strange from meds and have that be stressing me out. it’s definitely personal preference and i don’t think you can go wrong either way. i just really loved the recovery aspect of not getting an epidural! it also really helped when it came time to push. no one told me when i needed to start pushing, i told them when i could feel that i needed to. it was great being able to just follow my body’s lead! i really recommend bridget teyler’s built to birth videos, regardless of how you want to give birth. i binged her videos and went from 0 confidence in giving birth to 100. during labor i kept thinking back to her videos and they really helped me so much!

L&D nurse here! NICU ratings are I, II, III, and IV! My hospital is a 4 so we can basically take any baby of any gestation (given it’s viable) with whatever issue. III is your basic NICU so it can take premie babies (before 32 weeks) but if something was super complex they would be sent to a level IV. II is like a special care nursery so they can see babies 32 weeks and up with no complex issues and stabilize more premature babies if needed. I is like for the perfect late preterm-full term baby (just a general nursery really but can or should be able to stabilize more preterm if emergent).
@mariahcassadym
@mariahcassadym Жыл бұрын
Also! Pitocin doesn’t necessarily cause really strong contractions, the issue is in natural labor with no interventions your body has time to adjust to the strength of contractions where as with pitocin it kind of just comes out of left field. We start at a super low dose and titrate the medication up every 15-20+ minutes to try to give the body time to adjust but it just isn’t the same. Babies can not tolerate natural labor contractions just as much as with pitocin, pitocin just doesn’t always give them as much time to adjust. I always try to take my pitocin patients as slow as possible which isn’t always the docs favorite but I’d rather my patient and baby be happy 😂 Unfortunately sometimes pitocin is needed even if you’re contracting on your own just because your natural contractions aren’t strong enough to progress your labor. Just make sure to talk everything through with your nurses and providers to do what’s best for you and baby!!

I LOVE that you do the pitocin that way. That makes total sense now how you've explained it. I can see why it has a bad wrap if it's getting given super fast and out of nowhere (rather than how you do it) and it could stress the baby out.

Just because you havent made it to the gym doesnt mean you arent exercising! All that cleaning and child rearing counts! I hope your birth goes the way you want it to! I had an unmedicated birth at the hospital which was great but ive always wondered if i would have been more present in the moment of her birth had i got the epidural. I was more focused on pushing and the pain that i was in a fog honestly.
@KristenxLeanne
@KristenxLeanne Жыл бұрын
That's true! Thank you for that reminder. I'm glad to read your comment about a natural birth VS epidural, bc I have heard that before... and I have to say I was way more relaxed, coherent and "in the moment" with the epidural (not that I've ever had a natural birth to compare it to) and I remember really enjoying that part. And i hadn't eaten for days prior to going ot the hospital etc, so I bet I would feel even better had I SLEPT and eaten days prior to delivering + the epidural! So maybe I will just go for the epidural and try to avoid pitocin!

Currently 35 weeks (almost 36 weeks) pregnant and I wish I wanted to clean, I just don’t have the energy. My nesting stage is none existing this pregnancy. Also, I’m sorry to hear your experience at Scripps wasn’t great. I had my son there in the La Jolla campus in 2022 and the staff, like you said was awesome and as soon as I had my son, then moved me to a new clean room. I had a C-Section tho. I hear good things about Jacobs Medical Center so I hope this experience for you is more positive.
@KristenxLeanne
@KristenxLeanne Жыл бұрын
That’s okay that you don’t want to clean. Do what feels good and just relax. I even asked them if they moved people to another room after and they said no. They didn’t even have a couch for Nick. Only a chair. It was ridiculous considering what they get paid by insurance companies. I’ve heard great that’s about jacobs. So far I’ve had one appointment at UCSD and they’ve been great. They’re already putting in paperwork for a free breast pump for me. I had to do all that on my own last time and I was going in circles trying to figure out how to get it and calling everywhere. I finally just gave up!!

Honestly wish i had them do it a week earlier because my daughter was almost 9 lbs. I never needed pitocin. I tried everyrhing on my own to induce. My only advice is to listen to your body, they kept telling me during labor that i wasnt close yet and i knew i was, every coping mechanism i tried didnt help and was telling my husband i dont think i can do this anymore, i was at my breaking point and only a few minutes later in the tub, she was coming out of me. That's great that you're doing research now! Feel free to join my "real moms club" on facebook groups if you want advice on anything at all. I would do tours when you can of the hospitals you're considering. Also, take a look at their NICU ratings 4 is amazing, 3 is good, 2 and 1 are not equipped as well. For me, the dr. doesn't matter at all... they're there for like two seconds when the baby comes out and that's all. When it comes to a pediatrician, it depends what you're approach is. Ours is a delayed vaccine schedule and nothing we don't feel our daughter needs and we don't do routine visits either, we think they're silly and an insurance money grab - so you kind of have to look at if a place is more wholistic and naturopathic or what. Read reviews too!

Holy pain but I made it If you have a long and hard labor. I suggest drugs. It’s to stressful and hard on women. I have seen so many women long labor and it causes stress like after and it wasn’t good for them after -they had more post pardon depression . Do not THINK OF BEING OVERWHELMED. IT will cause more un do stress. You’ll be ok, and you’ll find your groove. You will. It’ll take time. And hardly any weight gain. Dang girl. 😂😂😂YOU GOT THIS. Congratulations!! Yes, I've never let go of my normal routine! However, I only drink espresso, which (Nespresso espresso at least) has less caffeine than a normal cup of coffee and I switched MOSTLY to the decaf espresso pods! You're supposedly allowed 250mg of caffeine per day pregnant. So maybe just switch a few days out for a decaf?? I also don't really eat much else with caffiene, IE i don't eat chocolate really... and I don't drink energy drinks much. I did stop with my pre workout drinks and stuff like that. I also personally still eat deli meat, sushi, kombucha, soft cheeses etc and they tell you not to eat any of that either. I think it's mostly a load of BS to be honest...I am just cautious about WHERE I eat sushi, etc. I just don't eat at a road side stand sort of deal. lol Just do what feels right for you, talk to your doctor... but I don't think drinking some coffee daily has hurt either of my pregnancies!

Yeah, I just feel that it's mostly a money grab for hospitals. I did all the normal testing for baby, except the 20 week anatomy scan - I was turned away for being about 5 min late for my appt, after driving an HOUR to get there. Which is why I asked them to cancel all future appointments and I switched to an entirely new hospital. I tried to make a new appt at UCSD and they didn't have one for a month and a half. So I had that yesterday and I didn't even see a doctor. They told me the baby was head down and that's all they did! lol But for Harlow, the pregnancy wasn't problematic at all. It was simply the labor and delivery, and because of that, I have opted to NOT do a birth center this time (unless it was the one one the same floor as "normal" labor and delivery in the UCSD hospital) and do a hospital birth. I was told yesterday I couldn't do the birth center at the hospital though since I'm already 37 weeks. So we'll be at the normal hospital! BUT had my pregnancy with harlow been abnormal in any way...I would have continued normal care and check ups to make sure everything was good. I do have a doppler though at home and my husband is a paramedic and has actually delivered quite a few babies (around 60 he told me) so I feel like since everything has been going great, and went great with Harlow's pregnancy, we're doing good!

It sounds like you're literally carrying just the baby and water with this pregnancy. I usually comment on all your videos, and I'm sorry I've been "gone" from keeping that up. I love offering encouragement when I can and express how happy I am to see y'all doing so good. I had an epidural with my oldest son, and I started with one when I was finally allowed to have my second son. The epidural literally wore off just before I was able to start pushing, and the second dose didn't kick in until after my youngest was born. I felt bad for the anesthesiologists who were on duty that day! Two of them to five women going into hard labor at the same time. Honestly, I can't say which experience was better. There are pros and cons to each. I know that I would rather give birth naturally over passing another kidney stone! Listen to your body, from now until they place your newborn in your arms. Stretches can be done laying on your bed. Just modify them a bit. One last thing; you got this! ❤

I had two birth. First was with epidural and I was induce. My second was natural birth without intervention and i have to say I saw big difference in my two kids and my recovery. My second boy was way calmer and my birth was also faster then the one with epidural. My body also recovered way better without epidural. I was in so much pain in my lower back after I got epidural and it took me way longer to recover. I had to ask for pain medication in rye hospital. It was so horrible. Worst pain then giving birth. Also keep in mind second baby usual comes faster. You might still go over your due date but ones he/she decide to come out it will be quick!

Can you still breastfeed with implants
@KristenxLeanne
@KristenxLeanne Жыл бұрын
You can! HOW you have your implants put in play a large role I was told by my doctor (the one who did my implants). She said you always run the risk no matter what of having a hard time breast feeding or not being able to if you get implants, but she said that if you go in through the nipple to put the implant in place or if you go above the muscle it's more common to have issues. I didn't do either of those things with mine. I did have a hard time making enough milk with harlow, which I actually just filmed a video on and it will be out soon, but I don't think my implants had anything to do with it, I believe it was a few other reasons that I go over in that video!
