Some may disagree but this has to be Bowie's best line-up 👌

How elegant is this song! Just pure ambience and emotion building, then the best part that wisely lasts only a tad below enough to leave you wanting for more

Nothing remains We could run when the rain slows Look for the cars or signs of life Where the heat goes Look for the drifters We should crawl under the bracken Look for the shafts of light on the road Where the heat goes Everything has changed For in truth It's the beginning of nothing And nothing has changed Everything has changed For in truth It's the beginning of an end And nothing has changed Everything has changed (In your fear, seek only peace) (In your fear, seek only love) (In your fear, seek only peace) (In your fear, seek only love) (In your fear, in your fear) In your fear Of what we have become Take to the fire Now we must Burn all that we are Rise together Through these clouds As on wings This is the trip And this is the business we take This is our number All my trials Lord, will be remembered Everything has changed

For 40 plus year Bowie has been and remains my absolute # Idol. I, like many fans have have most of his 70's albums at the top of my list as favourite albums and I'd suggest Heathen easily fits in there on that best of list. Top to bottom it's a stunningly beautiful album.

I agree. I also love the Next Day and Blackstar. Reality is the only album of his last four that I don't think is brilliant.

@@ivankaramasov ....Blackstar is a Masterpiece, I'm not sure why I didn't mention it lol. I wasn't a huge fan of The Next Day but I loved Reality :) Hey we all have our favourites and...less favourite albums...all good :)

Let's get out of binary thinking: much has changed but much remains the same. I never dreamed as a youngster I would be following Mars explorations on a computer in my living room one day, but every brick in my house has obstinately held its place through these 62 years. Much changes but much remains.

I absolutely love how he is supernaturally graceful during the first part, mic technique 10/10 avoiding clipping on those plosives, and then when the acoustic drums come in he turns into an embarrassing dancing dad. 😅

I think he honours the band and stands aside for them. I don't know if this is the beginning of the gig but it should be. A great way to introduce the main act and the band. I am very impressed.
@johnspitzer90184 ай бұрын
@@nickpn23 it is indeed the beginning, the opening song on the tour (abd the album), and a very moving and gutsy choice. as for his movements, Bowie was in character, as he almost always was, but this is perhaps his most nuanced performance. heathen is at the top of my list as his most literary offering.

As a "new" fan, Only now I realized... "where the heat goes" Heat being tha last track from his previous album "the next day" ... from heat to heathen, from that day to Sunday (the last day of the week, therefore the beginning of an end) ... basically indactes that this album (being in a new millenia) is turning of yet another new leaf. Fresh, but grim. That's what I get from the song, anywats

Cool interpretation! Just for clarity, The Next Day was his penultimate album, released in 2013
@hypsin04 жыл бұрын
Heat is a bonus track, and is not the last one, at that. It was also released over a decade after Heathen.
