I was walking home from work when I passed by the corner of Music Plus, I looked up and there just three feet away separated by the glass was David bowie getting interviewed. I stopped and stood there with my mouth open, I couldn't believe one of my all time hero's was just feet away... it was surreal. I went home and had a normal night but it was one of the best moments every!

so, just to ease your pain, my brother has always been kinda “meh” about bowie (he’s a guitarist, so he saw good lyrics as utterly dependent on the back up band for context, so he’d have probably been pretty engaged in the conversation if he had met Mick Ronson… in a tower records in LA, i think - in the 90’s, i think) ..but instead he met Bowie himself.. and so he (allegedly) said: (to DAVID BOWIE ) “ hey its really nice to meet you, sincerely, i mean that, you got some great chops , but what’s really reaching me about this moment is that my brother would kill to be me right now, because he’s like i don’t know ..really into you .. idk “ so DFB said: “…well let your brother know … that i once knew a man with a wooden leg named smith” … and let it hang in the air. no punchline. of course my brother knew the punch line , and just erupted with laughter, so.. feel better now? because i don’t.

Bowie took the best musicians and made them better. He made them play out the their comfort zones, made them surprise themselves and that is what he used. He was the master of getting the most out his musicians and the ideas that they brought and the ideas that were grass roots. That is a true artist.

@chinshihtang2 жыл бұрын
This is a more natural Bowie, closer to his true nature, than some of the other personae. Note he is singing in his natural baritone. As for new wave, he was right there, but this is later. He's about to embark on some really unpopular journeys--but that's OK.
