Even as a kid, sort of got the impression that Bowie had a rare humility about him & his obvious fame. Seems like he was a very sharing musician. As a musician myself, that's the best thing in the world, playing with & sharing music with others instead of fighting against them for the spotlight. Bowie was one of a kind.

Buru Soila A couple of years later (1983, I believe), I saw Ade live @ Toad's Place in New Haven (same year Fripp did a combination seminar/Frippertronics show there). I remember hearing "Big Electric Cat", "The Lone Rhino", "Adidas In Heat", a Beatles cover, & some Crimson tune(s) Adrian wrote; "Heartbeat" was definitely one of them. Great show. He also played a show there with The Bears (guys he was in a previous band with, I think), as well as with Crimson on the "Discipline" & "Beat" promotional tours. Those KC shows were mind blowing; two shows in one night the first time (3/3/82) from about 15 feet away, with another show the following night.

Great version. I've been a Belew fan for a long, long time - back to when he played with Zappa. I got to spend quite a bit of time with him in London in the early-2000s when King Crimson were signed to the label I worked for. I was their 'label guy'. What a thrill for me and I'm happy to report he was a good-humoured gent. Fripp (with whom I've also been obsessed since the 70s) turned up to the hotel suite where we were doing interviews and was hilarious and weird in equal measure. What a day!

Scary Monsters and Super Creeps is definetely tied for Bowies best album for me with Hunky Dory, and Bowie wrote sister midnight for Pop, and just reused the music for Red Money

Outside is a brilliant album, just hard to find in the record stores in my area. I've been trying to listen to it online, but just don't spend too much time listneing to music on here besides live videos

Check out the Bowie live album Stage, which mostly features Belew. He also played on the album The Lodger. Belew also toured with Bowie on the 1990 Sound+Vision tour, which was one of the greatest shows by anyone I've ever seen. There is a French TV bootleg of it around if you look hard. Belew had just released Young Lions, so they played the title song and "Pretty Pink Rose" during that show. I'm just impressed that Alomar seems happy standing the the back playing rhythm.

Freakin' Carlos Alomar singing the harmony, so nice. The whole band is really amazing, not just Belew, who Bowie was so happy to nab from Zappa. Is that man on bass Busta Cherry Jones? That bass line kills!

Oh man , Adrian Belew : one of the most original and inventive guitar players of all time . He takes every band to a higher level . No wonder Frank Zappa acted like a little child and was frustrated when Bowie asked Belew for his tour while Zappa just has ended his tour and didn't have performances in the time Bowie had his tour. So there wasn't a problem but never the less .......... It was the right decision of Belew while he knew Frank Zappa was against it. In the reactions of Zappa to Bowie Zappa acted like a narcist and Bowie stayed , as always a gentleman .
