I take a 16 penny nail cut the head off and split it with a cutoff wheel in a Dremel. Then use 220 wrapped around it in my roatary tool. Works awesome in the exhaust port plus you can buy a roll of paper that’ll last you years. I think you can buy actual split mandrels but at the time I used a nail and have been using it for years since lol 😆..

I use Locktite 518, but the most important thing about it is cleanliness and that there can be no oil fingerprints. What is metal to metal it glues and hardens very hard, what is superfluous, as it was in this case, does not harden but is washed away over time.

I've never understood people who don't bother polishing up their exhaust port once they've put a lot of work into it. Mirror finish any day.

There is definitely a debate on exhaust finish... some say a smooth finish creates better flow characteristics... others say that it creates a "drag" on the passing air because of the droplets cling to the smooth finishes... others say a slightly roughed surface helps to create an air barrier/buffer and helps with flow. Lol. Choose your poison. 😂

@@RichFife No debate here - a polished mirror finish will net you the trifecta … 1) improved flow , 2) less carbon , 3) superior scavenging - this isn’t just my opinion it’s a fact. Been known about for decades. There’s just way too much misinformation presented here on utube. That being said , Try it out and see for yourself !

@fabzacres-blackcat I stopped using mirror finishes. It's not needed, and you're not gonna notice it in the cut.... or on the dyno. Lol. Unless someone hacks the shit out of the port prior to polishing... but then that wouldn't be a proper test now, would it. Lmao... you'll gain more with port shape, width %, as well as how the flow exits... if it has more bends, it creates drag/resistance... etc.
